Given the cir stances, Denver did a damn great job with Melo. Props to them.

The situation doesn't look good on the James Anderson front and it's problematic. The biggest perimeter player Spurs have on the bench is Gary Neal. It isn't a comfortable situation for a team with championship aspirations.

Spurs should really consider doing a trade for a SF. Here is a list of realistic targets that can be get with Quinn's salary and/or who are paid the minimum:
    Dominic McGuire
    Derrick Brown
    Joey Graham
    Tracy Mcgrady
    Reggie Williams
    Chris Douglas-Roberts
    Stephen Graham
    Quinton Ross
    Quincy Pondexter
    Bill Walker
    Donte Greene
    Sonny Weems

Off course, Spurs will need to add a little something depending on the level of the player. To get the best ones, it will take a first round pick but some could be off the market.
I would add Corey Brewer onto this target list. Of course, the Knicks just acquired him from the Wolves, in an afterthought trade to the larger one. I doubt that he could be dealt again so soon or if the Knicks would even want to part with him for, say a first-round pick? However IIRC, I do believe he has an expiring contract, so he could be had over the offseason.

You don't think RJ is legit? Or do you mean off the bench.

Luc Mbah a Moute would be a perfect pickup. Perimeter D is our biggest need right now and he's one of the best at his position.

doubt that Mil would take Quinn/1st Rounder or rights to Nando for him because he seems like a Skiles type guy but he'd be a great addition.

I've limited the list to players whose salary was low enough that they could be acquired with Quinn or the minimum salary exception. Brewer salary is $3.7M. If Spurs want to get him they will need to trade a player like Splitter or Bonner to match salaries.

    Wish?
    Why not?
Contracts not terrible. Playing well - not sure he's the defensive stopper we all wish.

If no trade happens, either Splitter or Anderson (or both) may have to step up IMO.

In fact, I can't believe how good the Spurs have been thus far with virtually no contribution from either of those two. Not in a million years would I have believed it.

Thabeet is getting about 8 minutes a game and doing nothing noteworthy on the court. There's no chance he gets any kind of playing time on a Pop team.

    Gotcha.

Still, he'll be free this summer, so if the Spurs do like him, perhaps they'll have a shot at him then.

Al thornton??? He is sitting on the wizards bench not getting any minutes. He is making less than 3 million in the final year of his contract. He has some size and is athletic. Plays the three and would be greatful of the winning environment. Send James Anderson and Chris Quinn. Thornton has a higher window than J.A.
