Actually Manu was just as effective as Bonner was in the 4th quarter of Game 5 of last years playoffs..
You know... When the season was on the line? Where was he again? Oh that's right! He was on the bench next to Manu!

    Try again.

Bonner rarely plays in crunch time, that's not his strength, and not his role, Manu is the one getting paid the big bucks to play well in 4th quarters.

    you should just stop trying

It's like when people compared Rasho to Robinson.
That may be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
Bonner has given me no reason to trust him. He is a one dimensional, unathletic player who is a severe liabilty on D. I've never seen a PF/C with ZERO post game before. I will be happy when he is gone.

I expect Manu to carry this team and you're right Bonner is a piece of that chokes under pressure. You're finally come to your senses!

I'm actually having more fun with Mav fan over at the NBA forum. I know what to expect of Bonner and he'll choke big time in the playoffs.

    Really?

And Bonner has developed that nice little hook shot, so I don't think he necessarily has no post game.

On the other hand, Bonner's three point percentage is pretty lousy to begin with.
Huh? He has the second-highest three-point percentage on the team. No need to completely falsify things to serve your agenda.

Yeah, but he's 44th in the league in 3pt percentage and under 40% (.395).

    For a 3pt specialist, that's lousy.

Everybody knows Matt's a rule player with this and that flaws, speaks low of him, but on the other hand, many tend to put him in a critical position. Hope god bless he can guard Dirk decently, not choke with 3.

I won't mind what level he reach in the Playoff, "out of D position, lose all the 3s", so what, can anybody kick him off the rotation?

This poll makes no sense, I think his play will not reach most of STer's expect. But I like this guy, and I don't like the theory that whether we're hard to beat depending on him, it's unfair.

    perspective

    this guy has it

but Bonner is rarely out of position on D, c'mon man

if we lose, you know the Church of Manu is going to try and pin it on Bonner in any way they can

    'Tis a fair question IMO.

I'm looking at matchups. Against the Mavs, he will match up mostly vs Dirk and Najera, and sometimes vs Haywood. Neither Dirk or Najera are shot-blocking type bigs who like patrolling the paint - they may decide to stay with Bonner, so Matt may not get too many open looks in the first place. Yesterday he was 0-5 from 3.

Also, Bonner has developed this new (and hilarious) move of faking the 3 and driving the ball to just inside the FT line and flipping up a running hook of some sort. Now Dirk has decent lateral movement, and Dampier/Haywood manning the middle are good shot blockers. That doesn't bode well for Matt's adventures inside the 3 point line.

If we somehow overcome Dallas, Phoenix will likely play Amare or Channing Frye or Dudley opposite Bonner. All of those guys are quicker and more athletic than Ginger, which essentially spells trouble for his scoring. I won't bother going into potential matchups vs LA or Cleveland - making the WCF itself is a long shot IMO.

Long story short, Bonner is likely to be in over his head starting this Sunday.

Unless proven otherwise, Bonner is a liability in the playoffs along with Mason.
