I should probably google or wiki it, but my understanding is that in black culture, there is the "one drop" rule. Basically, if you have one drop of African American blood, you're considered black.

Now I don't know the origins but I think that it could go probably go back centuries and how mixed people were viewed by white folks and/or by the law. I wouldn't be surprised if a "one drop" rule was something, for example, states and the federal government used as to deny people the right to vote before the 15th Amendment.

I never understood that. I was born in Bosnia, and I never understood why people are so sensitive to that. Whenever someone asks me where I'm from, or what language I'm speaking, I say "Bosnian, or Serbian, I don't know I can't really tell the difference, maybe in the dialects or something" but when I go back to Serbia if I call their language Bosnian or something, they get upset
