Is it any surprise that in the past two pages the two biggest critics of Casey's actions are female (CF and Ploto)? I'm not trolling when I say that it's so typical for girls to be naive when it comes to fighting and social humiliation and how they relate to hormones, especially testosterone and epinephrine. Bottom line, Casey showed GREAT restraint
They don't understand that this is how guys achieve group status in school. Girls do it different, by being y and cliquey. Same process, different methodology.

It's a nice theory that he should have walked away, but it's worse if you do that, and the kid is smaller than you. He would have been punched, kicked, and slammed into lockers for the rest of the year. Now, he can walk the halls. Even that really tall kid that was fronting afterwards really didn't want any part of him. In that case, because he demonstrated what he could do, he COULD simply face him down, and then walk away.

I think from a psychological standpoint, the whole "I can't back down from a smaller kid" mentality never entered the picture for the fat kid. He was taking punches, then reacted. Some of his body language actually shows a little shame in his actions, like he didn't want to do it. Really interesting. The showdown with the other kid at the end was really animalistic too, like the fat guy was like "mutha a, you ain't worth my time" and calmly vanished into the night.

He did the other taller bully a big favor by walking away. CROFL at tall bully being a young dumbass thinking he has a shot simply because he's tall and not fat, doesn't know that at that age especially, body mass means everything and he would not stand a chance vs. OG Casey

that piece of was the most annoying part of the video! He's just a ing crony. Walks up to him and just stares at him like he's gonna do something, then waits till Casey walks off before moving any farther. That little wasn't gonna do . The same type of person that'll pull the ol "HOLD ME BACK, BETTER HOLD ME BACK!" while praying in his mind that people actually will hold him back so he doesn't have to actually do anything

LOL at the woman in the video saying he should have walked away. Someone starts at a bar, then yeah, walk; you never know if you'll get jumped by his 5 friends, stabbed, shot, or in the best case get sent to jail. At school though, no way he can back down. He'll see that same prick every single day and have to take the same punches over and over.

You must not have gone to the same middle school that I attended because there the vast majority of fights were between girls.

    Firstly, this is bull .

Secondly, if you actually paid attention to my comments, you'd notice that I said specifically I wasn't really referring to anything that happened in the video. I was referring to the comments posted in response. I could have made the same point in the thread about the guy who put a woman in a coma over a parking spot. In both cases, people attempted to justify a violent reaction with the suggestion that this stuff just happens in the heat of the moment. Again, I don't get how a lack of control became a viable excuse.

Do I expect, in either situation, for people to have the composure to just walk away from someone actively hitting them? Not necessarily. I've never been in a physical altercation (other than getting smacked by my mom when I was a kid), but I doubt sincerely that I'd be able to just walk away from someone provoking me in that way because I know I can have a bit of a temper. So, yeah, I get it. Doesn't mean I think it's the appropriate response, however. And certainly doesn't mean I think that losing one's temper serves as an excuse for such a response.

If he maintained composure, or tried to just walk away, he would be picked on for the rest of the school year.
I don't buy it. Not long term, at least. Bullies are looking for a response. Go long enough without giving them the response they're looking for, and they'll eventually move on to someone who will. It's part of the reason no one really ed with me in middle/high school; I didn't get involved in drama, I didn't cry or throw a fit when being teased, and I generally made myself a boring target.

Same here. Guys didn't fight much on campus. Mostly just stare each other down and ask each other to bring it for five minutes before a couple punches were thrown and it was over. The girls were brutal, though. Earrings came off, weaves got tied up, and it was ing on.

Growing up as a military brat I spent the first month at every new school getting suspended for not taking off of the bullies who wanted to test the new kid. So it doesn't suprise me that the kid got suspended.

What does seem different from when I was growing up is that they say the parents of the little brat are seeking crimminal charges against the kid who just defended himself. My parents would have kicked my ass a second time for being a bully and then a 3rd time for being a stupid bully.
    This.

Werd. I've said it a few times here but I come from a family of educators and all of them have said the same thing about fighters from ages 8-18. With guys 90% of the time it's more pride than anything else. No one wants to fight so much as there's no way to save face if you back down. So they face off and jaw at each other as long as they can but eventually someone has to make a move. With girls when it's time to throw down no one's stopping for anything and gets real violent real quick.

It would be interesting to see if the women on here saying he reacted too violently because the kid was smal would say the same thing if they were being raped/mugged by a smaller man and a bigger man slammed the out of him even though he could have subdued him with more ease.

No offense CF, but that is one load of crap right there. I've known kids who were bullied all through highschool even though they never responded. There are all kinds of bullies and sometimes just standing there and taking it is exactly what they're hoping you'll do.

Now, I understand you have your experiences and ideally the right scenario here would have been for the big kid to walk away, but I think that is being completely unrealistic.

I think we can all agree that body slamming the kid wasn't the best resolution, but I damn sure don't hold it against Casey. Society as a whole shouldn't be more concerned with finding out why kids like Casey lose control but rather why kids like that scrawny kid think treating others like that is acceptable.

and lastly, you have to admit, if you've never been in a physical altercation, you DON'T actually GET IT.

The only altercation i have been in was when i was at work, i know possibly the worst place for it to happen. I can honestly say without a doubt when people told me "you shouldnt have hit back" is bull , when someone hits you, your gonna hit back its human idgaf what anyone says, i for one applaud casey for doing for what he did. That little prick got what he deserved and the fact some of the people on this board are saying casey was wrong in the way he retaliated, have someone punch you in the face and lets see how you react. I guarantee you wont think about keeping composure.

    Yep.

Apparently CF has never seen the type of individual that enjoys causing other people pain. There's a good chance that if Casey turns and walks away, the kid follows him down the hallway, punching him the whole time. It's ludicrous to suggest that after weeks/months of dealing with that bull , presumably in the same fashion as he did for the first 3-4 punches, that they were going to stop anytime soon.

Some bullies hit other people because they know they won't hit back.

Also, trying to shoe-horn every bully into the same pattern of behavior or to say they're all looking for the same thing from their bullying is laughably ridiculous.
