    This time by Polian

    http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/02/10/colt...special-teams/

Colts president Bill Polian told the team’s official Web site Wednesday that the offensive line and special teams should shoulder much of the blame for the Super Bowl XLIV loss to the Saints.

“Our offensive line, by our standards, did not have a good game,” Polian said of Sunday’s performance. “They were outplayed by the Saints’ defensive line. Our special teams, in terms of handing the ball — both in the return game and on the onside kick — were outplayed by the Saints. Therein lies the result. It had nothing to do with strategy or preparedness or toughness or effort.”

Polian said the Super Bowl simply came down to execution.

“… There were certain situations throughout the game where we didn’t execute — most notably, the failure to get the first down and run the clock out at the end of the first half after a magnificent goal-line stand and then, of course, the failure to handle the onside kick,” Polian said. “We had four things we could have done positively on that play. We didn’t do any of them. That absolutely changed the game. It went from our getting the ball on their 40-yard line to having them march down for a touchdown. Then, our inability to punch it in from first-and-goal on the 3. Those situations, we did not execute.”

I'm sure Jesus Manning had nothing to do with them losing.

the offensive line was bad? Manning had all day to throw the ball on nearly every play. There was one play where he literally held the ball for 10 seconds and there still wasn't any Saints within 5 yards of him.

    Polian is so freaking stupid.

New rule: Colts are allowed to have 2 offensive lines. One to back up the first one.

I can't wait for the rules committee to shockingly approve that one. "Teams located in the Midwest with Blue & White as their primary uniform colors are allowed 16 players on the field on offense. Defenders will be unable to use their hands to deflect or catch footballs if their team name is Patriots or Saints"

What the ? That was the most time i've seen a QB have in the superbowl in years. Manning had all day to throw. I guess anything to shift blame from golden boy Peyton though. Maybe the d-line should have to count to 5 by one-thousands before they can rush.

i dont know why oline was blamed, they were good to me

but that pick still was far more reggie waynes fault than manning

the cut was so ing horrible its not even funny. if he had made a sharp, quick turnaround (like he was supposed to), that is an EASY first down. you cant make ty cuts like that on a timed curl route.

You guys can't tell me you're surprised that someone has to be blamed to save Peyton.
I'm just surprised they chose the O-Line, especially after giving Addai room to run and keeping Peyton clean all game.
    Polian is stupid

Polian is a joke. An absolute joke. Manning had ample time to throw and then chucked one to the Saints.

The Colts lost because they stopped running the ball. Peyton HAD to be the star and it cost them the Super Bowl.

Agreed, idk what Addai's AVG. yard per carry was but everytime he ran it, it seemed like a 5 yard gain.

Re ed. The O-line created enough time for Peyton, not to mention the holes Addai and Brown ran through. Indy's D had a bad second half, while the O got too pass-happy. This sort of blame game is going to diminish Manning's legacy.

Peyton 9-9, Rivers 3-4. Peyton > Rivers in the playoffs.

Peyton 9-9, Rivers 3-4. Peyton > Rivers in the playoffs.
Peyton also been in the league a lot longer than Rivers, not saying Rivers is a better QB but just wondering how his name came up on this thread?

    In 2005, Peyton was 3-6.
    Rivers > Manning.
I don't even like Rivers (I hate his at ude) but give me the kid before Peyton in the playoffs.
He's not a better QB, but won't lose that many games for me when it matters the most.

Neat, and he's 9-9 now. Does this 6-3 stretch not count?
