So there is going to be a war, I wonder where Jack's crew fits in all of this??
This was a good episode in general, but unlike the last one w/ Ben this didn't reach some kind of climax that revealed Sawyer's true character. In that way it was a letdown.
Still, I think it's setting everything up for the showdown and who is going to be on what side. No surprise that Sawyer is gonna be on his own side. Here are my questions though...
If all Jacob ever did was tell Sawyer it was gonna be alright when he was 9yrs old at a funeral, how does that effect him choosing to be a cop over being a criminal later on? And if "Jim" is gonna kill Sawyer anyways...what the does it matter whether he became a cop or a criminal?
Hopefully those questions get answered when his true character is finally revealed.
Either way, I'm really excited about the Richard-centric episode next week...should be exploding with answers.

Jacob handed young Sawyer the pen that he wrote his revenge letter with. I think that's probably an overrated moment of significance but it seems to be the key point where he gets to a crossroads between a life of crime and a life of law enforcement. In the end, his goal is the same, but at least he's not piling up a bunch of other sins to atone for in the meantime.
The first Sawyer essentially BECAME the man he wanted to kill. This Sawyer became more like the man he was in the Dharma initiative.
Nice catch on Jacob's significance!
So, I figure he'll find "Sawyer" at some point in this season and that'll be the climax. Right now "Jim" says he'll kill him, but when push comes to shove will he actually do it?
That's what I said!
Yea, we didn't many answers but I think that episode was for the ladies. IYKWIM.
Can't wait for the Richard-centric episode!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure the Alpert-centric episode will satisfy some of you answer junkies out there.![]()
Richard is a cool character.I hear nestor carbonell may play khan in the next star trek movie.

I don't expect many real answers till the last 2 episodes. Then they will answer the questions like a son .
There seems to be a lot of talking about things we already knew, a lot of aimless wandering around, and general bull to be had this season. It's like I am watching lord of the rings, reduced to scenes were the hobbits are walking. It shouldn't take until the final two episodes to get interesting, but if you tivo the episodes and skip through the flash sideways stuff, a condensed episode is actually approaching average. That's my glass half full take. But on a more story related note, I am hoping smoke monster turns out to be the good (as good as you can be on lost) guy. Jacob really bothers me, but I'm seeing a ton of christ/god/satan references in episodes, so I am thinking he represents good. It looks like he has a plan for them all, that they must accept on faith alone. And smoke monster is rebelling against Jacob, rejecting paradise, tempting fallen humans to leave Jacob with the promise of earthly pleasures in the guise of Locke, who died for the islanders and was buried in a christ-like pose.

Smokey killing off Eko still irks me.
I dunno. I don't really think either are that good or that bad.........like Ben/Widmore.
Does someone have an answer to this....
Why does Widmore want the island so badly?
He definitely knows Richard.
My only guess is that he wants a shot at immortality.
What's killing this season for me is they keep interrupting the actual show (good stuff) and introducing an alternate reality storyline that I have absolutely nothing invested in.
They have gotten carried away with the flashes (even though I'm sure the sideways ones tie-in/answer something in the end).
+1
They need to start connecting the side stories to the big story.
The Ben being a teacher was sort of interesting, but overall it was worthless.
That. Stop fighting them, and just watch. I have a feeling they will prove to be like pieces of the Lost jigsaw puzzle, and you won't get the whole picture if you ignore them or blow them off as useless.
Co-sign Same thing i said couple of post back.
The Alternate reality + lack of answers is what is killing it for me.
Tonight it's all about Richard.

hopefully the episode lives up to the hype
Debbie Downer!
if it lives up to the hype, then I won't be a dd
Read up on Jacob and Esau - Old Testament; when Smokey started talking about his momma last week got me thinking. Might be something in that.
It's going by too fast. The end is near.![]()
Can you cut and paste for me?![]()
that's what I thought of when I first saw them sitting on the island together.
Some kind of Jacob/Esau meets Cain/Abel mixed in with some Egyptian temple magic
but I have no idea any more.
Possible spoilers....
There was a site promoting the show in another country that had captioned the smoke monster as "Jacobs brother." It was later taken down, per request of ABC.
