No. Hop extract is made from hops. There is no chemical altering - the hop oil, alpha and beta acids are separated from the rest of the matter and put into the brew kettle. In the last few years, even craft brewers have been using this in addition to merely adding hops to the brew kettle. It can add a ridiculous amount of bitterness and hop flavor while reducing the need to filter. It was once looked down upon, but it has been turned on its head in recent years. Even though Budweiser is a watered down version of what it once was, craft brewing still couldn't survive without them. Them being the largest buyer of hops in the world on contract allows hop growers to purchase extra space and make selling lesser used varietals to craft brewers possible. The thing that makes Bud and the like lighter in body is the use of rice in the mash.
Thanks for clarifying. I took "hop extract" to mean chemicals when I was informed of this.

I stand by my statement that Budweiser is absolutely horrible beer, though.

Yeah, it's not too great. Thing is, they hire some of the most skilled brewers in the world. Making beer on that grand a scale is nothing to sniff at, and an absolute technical marvel. If you ever have a chance to visit a place like Coors in Golden, Budweiser in St Louis, or any other giant brewer don't miss out on it. At the last Great American Beer Festival Coors brought a pre-prohibition recipe they had dug out of the archives, and it was great. Think Coors Original with more body, and a nice hop bitterness. It was a hit and the keg was gone within an hour with just one ounce pours.

So let me guess: You watch TV on a 13 inch screen in your living room, right
That's such a silly thing to say, I thought you were better than that.

Anything can be too big, but especially a cellphone. Now I've never said that I think the EVO is too big, rather that as a matter of personal preference, for ME, it's too big, BUT the idea that a cellphone can't be too big, and to back that idea up by saying people don't watch 13 inch tv's is absurd.

If Apple had made an iPhone the size of the iPad you would have been the first guy in here saying "What the were they thinking". A TV set that you sit on average 12 FEET away from, isn't the same as a cellphone that on average you view from 12 INCHES away.

What a stupid ing argument to try to prove your point.

Since I watch a 46 inch tv, I guess I'll be happy when HTC makes a 46 inch EVO 34G

Just curious... when he said, "Evo users are compensating for something", that's all well and good, but you find something objectionable about what I'm saying?

I have no interest in having a rational debate with someone who comes into a thread exclusively to whine about how people are talking about the subject of said thread. It makes no sense to do so. So no, I'm not going to try to bother to be reasonable when he's intentionally being an ass.

Honestly I didn't read what he wrote, I only read what you wrote because I *thought* it would be worth reading.

And if screen size has any direct correlation to penis size, I'd better get one of those KIN ONE's.

The good thing about the EVO is that it will probably help Sprint stay afloat and avoid bankruptcy, especially after the Palm Pre flop.
It would suck if the only two cell operators left would be AT&T and Verizon...

I have an evo. Love it

I don't want to push the evo over the iPhone to anyone. In fact I want no one else to have it. let them get the iPhone..I don't care. It's awesome to discover diamonds in the rough. Not literally of course..I'm sure lots of people have the evo.

    Well done.

That was actually one of the MAIN selling points for me and this phone. EVERYONE and their ing mother's MOTHER have the iPhone. I liked having the Evo that so many people had heard about, but no one had seen.

Any time I hafta make a call or I'm just ing w/ it, someone can usually be heard "Oooh...is that the Evo? Damn, man, that's slick."

Man that phone looks slick, but its huge. I like a small form factor when I need to carry a phone around. The little kick stand looks awesome to show it off on your desk though.

Truth be told, when I made the "compensation" comment, I was getting ready for work early in the morning and just trolling for entertainment. It worked.

As for the Evo brow beaters, there sure is an iPhone thread in this forum, and if you read it, you'll see Evo people trying to convince everyone else how much better it is than the iPhone. Why can't they stick to the Evo thread?

Finally, about the previous iPhones, I don't own one. Never have. Never had a use for it. Thought they were cool but unnecessary for me. However, since I'm taking on more responsibilities at work, having a smart phone seems like a good idea, especially for email.

And since my birthday was on Sunday, I figured since I got for my b-day and Father's Day, I'd give myself a nice gift and for once buy myself the latest gadget. And since I'm on AT&T, that gadget would be the iPhone. If I was on Sprint, it would be the Evo.

I don't have any problems with dropped calls because in San Antonio, AT&T has good representation. When I was with Sprint, I could always count on a few places to drop a call. However, I never drop any calls in those same areas with AT&T. In fact, it is extremely rare that I drop any calls.

I actually don't have any qualms with either phone. I was just reading about the Evo because I know people at work who've been raving about it. But I had to comment on the iPhone "fanboys" comment being made because the only fanboys I've seen are Evo people constantly talking about how much better the Evo is (both online and in real life). It's like the Evo people have inferiority complex because they constantly have to tell you that the Evo is better, if only to validate their purchase.

As I said earlier, both phones are cool as , so who really cares what you get. I'm getting my phone based on my carrier. Other than that, I really don't care one way the other. The only thing that matters to me is that it doesn't have Windows Mobile (I passed up getting the HTC Pure because of that). Something about that OS rubs me the wrong way.

Oh yeah, I have two TVs both 32". I would never really go past 42" on my TV. Well MAYBE 46" but definitely not bigger, unless I win the lottery and get a huge ass house with a big ing entertainment room. Then I'm definitely getting the 55" Samsung LED TV. Now that is sweet.

But since I live in an apartment, I don't need a TV over 42" if even that. I don't need to be able to see my TV clearly without my glasses. And I'm ing blind.

What the are you talking about?

So let me guess: You watch TV on a 13 inch screen in your living room, right?

You're still using this for your home PC, right?

And I'll bet the first time you got an iPod Video/iPod Touch, you said, "Wow, this is great... if only they can make the screen smaller, it would be so much better!"

Your argument is equally hilarious because when the iPhone was released, it had the largest display available in the American market. Were you banging the "compensation" drum then, too?

Bigger might not be always better, but in the case of the Evo, it is. It's got a higher resolution than any of the previous iPhones, it has a fantastic touchscreen with haptic feedback, great colors, and is massively bright. There's a reason magazines have raved about the ability to watch movies on it enjoyably. If big screens weren't nice to have, you wouldn't see plasma/LED TVs, you wouldn't see the Nintendo DS consistently getting remade with a larger screen, etc.

But no, the MOST hilarious thing about your comment is the "phone" portion. Because the "phone" aspect of the iPhone has been the part that it has most been criticized for, since apparently the iPhone did everything well except... you know... actually making calls. I have a friend in NYC who still has trouble making calls with the iPhone in the middle of the day. I loved my iPhone when I had it, but it dropped about 30% of the calls I made with it. I'll post to this thread when my Evo drops a call without a sufficient reason (i.e., going into the DC subway).

Yes. We're beating you over the head with it. That's why you're wandering into a thread ABOUT THE EVO, right? This is pretty much the only thread about the phone on the site, other than the "Cell Phone Recommendation" thread in The Club a couple weeks ago. Why do you click on a thread about a phone and then start whining when people are... gasp... talking about that phone and comparing it to other phones in the thread?

You're in the Evo thread. Go away if you'd prefer to talk about the iPhone. There's even a thread below this one for it.

That's the most ignorant statement you could possibly make. Coca Cola and Budweiser depend on their name brand to carry them. Budweiser is beer. As anyone who knows a little about the brewing process. They'll tell you how horrific Bud is. Do you realize that they don't even use real hops when they make that beer? They just squirt a chemically altered hop-type substance into the brewer to create it.

Of course, it makes sense that you equate sales with quality. Because the mass public are educated consumers, and know what is the best to buy, right? Gillette Razors, Bose headphones, HP computers, the Nintendo Wii, and Coke. Coca Cola is definitely the best soda on the planet.

I like having discussions about tech. I'm passionate about anything I'm going to invest my time and money in. I work in IT. What's the problem here? Why are you on an internet forum if you don't like animated discourse?
