i never said i would do the trade
i havent seen splitter play to see how well his game actually translates to the NBA, how skilled he actually is, etc...
but we know for a fact, that in the small spurs when Oden was healthy, he was a very solid NBA player.
so id say that doing a trade like that is a high-risk, high-reward trade, while keeping splitter is low-risk, unknown-reward. just depends on the mentality of the person who would consider such a trade. personally, if splitter hasnt been able to get any minutes over freaking Bonner and McDyess, then he obviously isn't all that great. Pop doesnt strike me as a guy who despises playing rookies just for the sake of it, like Larry Brown, Avery Johnson, and Rick Carlisle. I think if he truly was a good player, he would be getting more minutes with the Spurs. But we dont know for sure.
