How portable do you want it to be?

I just bought the Alienware M11x. It will run Diablo really well when it comes out, although it's a tiny laptop (11" screen, 4.5 pounds). But it has an HDMI out if you want to game on a TV or larger monitor, and you can find the laptop on slickdeals sometimes for around $700. Totally worth it IMO, this laptop is great.

Other than that, I think Asus makes a well priced mid-range laptop with a decent GPU for around $700.
I'd consider returning the M11x if I were you (I have the original core2duo model). Great laptop, with the crappiest hinges on the market. They're guaranteed to loosen and crack after a few months. I've seen this problem on my co-worker's M11x, as well as the in-store model at our local Best Buy. Had to send mine to Dell last week for repairs.

Also, regarding screen resolutions, most professionals prefer 1920x1200 vs. 1080p. Gives you extra screen estate.

Who wants a 1200p portable computer? Good luck telling the difference on a 15 inch screen.
You can definitely tell the difference. I could tell the difference between 1600x900 and 1920x1080 on a 13 inch screen, and I don't have perfect eyesight.

It really has nothing to do with eyes. You just fell for a marketing gimmick which disguises the fact that a 1200 is just a 1080 worked around. That 1080 and 1200 won't make a difference as manny said even if you can see "small details".
Just the opposite, really. 16:10 used to be the standard widescreen ratio
for laptops and monitors. The only reason that 1080p is prevalent today is because it's cheaper to produce, and it's an easy marketing gimmick. You'll find that most business laptops still use 16:10 panels. I personally think the extra screen estate is invaluable.

    Absolutely.

However, these people will do all they can to disagree with me. I think they're jealous.

I don't think there are enough lolcat pictures in the world to convey my feelings about this statement.

Serious question here: Is it just black surgeons you don't trust, or would you similarly distrust other minorities, such as Mexicans/Hispanics?

Would you specifically ask for a white doctor?

I will no longer post off topic here. For the Black Surgeon comment, go to post #59 of here:

OH NOES.....Did Obamessiah say what I think he said.

I got an extended warranty on it. I've heard about the hinges. There just isn't anything else in the market like it right now, so I think I am going to keep it.

I like the specs of the Alienware, but the case is crap. Isn't it. Maybe we can pe ion Dell to make changes?

So do you have "super eyes" to see those pixels at 135 dpi?

    I have a 17" laptop @ 1920x1200

    I have an 11" laptop @ 1366x768

    and a desktop 22" display @1650x1080.

Of the 3 displays, I by far prefer the desktop. The expanse of a 22 inch monitor, as well as the quality of the visuals, are simply better on it than anything else I've used before. It's nearly on par with my Panasonic plasma TV.

Pixel density is not the only indicator of the quality of a monitor.

Very true. I was just playing with the "super eyes" theme that people want to tag me with for wanting a 17" laptop at 133 dpi, when yours is 135 dpi.

I prefer my 24.1" 1920 x 1200 over a 17" of the same resolution, but would you say that your 17" is a waste of resolution?
