haven't you seen mel gibson in mad max, thats what we are all like
First getting spanked by the British in the ashes and now this. Not a good year to be an aussie.
Whats ed is our prime minister saying she can give 13million dollars from the federal government right now but they're happy to spend upwards of 1billion over the next 3-4 years on stupid ing boat people and Indonesia.
When her own voters are suffering she still can't get her head out of her ass.
PS Good luck, I've been catching bits and pieces on sky news 24/7 coverage, but that water will take ages and I can't imagine the type of thats gunna be found there. There are some pretty sad stories coming out and only going to get worse.
FAIL
if you going to blame the PM, you should also blame ur state government, they had the opportunity to co-operate with the other 2 southern states to build a pipeline that would channel most of queenslands flood waters to the other states storages running low on water. Both levels of govts are slow to react on aid and to the ppl out there in the community affected by the floods.
this will hurt queensland and australias economy, but it aint that bad imo.
i guess this country is not mentally and physically prepared for this type natural disasters even after learning from usa katrina, or the victorian bushfires....we aint a 3rd world country, we should be well equip to handle this , but we waste more time talking a load of horse then implementing solutions to the problems due to govt red tape and bull from stake holders.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the Aussies.
Not from QLD, from NSW, but building a pipeline is a pretty bad financial move too. That would have taken years to build and as you pointed out the governments would have spent half the time talking about how it should be done. No pipeline would hold that kinda water anyway. The dam the QLD gov't built to stop this kind of event occuring after the 1974 floods reached 120% capacity and had to be released.
The Australian government isn't slow to aid the rest of the world however, always trying to show to the rest of the world how we help when no gives a about us.
We'll have to wait and see how much is put into the infrastructure of QLD after the clean-up begins to really see what the both state and federal governments do.
the states shouldve handed over control of the water system to the federal govt instead of trying to play politics, the pipeline will be a long project to finish just like the current NBN, but there will be benefits when its finish instead of wasting money building desal plants. A pipeline will allow better allocation of water where its needed, instead of the current system where they just suck out one communities water storage supplies to another.
water restrictions is a
don't. A friend used to go there 3 times a week. working on his 2nd heart attack.
Just saw the latest footage from Brisbane. That's some ed up !
Hope you guys are OK.
And my team also lost to the most hated team in Australian sport this year along with losing to the dirt POMs.![]()
Someone explain to me the reasoning behind just sitting there, waiting for these catastrophic floods to reach you and ask for people to pray for your well being... GET THE OUT OF THERE! Get to somewhere safe. I don't get it.
b/c it takes gasoline to relocate, and the Lord Humongous has it all
are there sharks in the water?
Alls well for me, wish I could say the same about a lot of other people
yeah big great whites in the waters, gettin dangerous
Thats pretty ing crazy.
cause those fkn clowns are idiots who thought the flood wouldnt reach them or clowns who didnt buy insurance to protect their house and contents for flood damage. I cant wait till the flood is over, those clowns will be cherry picking freeloading wanting a handout to rebuild their houses....
im surprise there has been no siting of crocs lurking
From a newsletter:
"The area underwater now is bigger than Texas, bigger than France and Germany combined, and covers 75 percent of Queensland -- home to 4.5 million souls."
Brisbane is 27d S, while SA is 29d N, subtropical, and both have about 2M people metro area.
I know the situation is sad but this is funny...
