I think Spur fans would be more graceful with the Spurs failure this year if we went down swinging. To fade away due to small and inferior rotations has been hard to bare.

They should fire Pop immediately. This guy is going to cost San Antonio the playoffs this year. The Spurs are one TD injury away from making the playoffs. If TD catches the flu for 7 days. They will go from 6th place to 10th by the time he comes back.

Only a new kinda fool starts his weakest players, gets behind by double digits, then tries to make a come back with old banged up players.

Visualizing that last statement just made me fall out of my chair laughing. But hey that's what Pop does.

You know it is bad, when a player like Mason, who has absolutely no trade value, virtually begs to be traded.

Do the Spurs even practice anymore? They should just save their energy. Even if you have a good practice you will still start the game on the bench.

    Pop should stay.

This team doesn't have the talent to win a le in today's NBA, not with how lazy Jefferson has been and how finished McDyess has looked. Even adding Splitter, the rest of the league is too good to win.

Even if Pop had his best coaching year, I think they'd be better, I think they'd win a playoff series or two . . . but Pop at his best can only win so much. He wasn't coaching underdog teams to series wins too often before. Even Phil Jackson couldn't get a le from the current squad with their health issues. Much better than Pop, but no le.

Besides, firing him would cost too much money, and we all know that Holt can't afford to be paying two coaches full salaries like other teams do.

The only way a coaching change will happen is when Pop gets tired of grinding away with a borderline playoff team and steps down to go play with wine festivals.

Remember, if Pop goes, it is not the Pop who won four champuonships. It is the Pop who along with small ball ran the team into the dirt. We all would love to have the old Pop back, but that is very unlikely.
The Pop who won at least three of the four championships had players that weren't afraid to tell him how things needed to be done.

A great coach can duplicate his success. It remains to be seen if Pop can be a successful coach in other situations.

Until Pop can duplicate his success here in SA in another NBA franchise or other basketball setting, I think he's comparable to a guy like Rudy T.

Nice guy, nice coach, but by no means "great."

After the trading deadline passed /the only thing we did in the trading department to improve the roster now was..."NOTHING"/, it was/is obvious the Spurs were not able to pull any trades to bring some players, who could upgrade our current roster. Therefore, with those guys we have right now, I believe, it will be impossible to pass the 1st round in the Playoffs; there is no way the Spurs would win our Division either - Dallas secured that 1st spot already by bringing Butler and Haywood - last night they held Orlando to 85 pts, pretty impressive!!! So, I bet f. Cuban is happy...

The Spurs will probably finish between the 5th and the 7th spot in the final Playoff standings, which will send them either to Denver, Utah or Dallas in the 1st round; Taking into account Utah beat us 4:0 this year, it will be very difficult to pass through them, Denver also defeated us 2 times at the ATT center, needless the say Dallas has "our number" as well, so fasten your seat-belts Spurs fans, and prepare for (1) an early Playoff exit, (2) an entire NEW roster next year, and (3) HOPEFULLY, a NEW COACH next year - Avery Johnson. Pop is simply done as well - time to retire, Pop!!! Thanks for all you have done, but you have to go, buddy!!!

you're done before anyone else, you bald cream.

I could not agree more, unFortunately, lots of posters here cannot/could not take their "Pop's glasses" OFF and see the reality - and the reality is WE HAVE NO TEAM right now to win a le, PERIOD, we (even) have NO team to pass the 1st round in the Playoffs, as you say, if Timmy gets injured, we WILL NOT even make the Playoffs; And after spending so much money [the 1st time in Spurs history!!!], someone has to take the responsibility [as Pop said himself!!!]mfor mismanaging the team, playing time, plays, etc., eveything, and this one is the Coach...HE SIMPLY LOST IT! NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!! Time to go, Pop!, Time to go, buddy...

Typically, when someone does not have anything to say, he uses non-sense language - take OFF your "Pop's Glasses" and see the reality, this is what I have to say to you...

so bobcats beat cleveland..... Ratliff played 18 min, scored 5 pts and had 2 blocks. Before any dumbasses say he's old and it's just 2 blocks, But how many shots did he alter and intimidate? That's what the big picture should be about. So Pop go yourself cause you aint worth a anymore.
Agree 100%! I did not understand WHY Pop did not play Ratliff - he is NOT used up - Now, Pop has NO shot blocker besides Timmy - pretty f dumb, if you ask me...

Wasn't this pretty much the same reaction from the fans in '07 when Pop did not make any changes in the roster and we all know how bad of a move it turn out to be, with the Spurs only wining the championship?
you've gotta be dreaming this time around...

The starting lineup today makes me think that Pop is giving spurs fans the finger. There is no one, noone that could believe that this is the best linup (defensive/offensive) that the Spurs could put out there.

Maybe Pop is just sick of his job. I really cannot understand what he is doing. I had the same problem last year. Pop's problem, which has always been his problem is pride.

Anyone know why Blair only played 13 minutes ? I was looking at the box score and the pistons killed us on the boards.

And according to pop, he won't be here next year. He said it himself " If we don't win it all, I should be fired ". I'm still waiting for someone to call him out on it.
