Everyone here is so f*cking stupid to think that a team that had been declining in wins for 4 straight years that didn't add any significant pieces and got a year older, who only won 50 last year, would struggle to win 50 games.

RJ is not better. He started off great (first month) and has been just as ty as last year since. His amount of good games this year is about equal to last year, the only difference is his good games this year all came in one spurt instead of sporadically spaced out.
RJ has less PPG/REB/BLK/STL/AST in the same amount of minutes. Cue the "but, but, but he is in the right spots now!" argument. Well, if he was in the right spots and doing the right things, the numbers would improve. Sure he is shooting better, but that doesn't translate into anything on the court for him production wise.

Those stats you posted do not really clearly prove anything really that couldn't also be explained by the whole team's defense being inconsistent this year and a team focus on offense. Matt Bonner's stats paint a very different picture than what most people can see with their eyes.

. It is the only positive thing statistically he's done over last year. His aggressiveness has increased? That is why he has less FTA per game

Your beloved defensive rating has RJ up 2 points from last year and down 1 point from last year in defensive win shares . . . pretty meaningless considering the focus on offense this season and those stats are just as reflective of team defense as individual.
Who is a better defender RJ or Manu? RJ or Bonner? What do advanced stats show? Can you draw different conclusions with the eye test?

RJ is taking 1.6 less shots per game. He isn't hesitating when his man closes him out on the perimeter. He is driving and trying to get easy baskets or kicking it back out which results in more ball movement and open looks. The opposing team's defense can key in on that because, in the Spurs offense, he is limited to shooting a 3 or driving to the basket. Where he has improved in this area is that he is driving a lot more before kicking it out which draws in the defense, giving the perimeter shooters open looks. Last season, he gave the ball up on the perimeter and didn't look to drive.
I don't get why everything has to be about RJ when I didn't bring him up. It's becoming a fallback argument for you because you think you can get over on me with this tact. If we disagree, so be it. I've said it before.
