Nah, it is just a respect thing and and excitability thing.
Nah, it's an average BBiq thing. He averaged a load of fouls in D-League play, too.

zosa's really trying to justify losing a player who has potential to be a solid rotation big. Enjoy Matt Bonner I guess.

Matt Bonner > Ian, and it's not even that close.

    Enjoy your D-League superstar/anchor/the Savior.

Ian is soft, passive, and foul prone. I mean you literally forget he's on the court at times, that's how passive he is lol. Either way none of those traits are good for a big man. Especially in a system where Defense is the highest priority. So yeah GL to Ian. He will fit nicely in Dallas.

Why don't you tell that to the majority of mouth breathers upstairs who would've rather kept Ian than T-rex.

Just keep trying to continue justifying one of the worst starters in the NBA

Wow. Soft and passive aren't the adjectives I would use in order to describe Ian when Matt Bonner will be receiving minutes on the Spurs.

I have. Many times. They choose stupidity and blindness, I'm afraid, because Bonner is mentally weak.

Just keep trying to continue justifying one of the worst starters in the NBA
Nice change of story and pace. According to your very last post, I was justifying "losing him for Matt Bonner." Now I'm "justifying" one of the worst starters in the league, whatever that means.

lol @ half-trolls like yourself bringing the forum down.

What does Matt Bonner have to do with everything he said about Ian being true?

Matt Bonner as a starter is a joke I completely agree. I can live with him being a role player of the bench though. Since when is this thread about Bonner anyways? I thought this was about the 2nd coming of David Robinson?

lol "losing" ian for matt bonner when ian never played a single meaningful NBA minute in his entire career and was being paid the minimum

Man that's bringing a worthy contribution to the table.

We could have paid Ian to stay and didn't even pick up his last year's option. That sure is defined as losing him alright

Mahinmi looks like he needs to add some strength/mass in his lower body to hold his ground right now. Besides that, he looks pretty solid.

Bonner at this moment has proven to be better than Ian, but Ian > Bonner if he gets playing time. Obviously it does not take much to be better than Bonner so that does not mean Ian will be very good.

I think he can be though. Ian right now does not have one thing that is for sure NBA level accept athleticism. Bonner for all his suck at least has a legit NBA 3-PT shot*.

But Ian can be a lot better all around than Bonner if he comes around.

Ian has some interesting skills but he's not talented enough to be a starter. He still hasn't learned how to play without fouling and his handles are like a cross between Malik Rose and some random white guy. Best case scenario is he becomes a defensive specialist who plays at most 20 MPG.
I agree...if we're lucky, one day he'll be as good as Serge Ibaka.

    * except game 2 in '09 and Games 3 and 4 vs Suns in '10

I honestly think this was a big step for Bonner. Next year, he should come out firing play off time, like he did in against the Suns in his final games.

Well, if he can stay out of foul trouble, he could be pretty good. Hasn't been able to do that yet.

I think allowing him to play consistently and to get a rhythm will help somewhat. To what degree, I am not sure.

But if you are a 15MPG player, the fouling becomes less important.
