This. MJ was 40 years old and walking on one leg and a young Kobe could finally shine. Seriously, why the f*ck do you need such an idiotic stat, Laka? I don't give a how old he was, jackass. MJ made the mistake of trying to show Kobe up in the house that Kobe built, and Kobe busted his ass for it. The Pistons didn't give a about Kareem being 40 when they busted his old ass, so why should we care about MJ being so stupid to come out of retirement to try and prove something in Kobe's era.

I was at that game, and I remember MJ during warm-ups walking around like he was going to give LA one last glimpse of how great he was. He started off on fire hitting 5-6 shots. The tongue was wagging, the swagger was going, and all of a sudden, Kobe snapped. MJ refused to pass the torch, so Kobe snatched it from his ass that night. That was Kobe simply telling MJ... THIS IS MY LEAGUE NOW.

I'll give Kobe credit for dominating the post-Duncan/Shaq era. Beating teams like the recent Jazz, Suns, Nuggets, and Yao-less Rockets is no easy feat. I agree with you with Shaquille being the main man in those three peat teams, but if you were to give an MVP award to one player in the real 2001 NBA finals between the Spurs and the Lakers, who would it be? Obviously Bean Bryant. Was totally the best player on the floor and dominated with Shaquille on the floor and when he was on the bench.

That year, IMO Kobe was the best player in the Playoffs, he was a beast in the playoffs and i though he should have been MVP in the finals too...
