I haven't had a Shiner seasonal since that Smokehouse Ale they had a year or two ago. I don't mind smoky flavor but this was overdone mesquite.
Has anybody else tried that new Shiner Ruby Redbird?
Although I guess the joke's on me if I expected something good out of a grapefruit flavored beer.

I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I really like Shiner Black. Shiner Cheer was good as well.
Yeah I get sucked into all the Shiner specialty beers and very few of them really impress me. But I think this Ruby Redbird is just about the worst beer I've ever had in my life.
I like Black too. I also like their Czech Pilsner (101 i think?). Shiner 99 was really good too. But I can't emphasize enough how horrid this Ruby Redbird is. Just disgusting.
mmm that opa is great! although i like their stout better, then again all their brews are good.
go hit up their open house sometime, it's well worth it!
Real Ale's Devil's Backbone coming out probably this week or next, that's a great seasonal to pick up. Anyone tried St Arnold's DR11? Very citrusy but a nicely balanced DIPA.
I just picked up Maui Brewing Company Coconut Porter & a bottle of Brother Thelonious Belgian Style Abbey Ale.

Went to Flying Saucer yesterday and tried
Green Flash Double Stout
Simply beast! I ended up drinking this all night, all though the limit was 3... the waitress was new...
I also had their IPA and it was really good as well.... def. recommend
I've been thinking about trying some since I love shiner bock so much. Are any of them worth trying?
Around Christmas, the Cheer is pretty fantastic. Their Spring Ale isn't too bad right now either.
There is currently a stone/green flash/port brewing collab out right now called Highway 78. It's a very nice Scotch ale. Green flash also has an imperial ipa in bombers they sell in tx.
ahhh... Stone colabs are always intriguing... I'm actually having this double stout at the moment... it's just great.. I can't believe I overlooked it everytime I went to whole foods or central market
They had it a long time ago in a bottle at the SA Flying Saucer. It was ok... it just tastes like a less oaked version of oak AB. I'd rather just have an AB.
I think their 3 limit only applies to beers over a certain ABV... 7 or 8% IIRC.
Not sure if that's changed since that incident with the drunk driver killing that cop. I actually dated the waitress who served him believe it or not. We spent this last New Years in New York.
And this bad boy hit the shelves recently:

I believe you have to serve a beer over 8% in a half pint glass, but that may just be bars with common sense. Bigfoot is a hefty beer for sure.
last time I was there I had the Le Merle Saison... which stood at 7.9%. While the glass was in a half pint... the bottle was 750ml.
they have double bas at central market.. and dogfish head iba![]()
Some of this tonight.
So this week is San Antonio Beer Week...
http://sanantoniobeerweek.com/
every week in every city/town is beer week, imo
Got this the other night from Mr. G's (the place to go if u live in the Dallas suburbs)
damn good stuff sir
Had this over the weekend.
Delerium Tremens, since the bottle is difficult to read.
Pretty good stuff, although a little too much of a banana aftertaste.
I thought the flavor actually obscured the alcohol quite well. You can tell it had a kick, but the alcohol really didn't overpower the beer. If the banana was toned down a little I would definitely drink it more.
Had a couple bottles of this as well. Good stuff, although extremely sweet (obviously). I wouldn't be able to drink more than a couple bottles of it.
Where did you pick this up? Huge SN fan here and it looks delicious.
