Also I'm going to name it Tyson, what does everyone think about that as a pittbull name tbh?
I don't know. That's a pretty generic and obvious way to go but if it works for you, go for it.

what is normal cat behavior anyway? theyre the most bipolar species i know.
Well, like dogs, cats are all individuals with different personalities. Breed also plays a role in determining "normal cat behavior." But, generally, cats don't like their own crap. It's the reason they bury it. And the reason their mood/behavior can change drastically if the litter box isn't kept clean. I can't imagine any reason a cat would eat its own feces other than, as someone else suggested, illness. They just don't do that.

Sounds like the only requirement you have in training is that they do not bite people which is good. I have higher demands on dogs. Any animal that shows aggressive behavior humans is removed from my home immediately.

But take people with dachshunds, cavalier king charles spaniels, collies or golden retrievers. They bark at any and everything. You constantly hear people talking about how they like to have the dog to alert them of intruders and allow a knock on the door or the doorbell to trigger the response. Drives me crazy.

And dear lord they are dumb. You can open the door, show them the outside, even take them outside and ring the doorbell and they will freak out.

You have to teach them to not where they eat and even then it does not stick all the time. Most people will do that and that is about it. The rest of the behavior is passed off as cute and expected. I think the accusations towards work ethic are a bit misplaced.

I know how to heel train a dog and the like. I just have about 8 billion things I would rather be doing.

No, the reason cats bury their crap is instinct. It's to hide the smell from predators so they can't detect their presence and come wreck their face, for instance, like a dog.

Dogs have Masters; Cats have Staff

If Cats could talk, they would lie to you!

I have two cats and they have distinct personalities and they are great cats. I'd rather have a cat because they're less maintenance. I can go away for the weekend and all I have to do is make sure the litter box is clean and they have plenty of food and water.

Thats not the point. Dogs like to eat . They are carrion eaters that will eat anything that even remotely smells of food.

I wouldn't lump Golden's in there with any spaniels or dachshunds, and collies are herders and will bark to protect flock. Golden's are one of the easiest going breeds and easiest to train. Do they have a lot of energy as a puppy, sure, but they're not big barkers (unless they're bored and stuck in a house all day) and they are quite smart. They are also one of the best dogs for getting along with other animals (large and small) and putting up with kids and their bull . They're one of the most used breeds for service and therapy dogs. Not sure what was going on with the ones you've seen.

Except that cats don't, though. I did some searching last night just to satisfy my curiosity and see if maybe I was wrong, but I found absolutely nothing indicating it as part of typical (or even common) feline behavior.

Never have and never will own a cat. I had a roommate once who had a cat and the apartment smelled like cat and piss. Litter boxes are nasty. Take that crap outside!

I looked also and there was nothing. In fact I also didn't see anything that indicated it was considered normal behavior for a healthy, well adjusted dog.

It's true litter boxes can be nasty, but it's not because of the cat. Get rid of the roommate, keep the cat and litter box, and just make a little effort for your clean, odor-free apartment

Sons the first pet I get once I'm done with college a pure bred pittbull and I'm training it to tear something to shreds on my command. Lets see someone do that with a in cat.
Also I'm going to name it Tyson, what does everyone think about that as a pittbull name tbh?

People tend to be horrified to find their dog is eating feces from the cat litter box. One of the first questions they ask is whether this means the dog has a nutritional deficiency. Since the behavior is common even in the most well nourished dogs, the fact that they like the taste is a more likely reason. It's not a good idea to allow it to happen, and training is not a reliable option for a behavior that provides the dog with a "tasty treat"-tasty to the dog, that is.

Cleaning your ass versus eating every piece of cat you can get your muzzle into or any really? is there much of a difference?

The only reason Cats are ever even taken seriously in this age-old debate is (A) women (B) Lions/Tigers/Panthers (C) lonely men who wish they were women.

Dogs are far superior to the domesticated cat. There is no compe ion. This is just a fact.
