    Duncan will play as long as he is good enough to start for a playoff contending team.

    In 5 years, he will still be a quality big man.

    He won't be quick enough or have the energy to do his post move drive into the lane more than once or twice a game and will be slow going up and down the court. He won;t be able to handle young star big men in the low post one-on-one.

    But he will still be tall with long arms. He will still be a good rebounder and decent shot-blocker. He will still be great at team defense. He will still be a great passer and a great bank shooter. He will still be a double-double producer. He will still set picks.

    All the Spurs need is one young star for him to team with down the road, it could be Blair.

    They complimet each other perfectly, as Bliar is great on the offensive boards and Tim is great on the defensive boards, and Tim can teach Blair how to playbasketball.

    Galileo, I'm just curious. How do you interpret this?

    I know the window for me is closing. I've got a couple years left on my career. Hopefully, I can end strong.

    It is just modest rhetoric.

    I hope he stays in top 5.
    I take this back. Truth is, he should be in Top 3, period!

    When someone has been in the league as long as he has and can still put up these kind of numbers, it's just incredible.

    * Blair looks like all-star material for next season, and may be hall-of fame material.

    Duncan is not going to retire in 2012, barring serious injury.

    * Duncan LOVES playing basketball.

    * In 5 years, Duncan will still be all-star quality, given how few quality big men there are in the NBA.

    * After 2012, Duncan will sign a new contract for lower money, freeing up salary cap space to keep the team good.

    * The Spurs look to be a good team for another 5 years:

    * TP is still a fairly young player, improving his shooting as he gradually slows down.

    * Blair looks like all-star material for next season, and may be hall-of fame material.

    * Mahimni might still develop, and get his contract picked up.

    * Splitteri is going to be here eventually.

    * Jefferson could re-sign for lower dough, he is only 29.

    * Hill looks like a potential all-star.

    * Bonner is still improving.

    If the Spurs are still a good team, Tim will stay.
    I'll be the first to admit my man-crush on Blair, but I've gotta see him get a lot better on the defensive end before I get wet in the pants on that level.

    Duncan's PER is up to 29, he is almost caught up to Lebron, and is way ahead of third place.

    In NBA effiency per 48 minutes, Duncan has broken 40, and is way out in first place, with Lebron almost 3 points behind.

    Tim also had a +30 plus/minus last night at the Bucks game, he has now almost cracked the top 50 in +/1.

    I was at the game (in the spirit of Christmas, I gave ny extra ticket to a homeless person). Duncan looked amazing, he hit bank shots like they were layups. He should have lost the 15 pounds 3 years ago.

    Throw everything else out, Duncan's health is the most important factor for # 5.

    It was not too early to post about Duncan's PER.

    I'm curious to see how his PER will be like at the end of the season. He's playing great right now though; this is probably the best we've seen out of him since maybe 2002 (?) on an efficiency standpoint.

    I'm convinced Duncan retires in 2012 no matter what happens with the team between now and then. I hope I'm wrong, I'd like to see him play forever, but I think he's done. I thought he was pretty clear about it in training camp.

    It has nothing to do with his game, barring injury he could probably play for years. He wants to go out while his game is still strong. His family is young, he wants time with them. I think he's done with the grind of the schedule.
    You are almost certainly right, you know your stuff. But I really, really hope you're wrong. I want to see Timmy do a "Kareem" and push 40 before he's done. Not sure his knees, family or eventual retirement of Pop will allow that to happen though.

    He will have braces all over his body and gonna kick PER stats leading the leauge !

    hey to me it's almost laughable that tim has so great efficiency - big part this year is his FT%

    He's been excellent at the FT Line and is shooting 78%.
