I believe Crayton's highest reception total was 50, and the only time he got over 40. Dallas gets a 6th round pick if he catches over 40 for SD I believe. He simply made too much money and whined too much to keep around. Not counting new rookie salaries, Cowboys have cleared over 16 mill in salaries, which hopefully bodes well for a long time deal for Miles Austin.

What? Crayton was a 45 catch, 700 yd, 3 to 4 TD consistent receiver. He had one drop against the Giants but otherwise was very consistent. The Cowboys don't have depth for that.

They have Miles, who they hope can repeat one great season.

They have Roy who has been horrible here, has never had timing with Romo, and now they are banking on him to step up and contribute big. Big problem.

They have Dez, who is very injury prone so far, he hasn't been able to stay healthy through OTAs or camp and now if he goes down or has rookie issues the Cowboys are ed.

Hurd is a special teamer who is far worse than Crayton as a receiver. Ogletree is extremely inconsistent and has regressed since last year.

That's all they got. This team is incredibly weak at WR unless Roy pulls a miracle season and Dez manages to stay healthy and not have rookie problems. Jerry is a ing moron.
They had to keep Miles, Roy and Dez. They would have got nothing in exchange for Hurd and Ogletree and those two are cheaper.

Crayton had 37 catches last year and never caught more than 4 in a game and had a small bit of trade value. Witten also takes a lot of passes away from the 2nd and 3rd wide receivers.

That said, I think Crayton was a productive enough receiver/returner to keep.

The problem was not trading Crayton, imo. The problem for me was drafting Dez Bryant in the first round instead of an o-lineman, thus forcing the trade of Crayton.

Eh their O-line problems are overblown in my book. When they balance their offense and force the defense to defend the run pass protection isn't an issue. When they have to abandon the run like they did against Minnesota and DEs don't have to worry about sealing the edge, their O-line's strength/size becomes less of an advantage and their lack of quickness becomes more of a disadvantage. If possible Dallas should be running the ball greater than 50% of the time.

Definitely dont agree with what the Cowboys did these last few days. Cutting Crayton is a huge mistake imho, and getting rid of both McCann and Gordan doesn't make sense to me.

..they cut Cletis? Big mistake. Jamar Wall was a major bust, also..I thought Jesse or Manny could have been the 6th, if they kept 6 receivers, but apparently they got cut too. I'm glad Gronkowski made it, though I'm a bit surprised Sicko didn't...things should get interesting from here.

How can a 6th round pick be considered a major bust?

The team was expecting a little more from him...just didn't live up to it..couldn't make it as a Cowboy..good enough to be on the Texans though.

Sure he didn't pan out but a 6th rounder can't be a major bust.

Yeah they picked him up and he will probably never see the field except on special teams. He probably just needs some decent coaching.

It's a low risk-moderate reward for Houston. Did Dallas pick up anyone from the waiver wire or are they going with 3 CBs?

Cutting Crayton means that there was no room for Jesse or Manny. I'm a little happy to see that they didn't make a knee jerk move and keep one of those two.

They're expecting Akinari-Oweihwigh (whatever his name is) to play slot if one of the top 3 go down. Then they'll bring down Ball to play corner and get Hamlin to take his spot or vice versa.

Gordon looked ok against lesser compe ion but I think he'll be useless going up against other team's starters.

signed Scott Chandler from the Giants for TE depth, but haven't heard anything about any new CBs...Alan Ball and Owusu-Ansah can play CB if we need them to, but we should have kept Cletis Gordon....can't believe we cut him.
