Draft Countdown is rather low on Mallet...

    http://www.draftcountdown.com/Scouti...an-Mallett.php

Compare to Bledsoe, but more likely Derek Anderson. Ouch

All Mallett has to do is keep his head on straight and he'll be successful in the league. It will help that he can learn and grow under Brady's wing without having all the pressure on from the get-go

granted, it's a big if whether he can stay focused, but if he does I think he'll be the best QB in this draft.

He's basically the prototype, with the exception of some reported character issues and being a bit below average mobility-wise. Learned under one of the better offensive(pro-style) minds in college football in one of the toughest conferences. Tall, rocket Arm, quick release. Watched him a lot during college and was usually impressed.

One more possible negative is late game management. He was less than stellar a few times last year, but also won some tough, close games. Including on the road. The latter goes for the year before as well, when he had a laughable defense and still managed to pass Arky to wins.

Anyway, I would have taken him before any of the others so far, including Cam...

6'6, rocket arm (best in draft), actually took that handoff from center the pros like unlike Gabbert and Newton, produced at a high level in college (unlike Gabbert and Locker who put up Ken O'Brien type numbers last year), and played in a pro style offense. He can't run but neither could run Marino or a ton of other elite qbs. Dude will be a ing stud.

I scoff Mallett and have my doubts about how good he'll be, but Ponder and that Nevada scrub going before him.

my favorite pick so far is Randall Cobb to the packers. He'll be a fantastic all purpose type guy, can really do it all.

He beat Auburn on the road as a freshman when he had to step up and play QB (forget whether he was recruited to play QB or not) after the starter went down. Basically just running a wildcat.

Saw him in person last year and he was, offensively, easily the second best player on the field after Cam. Very dynamic, fast, elusive, good hands, and not a bad blocker. He certainly isn't afraid of contact. Can run the wildcat, return kicks, and play either RB or WR. I've seen him do all those things in one game. A great weapon for Aaron Rodgers

Kaepernick(?) has to be a project, which means another year of Smith. Doomed to mediocrity (at best) again...

Taylor Potts, QB from Texas Tech, is gonna be a sleeper in the 7th round

He has the pocket awareness of Brady, quick release of Marino, Manning's accuracy, and McNabb's arm.

Taiwan Jones is such a Raider pick. This is where you draft upside. Not on a 7th overall pick, like DHB.

Funny how we joke about Belichick making trades just for the sake of making a trade, and now they actually do just that. Eagles and Patriots swap picks 193 and 194 straight up. Nothing else involved.

Wonder if the Pats will look at DEs/OLBs in free agency... Any good names out there.

So who do you guys think has had the best draft so far?
Buffalo Bills. Their top 4 picks are all very good players and were very good value where they were selected.

And I know with a lot of Pats fans on this board, they're very critical and cynical. But I actually think the Patriots had a very good draft. But it's on the strength of what they did later in the draft. Getting Mallett alone in the third makes their draft look pretty good. But I think the Ras-I Dowling pick was solid. And the pick that really did it for me was getting Marcus Cannon in the fifth round. He was a guy I wanted the Lions to target in the third round. And I recall reading mocks and prospect ratings projecting him to go as high as the second round. Not all that thrilled about their first pick. But after that, I think the mad scientist had a very good draft.

    +10000000

any swinging could've played QB for the Ravens in 2000 and won the superbowl with that defense. He just happened to be the lucky one and now he thinks he's en led to talk about anyone

Now that the Draft and with it the NFL is out of the way for a while, it will be nice not to have to hear every bag saying "due diligence" every other sentence.
