The Big 10 now has 12 teams. Time for an over/under on the number of years before the conference picks up corporate naming rights? I'm personally hoping for "The Tos os Conference."

Well it looks like the rest of the big12 puckered and gave Texas what they wanted.

It's possible this was always just UT leveraging the Big 12 to get what they wanted. As it currently sits, this situation couldn't have worked out better for anyone.

That's exactly why I love the idea of no championship game, which sacrificed football for an extra chance to generate revenue.

A&M has already taken some sort of initiative. It was always Texas who loved playing the cream puffs OOC besides that 2 game Ohio St. series. A&M already scheduled Arkansas for the next 10 years and have Oregon and USC both on the schedule in the coming years but yes, it will be exciting seeing better compe ion coming in out of conference.

I think it was FSN who finally realized what they needed to do. The big12 had nothing to offer without getting a new TV deal.

from that aspect I tend to agree somewhat in the short term.......inevitably though I think a playoff system has to happen

The remaining 7 teams in the big 12 will also see pay increases and are estimated to make around $12 mil annually. For example Baylor made around $6-7 mil last year and this new deal will also double their revenue.

The other seven schools in the Big 12 would make between $14 million and $17 million, doubling what they currently receive in TV revenue.

If you knew you would know that it was a Graduate school until around 1994 then it turned into a 4 year school. So it has only been around for 16 years. Plus they focus on academics and give 2 s about a glorified division 2 school.

I dont think this agreement ensures the long time health of the Big 12. There is still a huge disparity in revenue between the top and bottom half of the conference, which is what started this to begin with. I expect we will revisist this issue in the next 5 years.
