As for golf being a sport or not, imo golf is the most demanding sport I've ever played having played football, tennis, track, basketball through college and I like to do a little compe ive walking when I have the time.
The amount of mental focus needed to hit a tiny ass white ball 400 plus yards into a cup the size of a large coffe mug in 4 strokes or less is simply insane on the difficulty meter.
As for Tiger, I've always been a fan of his regardless of his activities off the golf course. I just enjoyed watching him play the game at a level that, unless you've played golf, have no idea how hard it is to maintain that kind of consistency.
I think his problem at this point is that he can't devote the amount of time he used to in the past to his craft. His body has begun to break down more and more, his mental game is in the toilet, and there are now a bunch of young 20 something year old golfers on tour that can hit the ball a mile, are strong mentally, and most importantly they aren't scared or intimidated by Tiger or any other verteran on tour. I used to think him beating Jack's record was just a matter of time, now I have some serious doubts that he'll ever get past 18 majors.
So he just cheated, no big deal and to with Elin??? LMAO........what? Tiger was having unprotected sex with porn stars and 6-7 other women while he was impregnating his WIFE!!!! And you hate Elin? He was putting his whole family.......... kids included in danger with STDs and possibly HIV.
I think people are writing him off a little too soon. Yeah, he just played a horrible 72 holes (for him) but I think most golfers have had bad weekends. I suspect the embarrassing loss will motivate him to get his ass to the driving range and get his game back.
The tighter he holds onto golf, the more it will slip through his fingers...just like sand.

Irregardless, I don't really care. Tiger's kids, don't matter to me. His wife, doesn't matter to me. What Tiger does on his own time, including damaging his wife and kids, doesn't matter to me. The only thing Tiger possesses that I care one iota about is his golf game. A game that is bigger than his wife, his kids, or family values in general.
A game that is currently destroyed because his wife thought that her being cheated on was more important than the sport that made her into a billionaire and captivated millions and millions of people every weekend for a decade plus. Elin's honor is not more important than golf, not even close, and her melodramatic over-reaction to finding out she was just just another trophy wife of a rich, famous, athletic man is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. Yeah Tiger made his own bed and he gets to sleep in it, but that doesn't mean Elin gets to burn the house down around him.

While I agree with this 100%, it's never gonna be how society thinks. People love to victimize the wives of athletes because they get cheated on, and it's in stupid. It's a great deal for them and everyone acts like being married to an unfaithful pro athlete is some hardship. Yeah maybe these women get cheated on, but 9 times out of 10 the wife of an athlete is a broad too stupid to ever get a job and stand on her own two feet. When you're a dumb who's most lucrative option in life is being a trophy wife, then having a husband who cheats is a small tradeoff for never having to worry about money or working while being able to buy whatever you want without thinking twice about it.

looks like Video gamers are closer to being athletes than golfers are.
If you compare the minute muscular movements of two opposable thumbs, to the massive coordination of your entire body's muscles, (from your toes, to your quads, to your entire core, to your biceps, to your sternomastoids) you are a re .
If you get a cardiorepiratory workout from playing video games, then you are obese and need to get on a treadmill. Or walk a golf course.

Console gamers use more than just two thumbs as well. Index both index fingers come into play!
and the Nintendo Wii uses a lot more than that.

Ever tried to understand what carpenters go through? Takes an incredible amount of skill and strength to chop, carve, and bend wood into the shapes you want.
Carpenters = athletes
It takes more strength and stamina to be a carpenter than it does to be a golfer. Not to mention skill. Takes years of practice to be a good carpenter.
I can't help it that golf deserves it. I don't play regularly any more because it's bourgeois and a big schlep. But I spent enough time in Nike (y'know the sports company, deniers) golf camps as a kid to have profound respect. Especially for professional level golf.
