Size does not equal fighting ability. Royce Gracie was an average sized dude who would have NFL and Rugby dudes crying with broken limbs.
yeah that's right, because anyone that doesn't agree that the US would beat anyone at everything if they bothered or that there's a conspiracy to them, means they envy Americans
You're such a ing clown. I honestly don't understand how you people fit your head through the ing door.

FWIW, Elano has no serious injury, so he should be ok for the next round...
Nobody said the US would automatically be the best at everything yet you keep arguing against that notion. That's what makes you out to be an envious chode.
Any more brilliant posts you reading comprehension impaired ?
rugby = everything?
your's hasn't been the only post of that nature. Just an example of it. Plus, since you've ammended your post, I actually agree with you. The US would be pretty darn good at rugby if they were interested in it.
I failed to see in that statement where he said the US would be good at EVERYTHING like you keep saying. All I saw was that he feels the US would dominate rugby. Rugby is hardly EVERYTHING.
Like I said his wasn't the only post of that nature. I wasn't only referring to his post.

I read, and didn't see where anyone said the US would be good at EVERYTHING. In fact, CH said that the US putting their best athletes to grow up playing futbol wouldn't mean they'd be the best. So where do you get that we think we'd be the best at everything?
Have you noticed who's standing atop the podium at the Olympics every single year, in both the Winter and Summer games? We ARE the best at more compe ions than anyone else in the world. Do you really think it's a coincidence that soccer really hasn't taken hold in this country yet and our team struggles to field talented players? Do you really not think you could take some athletes out of the NBA/NFL and potentially improve our team if those players had worked their whole lives building up towards soccer instead of using their talent to secure a D-I scholarship to a major school in their sport of choice?
You're telling me someone with the footspeed and coordination of Barry Sanders wouldn't have flourished on the soccer pitch? How about Don Beebe? Jerry Rice? How many NBA point guards would have had real potential in soccer?
It's speculative how much better the US would be. But it's not speculative to say that we WOULD have a better team, if players didn't mind making $200,000 a year instead of $5,000,000. Seriously, do you know how many dads in the USA hope their sons grow up to be pro soccer players? Not many at all.
I guess being in the top 15 in the world at a sport counts as being "not good" at something. But if you can't see the way the US is developing the MLS more every year, well, you'll have a rough awakening in 10-12 years when the US consistently fields a team favored to make the top 8 or the semifinals in almost every World Cup.
That's ridiculous. NFL players specialize because it helps them at their position. Rugby is a much more free-flowing game where players have to have generalized skill. A QB doesn't need to be tough to play (although it helps) because he's not supposed to get hit a lot. Why waste hours in the gym to bench 400 pounds if it won't help you on the field?
Larry Allen is definitely overweight, but how many rugby players do you know that can bench 225 pounds 41 times? I'd venture to say that one or two of them, at the very most.
Fat? Yeah, he's chunky. But would you want to be pushing against him in a scrum? I'm fairly certain he would move a pile effectively.
Ray Lewis says, " o." Yep. Lot of fat on that 6'1", 250 pound guy.
Dwight Freeney. 6'1", 268. You see much fat on him? I don't.
Tony Gonzalez. 6'5", 243.
I'm not attempting to take anything away from rugby players. But to just pass NFL linebackers and D-linemen off like they are nothing or that they would just get pushed around by rugby players is just absurd.
This thread is like what would happen if Microsoft, Apple, Sony, and Google got together for a world cup of fanboys
The same thing could be said to footballing nations. Do you really think, Brazil, Argentina, England, etc.. wouldn't be that dominant if basketball, Griderion was their main sport? A look into both sides of the discussion helps you know.Have you noticed who's standing atop the podium at the Olympics every single year, in both the Winter and Summer games? We ARE the best at more compe ions than anyone else in the world. Do you really think it's a coincidence that soccer really hasn't taken hold in this country yet and our team struggles to field talented players? Do you really not think you could take some athletes out of the NBA/NFL and potentially improve our team if those players had worked their whole lives building up towards soccer instead of using their talent to secure a D-I scholarship to a major school in their sport of choice?
lol comparing rugby to nfl
dude cmon seriously outside of america theres only a small following of nfl viewers, while rugby is a world game, not as wide as soccer
rugby viewers is not as big as the usa population who watches nfl, but its far more entertaining
i take both forms of rugby over nfl, at leasts you see guys throwing punches and without helmets and pads...
I thought this thread is Ivory Coasr vs. Brazil, but it has turned into Rugby vs. NFL.
wow. some of you guys are really creative when it comes to totally nonsense compe ion.
what do we turn Chile vs. Swiss into?
Tennis vs. Badminton?
Rugby players would win at Rugby and American football players would win at football. I watched both sports and think the rugby players are tougher. They take hard hits with less padding.
For whatever reason, the youtube video isn't embedding properly.

you're welcome![]()
Dude, Reggie got decleeted!
Man, that was a SICK hit--I remember seeing that one live.
too all the sons who nuthug nfl, one big hit means .. rugby means taking a load of hits in a match that in terms of effective play is much much longer. Take away the padding and the helmet (goodbye alot of crazy nfl hit using the helmet) and it's gladiator time.
Imagine 2 boxers: you train A 15 mins at max speed max strenght and then you put him to defend against max strength hits
you train B 5 x 15 mins at strong not max strength and speed and then you put him defend against strong not max strength but for 5 x times A had to defend.
Now tell me who is the better trained? Especially guys doing contact sport who know what I'm sayin here.
