    Only reason why he might prefer Dallas or NY over LA is if he wants to remain the best player on his team but still be on a playoff team that he's delusional enough to think would contend. In LA he'd obviously have to take a backseat to Kobe and in the 4th quarter would be nothing more than a spot up shooter. In New York and Dallas he'd run pick and rolls with two of the best p/r bigs in basketball and would still be considered the best player on a team that wins 50+ games and could easily advance to the 2nd round.
