They've had a touch screen ordering system at the Burger King in Terminal A at Atlanta Hartsfield for over two years now.
You can still order from a cashier if you want, but they have three touchscreen machines where you can order your food.
It's basically a digitized version of the overhead menu, and does have pics of the various meals. Then you can click on a button to change your toppings on your burger if you want.
Guessing McD's will go the same way.

self checkout should be somewhat like the express lane. It shouldn't be for re ed soccer moms with a cart full of food who need help scanning every 3rd item they have.
