LeBron wont do a sign and trade. No chance. he knows he'll make enough money in every aspect of his life. Why would he gut the team he wants to go to for a few extra mil? He's not gonna do it. He'll go to whatever team and sign a 100+ mil contract without them sending Cleveland anything.

HUH? Do you think Cleveland would rather let LeBron walk and get nothing in return or let LeBron go TO THE WEST and get Damp's 13 mil expiring, Roddy Buckets, Butler and picks? It's an easy answer.
You totally miss read the situation Cleveland finds itself in. Why would they want an expiring contract when they can have the cash value now.

If you are Cleveland, you look for an allstar player in return first, then second you would look at signing one of the other allstar free agents. What you will not do is give James more cash through a sign and trade for an expiring contract that has no value, a journey man SF and an unproven 2nd year player.

Cleveland is not Memphis, so it is time to come back to reality and remember that you are the Mavs, the greatest playoff choke team in history.

No, you're the one who doesn't understand the details. Dallas fan has this one right. Before you go any further, you may want to research the special nature of Dampier's contract, Cleveland's salary cap situation, and the status of Butler's contract and Jamison's contract.

Lets see how many minutes until the next re not getting it...

Explaining the Dustchip situation for morons (and thats the only way it works):

    1) Convince James he want to play in Dallas

    - play together with Dirk, Kidd, Marion, Haywood, Terry, Butler/and-or Roddy
    - blabla Dirk-James almost the perfect superstar combination to complement each other
    - having the best shot to win RIGHT NOW
    - blabla no tax
    - blala spending owner
    - blabla JerryWorld with some games
    - blabla other minor reasons

    2) Let James play his card
"I leave 100%, its a S&T with Dallas or signing as FA with eastern conference Nets/Bulls/cap team XY"

    3) Let the Cavs FO think:
if its better to let James walk to an eastern team for nothing or send him into the west and get even some value back, even if its just Roddy and picks (remember they can do the trade on 1st july and waive Damp on 2nd july, never paying anything for it and just paying Roddys rookie salary - same as James leaving as a FA). Damp/Roddy - maybe extended to Butler-Jamison to make it a little bit more easy for the Cavs.

    4) Done

Well, its practically done after step 1 and thats the hard one. Its not even slightly in the hand of the Mavs if it will work or not. Its all up to James, if he likes his chances and suituation with Dallas or if he likes another option (= cap team) better. If James deceide "yes", Cavs are ed anyway and just can pick the minor worst case and thats always Dallas.

Reminder: James has to agree to any other S&T and also dont want a crippled new team, so no S&T for Martin/Ariza etc.

And btw for me the Nets are still a 75% favorit to land James together with Bosh/Lee/Boozer.

    Spurs fans , so scared
Scared of what? One fan expresses a concern and suddenly the mavs fans come out of the woodwork. Guess they have to get excited about something.

Doesn't bother me-good for mavs if they get him. I actually like your team...except when they play the Spurs of course.

Unfortunately for Cuban, this ball is entirely on LBJs side of the court. Even if Cubes has got the pieces, I don't see it coming together.

They'd constantly be peeking over at each others urinals in the mens room just to see who's got the bigger stream----so to speak. LBJ needs and wants his own stage. Cubes takes too much of the spotlight from his players. If LBJ s half the businessman he purports himself to be, he won't touch this even with a stolen .

Ah, i thought you have really 4 arguments worthy to discuss and not that troll trash talk of the NBA forum
Yeah like 4 championships isn't a reason to prefer Spurs over Mavs. You see, your team spends millions and continually lose in the first round. If you want to win championships then you go with a front office with a track record of success vs. One that tries to buy its way to a le and still falls disappointedly short.

The NBA fined Cubes $100,000 Lebron free agent tampering. It's on BSPN. LOL!

The NBA fined Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban $100,000 Saturday for his recent comments about Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James.

    More on the Mavs
News, notes and analysis of the Mavericks from ESPNDallas.com's Jeff Caplan, Tim MacMahon and the rest of our team. Blog.

Cuban confirmed the fine through his Twitter account shortly before the league announced its punishment for Cuban's remarks which violated the league's anti-tampering rules.

"For those of you who care about these things, NBA just fined me 100k for comments regarding another teams' players," Cuban wrote.

NBA rules prohibit team officials from commenting on potential free agents until the market opens on July 1. Earlier this week in a CNNMoney.com interview, Cuban was asked he if is interested in signing James. Cuban said he is hopeful that James will try to force a sign-and-trade, which would give the Mavericks an opportunity to acquire him.

"Come July 1st, yeah, of course, anybody would be interested in LeBron James," Cuban said in the interview. "And if he leaves via free agency, then it's going to be tough. If he does like I'm guessing, hoping he will, which is say, 'I'm not going to leave the Cavs high and dry,' if he decides to leave -- there's still a better chance he stays -- then he'll try to force a sign-and-trade and that gives us a chance."

The league more or less slapped Cuban on the wrist considering he and the club faced a maximum fine of $5 million and the possibility of not being able to pursue James in the case he does become a free agent. The league sent a memo to all 30 teams in 2008 directing team officials to decline comment about potential free agents when asked by the media.

The league also fined Phoenix Suns president of basketball operations Steve Kerr $10,000 for comments he made regarding James on a radio show on May 14. Kerr joked that he would like to sign James for the mid-level exception, "About five-and-half million, I think he'll take it. Don't you think?" Kerr said.

Kerr was then asked where he thought James would end up next season. Kerr said, "I have no idea. I want him to stay in Cleveland. I think that's good for sports when you've got players you connect to over a long period of time, so I hope he stays."

A Suns spokesperson said the team would have no further comment on the matter.

Jeff Caplan covers the Mavericks for ESPNDallas.com. You can follow him on Twitter or leave a question for his weekly mailbag. Information from ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne contributed to this report.

    Dude are you series
does the word "Sea World" mean anything to you. LOL
but on a series note, im sure they have night clubs down there to right? Every city in the country has night clubs. Plus I think Lebron is engaged so maybe the nightlife isnt an issue for him. San Antonio the team has alot to offer Lebron, good coach, hall of fame player, Gino is pretty good and they have 4 championshipsm which shows a succesfully history. Honestly if I were Lebron I would actaully consider the Spurs an option for me based on the coach alone. Now Dallas probably has a better chance in landing him based on market size, but if Lebron did choose the Spurs I dont think anybody could really blame him. The team not the city has alot to offer him.

You're the re if you think that your team, which has lost in the first round of the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 seasons is somehow currently a contender. Especially since we eliminated your team this year. And your team is old as .

The time has passed for the Dallas chokers. You blew the Dirk Era.

And if night life is a priority for LeBron, he's going to Miami to play with Wade and he's not going to Dallas or San Antonio.

While the Dallas night life might not be better than San Antonio, when you lose to NY, Chicago, and Miami, then why even mention it. Truth be told, Lebron is most likely staying with the Cavs or going to Chicago.

Dallas changes its roster too much, too often. That's what happens when you have a billionaire owner that tries to buy a championship. He needs to focus on developing a core group and not trying to short cut his way to the top. It's because of his terrible meddling that Dallas will probably never win a le with Dirk.

Don't even get me started. The Spurs ARE NOT a more talented team than the Mavs. Do they have more heart? Yes. Do they hustle more? Yes. Do they have great chemistry? Yes. Are they more talented than the Mavs? NO. Adding LeBron would INSTANTLY make us the best team in the NBA, and the 2nd best team wouldn't even be close.

It's a team sport. At the end of the day it doesn't matter how bright individuals shine, but how they play together. Dallas may have put squads with more individual talent than the Spurs on the floor for over a decade, but talent, as a team, and as measured by the only meaningful arbiter (wins), is something they've rarely had more of than the Spurs, historically.

Adding LeBron to Dallas might make you marginally better than the Cavs, but you would still have a gaping hole where your centers are supposed to be, an aging PG spelled by an undersized 2 masquerading as a 1, a 3 with an un-moveable contract whose best days are behind him; and -- if the Butler/Beaubois trade were to happen -- a vacuum of talent at the SG position. Not so great, really.

EDIT: I forgot to add you have no 1st round pick, and only a late 2nd rounder. "Thanks, Donnie!"

Dallas is Dirk and a bunch of mid-level to low level talent. You overestimate your players. Us beating your team was not just about heart, it was also about talent.

You don't lose in the first round 3 out of four years just because you have no heart. You are blinded into thinking your team is great based on your oversized payroll. But success in the post season demonstrates talent, and I only saw one guy on your roster continually show.

And any team that Lebron goes to instantly becomes the best team. Look what he did for that Cav roster.
