auburn did gimmick and got up early. recovered onside kick in the first quarter. who does that unless you are desperate to try and get a win and know you cant pull one out unless you try some desperation plays like that. we controlled that game and won. we were looking ahead to the number one ranked team in football. auburn-alabama is a rivalry game anyways, so it is bound to be closer than experts expect (same for texas and tex A & M).

it is not an apples to apples argument to compare nebraska to florida or A & M to auburn for that matter
there is no argument that florida and bama have the best defenses in the nation. we put up 32 on Florida. florida's defense is much better than nebraska.
they're both good schools...auburn is harder to get into. but, so what?

in 1994 and 1996 it was a known fact that auburn's business school was inferior to alabama's. i dont need to see stats when i know from first hand experience that people i knew couldnt get into alabama but got into auburn.

The fact of the matter is this. Which teams will show up for the actual game? Will the UT team that steamrolled people or the UT team that played TT show?
Will the Bama team that destroyed Florida or the Bammer team that barely beat Tennessee show?
Comparing what teams have done against other compe ion up to this point is almost moot. Both are undefeated through top-notch conferences. Both are very deep. Bammer is maybe a little more talented, but Texas is a bit faster, IMO.
On paper, I think Bama is a bit better, and has played a tougher schedule. But nobody really knows which team will deal better with the time off, and I think whoever does that will win. The forty year wait before this game is one of the most re ed things in any sport. Satan proved last year that he can fail in this situation.

If you really want to talk about defenses, explain exactly what Bama is going to do against Texas, being that Texas has the #1 ranked defense in the country, and except for Ingram, a more explosive offense. Ingram hasn't run against a run defense like Texas yet. No other team in the country has speed like UT. It's going to be a different game for him. Not to mention the fact that UT leads the country in INTs with 24. Love to see McElroy against these guys. Go ahead and think that Bama is going to curbstomp UT...I hope Bama thinks so too.
t.u. hasn't faced a RB like Ingram...you could play this game all day. i think bama wins, but who knows. its one of the more unpredictable le games i've seen in some time.
Auburn has shown that you can stop Ingram, but at what cost? Losses. You have to do two things against Bama, stop the run and pressure their QB. Mcleroy has shown that he can dink and dunk you to death if the running game is slowed down. But what if a team can get pressure as well? Muschamp knows the Bama offense, and has beaten it before. He's going to have to force Bama to go vertical, which I still don't think they can do with any consistency. UT has very good corners that should be able to handle being put on an island. Then mix up run & pass blitzes.
Stop the run, pressure/hurry/sack Mcleroy. UT offense needs to score as well. There's the formula, IMO
Ingram is no joke but the tide D may be getting a little too much credit, they dont really have any good pass rushers on the line, cody is a badass but texas doesnt run up the middle and he doesnt have the speed or agility of suh, now the linebackers are excellent, but besides arenas the secondary is pretty average
that and i'll go with the better qb; edge texas

texas has a good defense, but IMO they havent faced the level of compe ion to what bama has. bama dominated defensively against some strong offensive teams in ark, florida, ole miss, etc. they struggled a bit with auburn, but that is a big rivalry and they were looking ahead to Florida (who wouldnt)
and the ingram talk is good and all, but in my opinion he is the second most talented back we have. he is not much better than richardson (except for holding onto the ball). even if texas can shiut down ingram, then you are going to have to deal with richardson (who reminds me of bo jackson). richardson is the strongest guy on the entire team and can bench press a school bus if he wanted to.
mark my words that richardson will be a better player come sundays than ingram will. he just has more athletic talent period and runs harder and is faster.
ingram and richardson are two of the top five running backs in alabama football history. anyone who says otherwise hasnt been paying attention.
