It's not really Nash by himself though. WE always hear how prior Spurs championship teams had awesome spacing on the offensive side of the ball. Even when Dragic ran pick and roll and had 2 guys move towards the elbows at the 3's created all kinds of havoc for the Spurs. As long as he makes shots, he is a perfect fit for that offense. Spurs run that too, but they move the ball as much. Can't tell if that's by design or a limit of the current personnel.
A lot of the Suns 3's also come off of transition where the defenses are scrambling. I think Frye would be less effective (although still good) in an offense centered around half court execution. Again, I would take Frye over a lot of people right now because he's a gutsy player. I watched him closely at Arizona and he developed his game every year. But I just wouldn't expect him to have the same impact.

This guy has a player option. He'll either use it or he'll opt out and get overpaid by some dumb GM that wants him.

Frye looks good right now because he fits Phoenix's style. Overall, he's not worth spending money on. Pass.

I never like him in the first place, even before the Phx/SA series. I'd rather keep Bonner than sign Frye.

I liked frye before the series with L.A. he chucked up too many 3's during the lakers but he made quite a few if he could improve his shot selection which i think pop would get on him more than gentry would he could be a huge upgrade than bonner and hes a decent defender also

Indeed. If the Spurs didn't have the MLE committed to Splitter I'm betting that Pop would be knocking on his door at the stroke of midnight.

Someone will probably pay him too much this off season, but Frye does stand as a great lesson to coaches all over the nba to think outside of convention parameters... he was never a 3 pt shooter in college or in his nba career, but the Suns made the right decision to let him become one this year, and that experiment worked out very nicely for them. No, he's not a star and probably not even a starter, but considering what he gave the Suns this year for what salary they paid him, he was a terrific pick up for them.
