No one in the UFC at 170 has a chance right now. It would be like Ginobili goin up 1on1 against a bunch of high school kids
I love Fitch
He is delusional about fighting GSP again but i love who he is and the way he fights..
100% warrior...

Somebody on Sherdog put up a haiku in tribute to Mir's loss:
Annihilation
Mir wakes up, face in canvas
Got to gain more weight

We've got a host of completely dominant champs right now. Penn, Rush, Anderson... Machida can be beaten, obviously, but now that he's been shown his weakness he'll patch that up and Shogun will have to find a new one. Carwin looked impressive, but I'm not convinced he'll be able to beat Lesnar.
This is so sad. I don't know how I'm going to go on cheering for him... 2 days later and I'm still totally let down.
GSP hater here he should just fight at 185 since he is obviously to strong for the guys at 170. I dont see him standing toe to toe with anyone all he does is take them down and lay on them til the last few seconds and then he GPs. Was pretty boring !
You must have missed the countless near submissoins he had..
I saw the "two" near subs and props to DH for hanging in there and not tapping out. The rest of the fight wasIMO. Although it was the first time I've seen Carwin fight and was very impressed but I think Brock will come out on top in that fight.
I don't get it
In GSp fight there was action all the time. That fight really made the day for me. GSP worked hard for subs, worked hard for positions. Was escaping few times when Dan had a chance to put him on his back, once he made it.
On the standup GSP also had the adventage.
You can call fitch fights boring cause he is working mostly on a positions and tried to wear people down
I agree with most of this.. It was weird that his fights with Fitch and Alves nobody complained about but this one with Hardy he is getting some grief for. Dana was even being asked in the post-fight about possible back-lash for GSP in terms of buy-rates for his next PPV..
I said earlier in the thread i was a little confused by how sub-happy he got in that fight, and it was not his best fight but he worked and dominated the whole way..
He was taking orders from his corner, and his corner is in charge of making sure he keeps his belt, so I can't really blame him but I'd like some comments from Greg Jackson at least regarding why he told GSP not to pass until the very last moments of the round.
70% of MMA fans always want the fight finished, on the ground or standing. We, the commentorsm, don't have problem with "boring" when it's a good battle, but Hardy was completely neutralized to the point of visual exhaustion for those 65-70%. We all like to see fights finished, and GSP is the elite kind of athlete that he can do it or perform well enough that you can't understand how the other guy didn't get finished (then we say, "wow, such great heart"). Hardy didn't have much damage on him, we got no blood or broken facial bones. You can't give people Mir/Carwin or Cain/Big Nog and expect them not to be dissappointed when GSP/Hardy does not live up to the hype...and that's probably the main thing against the fight.
That said, I won't be putting any money into UFC 112. Silva will give us a good knockout and BJ will make a gorey scene out of Edgar...but it's not exciting to me like a BJ vs Sotiropoulous or Anderson vs Sonnen card. I want to see the Champions tested without needing to be hyped into it. GSP really has no one to fight because he can just take them down and roll over them, yet I wouldn't mind seeing Fitch try again if he could beat a Daley/Koscheck![]()
People have complained, you just haven't listened. GSP has turned into the "wrestler." He isn't exciting or dynamic. He's too afraid to lose on his feet, that he's happy with throwing some junk to setup a takedown. Yeah, he may control that position and that's all he cares about, but it's more about "not losing" than winning.
BJ Penn, Machida, and Silva will stay on the feet all fight and work people over because they are GREAT at that aspect, and guess what? They'll go to the ground because they aren't afraid to fight there either. Penn and Silva are the epitome of DYNAMIC and true MMA fighters. They aren't afraid of taking the fight anywhere. Machida, on the other hand, hasn't been highly tested on the ground, so I won't make assumptions.
He is one of the most popular fighters in MMA, a huge draw. Those that are complaining are way out-numbered by those that love the man. I was in the crowd on sat night buddy. Everytime GSP got put up on the big screen they went nuts. The place thundered in the fight intros.. Everything from his marketing to his PPV numbers say this man is a star. So those whining must not be doing it loudly enough.. Most of the boos late in the fight, came from the drunk guys in the nosebleeds trying to rememeber where they parked their cars..
Silva has had fights in the past where he stayed away from committing to heavy shots out of fear of the takedown, see Thales Leites.. BJ stood and pecked away at Diego for 20 plus min, how the is that a risk? Diego has pillows for hands and lousy technique on his feet. He did the same to Sherk, again Sherk has zero stand-up and T-Rex Arms.. IF Penn fought Alves or Koscheck he has to stand. Why? Because his offensive wrestling is not good enough to get it down.. IS that risk taking or lacking the skill to give yourself other options? GSP took Hardy out of his game with wrestling and control. If he stood and traded and got caught then he gets ripped for a bad gameplan. Hardy's only chance was a KO, everyone knew that.. So he wins with good stragedy and the likes of you on himBJ Penn, Machida, and Silva will stay on the feet all fight and work people over because they are GREAT at that aspect, and guess what? They'll go to the ground because they aren't afraid to fight there either.
Oh well can't please everyone..
And we all enjoy different types of fights. Just here on the forum, Poland was very pleased with the fight, i thought it was not GSP's best but still good.. Some people like that style, some don't..
Silva has had fights in the past where he stayed away from committing to heavy shots out of fear of the takedown, see Thales Leites..
Seriously, this is your stance? GTFO. Thales is a joke and in no way did Silva stay away from anything. Did he stay away from big shots with Cote or Forest Gump? No, he just s with non-contenders and lands non-"heavy shots" and still makes Gump run the cage crying
And he battered the out of his face. Use google images.
Do you recall BJ's risk against GSP? You know, when he sent him to hospital. Use google images.
Go yourself. Oh, and go masturbate to GSP. I know you love to watch him dry hump his last 4 opponents for 25 minutes apiece. AWESOME! PURE CHAMPION!
I don't know if you know this, but it's an ENTERTAINMENT sport. Do you know what that means? Again, ING GOOGLE.
Maybe your boy toy can figure out how to finish a fight, and I don't mean Finish in his pants after dry humping legs.
Way to prove you are only here to troll and act like an immature in asshole. You were all over Leonard every chance you got and now you want to sling mud at me just for a reaction.. This is the last time i will ever respond to anything you have to say on this forum..
Go fish elsewhere..
All this coming from a Spurs fan? I gotta ask, what side were you on during those Spurs/Suns rivalry years when the Spurs were getting ripped for their 'boring' gameplay? I can't ing stand this idea that sports were made for entertainment. Sports are compe ion that happen to be entertaining most of the time. When they aren't, get the over it
LOL. I wouldn't respond either when I chopped down your dry humping hero. GO GSP, WORK THAT GAMEPLAN! (meaning.. dry hump for 25 minutes and complain your "performance.")
If you don't think sports were made for entertainment, you need to jump on the short bus. that isn't entertaining gets canceled. If you don't know what those leagues are, ask your special ed. teacher to look it up.
On the other side of that, Spurs aren't boring. It's a misnomer of people who are uninformed. Spurs play the full sport. E.g., you can compare GSP to the Suns. The Suns played only offense and didn't play defense. Much like, GSP dryhumps, but won't stand and battle. Spurs played excellent defense and executed very well offensively.
Thanks for proving my point for me!
Hmmm, I can see some validity in your point.
GSP (Suns) wins by outscoring opponents without getting many stops.
Silva (Spurs) wins by getting stops without scoring as many points.
I'm still of the opinion that Heavyweights spoil us with their no bull visual approach, it's very entertaining as of late.
Just days removed from Frank Mir’s beatdown defeat courtesy Shane ‘What’s the Second Round Like?’’ Carwin, one might think that the hate-hate relationship between the former champion and current king, Brock Lesnar, might just simmer down a little bit. As really, it could be a while before a rubber match fight between Mir and Lesnar materializes, if ever, so, is it time to toss a few pails of water under the bridge?
Well, in a report from Yahoo Sports, it doesn’t sound like Lesnar is expecting to fight Mir anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean that Mir will have a new found love for the champ if he reads the following quote.
“I kind of figured Shane was going to win, though I know anything can happen in this sport,” Lesnar said. “I was kind of laying back and I didn’t want to count any chickens before they hatched. Shane’s a tough guy and I just know that Frank’s time is done. This is the new evolution of the heavyweight division. Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, we’re the guys in this division.”
There you go Stringer.
Although, Tim Sylvia disagrees as far as visual approach.![]()
