You can't win them all. On any given night, half of all NBA teams that play will lose.
    Rockets just made some shots.

I for one will support the Spurs until the final buzzer and beyond win or lose. However it would be ignorant for me to think the Spurs are currently champion contenders without any fixes.

I'll always love the Spurs organization, but that does not mean I can't be disappointed in them.
I'm also disappointed, but pronouncing the dynasty dead when it still has Duncan, a 27yr old Parker and an FO that tends to make the right decisions is definitely premature.

Spurs are from done. Let's see what we do against the Lakers before we start writing our dynasty eulogies. If LA destroys us in our upcoming matchups, then maybe I will agree.

Personally, I sometimes wonder if we had still drafted blair and kept Bruce would the teams record be any worse than it is now. RJ/FO is to blame for all of this. $14million should buy you a solid star player or some nice complimentary pieces. Instead you have a guy who is not great on the defensive end and needs touches to be effective. To me the most important aspect of the RJ trade is how it affects Manu. Manu has been the heart of the team for a long while now. I hate to think we would have to ship him out for another piece ( Wing-Defender/Center )cause Jefferson's contract is to big to be moved. Imagine that fellow Spurfans, We lost Bruce to Jefferson and now we just might lose Manu to him. That hurts in a big way. RJ was supposed to play Solid D' ( to some degree replace Bruce's D') and also provide consistent scoring ( to replace Manu incase he went down). He has done neither. Manu and RJ are scoring nearly the same and Manu is filling up the stat sheet, while RJ cant get a steal, block or assist. And as we speak IMHO, Bruce Bowen has played better defense sitting behind a desk with a bowtie on than RJ has in the past 6months. I dont like RJ for what he is not doing on the court. I'm getting really upset however, looking at what was given (Bowen) and what still may be sacrificed (Manu) for RJ's sake/contract.

Reigning for all those years was pretty great, actually quite amazing. There are teams still looking for their 1st championship.

This mistake ended the Spurs run in my opinion:
    San Antonio Express-News -
The Spurs have agreed to trade center Jackie Butler and Argentine forward Luis Scola to the Houston Rockets for guard Vassilis Spanoulis, a future second-round pick and cash considerations, an NBA source said Thursday evening.

Spanoulis, who played sparingly for the Rockets last season, is expected to remain in Europe.

This mistake was the end of the Spurs run:
It wasnt the end, but the beggining of it. Poor choice after poor choice when it came to overseas players. We need youth and we have Ian, Gist, Splitter and to some degree Javtokas sitting either on a bench or tearing it up in another country.

Yes, depending on how you look at it, you can say it's the start of the end too.

Spurs have been losing the interior battle and playing catch-up with Big men since then (Oberto, Bonner, Mahinmi, Splitter, Dice, Ratliff) and I probably missed some.

Oberto I'm cool with. He did his job in the limited minutes he got. Bonner shoots and thats it. Ian wont get light and Splitter was after that cash. Dice is doin ok, but not great and Ratliff is solely situational.

Nothing wrong with hatin' Lakers and Lakerfan on a Spurs board

But I am kinda sad to see the Spurs in decline too, much like it sucked when the Kings and Suns went downhill (even though I hated both teams)

Great teams make for more great games and make the NBA much more fun to watch.

I hate them too. But now I hate them cause theirs no way we can beat them with our current lineup. They would destroy us in a 7game series. I'm talking 2001 WCF if anyone remembers that.

I don't believe great teams don't die until the playoffs. For the Pistons it seemed for a while our team was dying down, but there was always a glimmer of hope. The actual point when I new our team was done was when we got swept by Cleveland in the first round of the playoffs last year.

If this team is done it will be obvious come playoff time. When a championship team is done it will have so much pride and will keep trying to fight, but when the run is over its over. Yeah it sucks when it happens especially to smaller market teams. Teams like the Lakers can rebuild in 2 years.

I'm not dissing the players; I think they fill a role. Oberto probably did the best job of the whole lot of them.

But would you say any one of them were better than Scola?

Until Duncan retires, the Spurs dynasty is not over.

that is why I bumped it.. I didn't want to make a thread to post a tweet so just looked up some thread that discussed "the end of the dynasty" and this one popped up... isn't it ironic how it seemed over at that point (whent this thread was made)?
That was exactly the point of why I bumped it. some perspective

Nobody saw that post-2010 revival coming. 2011 was a great regular season, 2012 WCF, 2013 Finals, 2014 Ring.
