Well the real excitement lays with the unconfirmed June 5th campers. There's a lot of visits that need to happen this summer.

I have more confidence when the recruit gives a general time frame on when he might attend. Geno Smith and Landon Collins are both expected sometime in July.

Nelson Agholor has gone from confirmed June 5th camper per Orangebloods, to who the knows. I hope Texas does some coordination here, if the OOS targets can all make it down around the same weekend, Texas would be wise to host them all at once.

Peat is all over the map, who knows. Hopefully, Peat jumps on a plane with Connor Brewer at the last moment and makes it down. I'm yet to read an encouraging quote from Peat or his father about Texas. The glowing Texas comments have come from Peat's head coach.

When it's open ended like DGB, one has to wonder if a visit will ever happen.

I'd like to see Colin Blake at the June 12th camp if he's back from vacation. It's somewhat plausible that Blake ends up at Texas eventually.

TFloss any news on John Theus' summer plans? It would be amazing if Theus made it June 5th. Is Vadal Alexander no longer a possibility for Texas?

Javonte Magee lives in San Antonio, 80 miles from Austin. If Magee can't scare up a ride on June 5th, move on Texas. I've always thought "transportation issues" or "car trouble" are the biggest excuses in the recruit's playbook. Something tells me Gary Green is pulling the strings on Magee.

There's been some talk (some of it from TFloss) that Starts ship will sail if he doesn't make it June 5th. Regardless, Starts will have fences to mend soon after. If Searels extended an offer to an in state OT, it might get Starts attention.

The confirmed camper list has some interesting names, especially the DEs. It'd be hard for Texas to miss with Torshiro Davis, Devall, Palmer and Hunter. All are great looking recruits. Torshiro has the best first step, but all are talented. Jamal Palmer's new film is just as good as Devall's in my opinion. Very similar players in my mind.

I hope June 5th is the day Estelle commits to Texas. Good news that Estelle is confirmed.

Justin Thomas is a young man I hope Texas find room for. Thomas has the most impressive film of any 2012 in state DB I have seen this year. Thomas makes excellent plays on the ball in the air, and when he picks one off watch out because he's taking it to the house or for a huge return. Playmaker.

I believe the skill is there to overcome Thomas' lack of size, but grade issues are too much to overcome. I hope Justin improved his transcript this spring.

You wonder why Tomme Mark and Padilla have invitations and Lago Vista DT Donald Hopkins doesn't hold an invitation? Alabama recently offered Hopkins, I'd say they know a thing or two about DTs.

Myers, Brantley, Armstead and Meador don't do too much for me. I think Texas will eventually have to take one to round out the OT position in the 2012 class. Coach Searels knows his craft, he'll have a good idea of the best Plan B option after the camps. I personally like Armstead the best. Raw but everything is there to play LT at the next level.

That being said I wouldn't take any reaches in the 2012 OT class as 2013 appears to be deeper and more talented. Great news on A'Shawn Robinson camping overnight. Robinson could very well be a top 10 player nationally when it's all said and done.

Many, many exciting names in the June 12th confirmed list. It seems like nearly every top Texas target will be in town.

Coach Akina did a number on Marcell Harris on the South Lake class. Great news that Harris and his father are attending June 12th. OOS recruit brings his father to a summer camp, good sign.

I'd like to see Swoopes and Kohl Stewart at the same camp so the Texas staff could evaluate them side to side. Swoopes could be the priority as both Stewarts parents are Aggies.

I'm a little surprised that Kent Perkins isn't confirmed for June 12th. Perkins allegedly loves Texas.

A little back story, I graduated from Langham Creek High School in Houston. I don't think Feist will receive a Texas offer, but it's cool to see a quarterback, or any player from Langham being evaluated by Texas. It almost never happens.

Thanks for the lists TFloss. As you said these things tend to fluctuate constantly, we won't really know much until June 5th and June 12th.

As expected, Texas made John Theus' top 6 per Inside Texas' Blake Monroe. Texas is in Theus' top 6, and in Peat's top 13. Just sayin'.

Some more updates on certain individuals...

*OL Kennedy Estelle has confirmed for June 5th even though he's left a little wiggle room for June 12th because of his busy track schedule. He's a smart guy; I don't see him skipping J5 and missing out on being around the current commitments (and future teammates). A lot of you will be pleased to know that QB Connor Brewer, RB Johnathan Gray and WR Cayleb Jones talk to him all of the time through Facebook and email so he's not hurting for attention from anyone in the UT program. Status quo with him as far as out-of-state trips as there's still nothing planned. Maybe he'll get that itch to commit this weekend. Be patient with this one as he's a guy that want to make a decision on his own terms.

*Another name who has confirmed for June 5th is DB Justin Thomas of West Orange-Stark. I've said from the beginning that I didn't think the UT staff would go hard after Thomas because of his lack of size, but it also turns that he has some transcript issues that he needs to address. In addition to that, there's guys like DB Geno Smith and ATH Nelson Agholor that the staff simply wants more than him. The recruitments of the aforementioned prospects could cost Texas a chance with Thomas or even a guy like ATH Kendall Sanders, but I like the gutsy approach as the previous staff would've conceded these recruits to other schools early on in the process. I liken Thomas' situation to that of DB Quandre Diggs last year; he's Texas good and would be a household name if he were two inches taller.

*2013 QB Tyrone Swoopes of Whitewright received a second visit from Darrell Wyatt last week. I don't see why UT would make two separate trips to see Swoopes during the spring if they didn't plan on going after him hard in next year's class. His athletic ability is in a different stratosphere than Bryan Harsin has ever had the privilege of working with, so it'd be interesting to see how he'd fit into his offensive scheme. If you're looking for a guy that could ease the transition to a new signal caller once QB Connor Brewer leaves Austin, the UT staff may want to take a hard look at QB Kohl Stewart of Houston St. Pius X as he possesses a very similar game. With that said, Swoopes is just too good to pass up and I hope he's the main target in 2013.

*Although he has an invite to camp in Austin for J5, DB Colin Blake of San Antonio Brandeis will not be in Austin due to family vacation plans. There are a lot of rumors out there that's he's favoring this school or that school, but Texas would be in a good position here should they extend an offer. Everyone that saw him work out this spring raves about his size and ability and Duane Akina is a big fan. Like Thomas, he's a potential victim of the numbers crunch.

*Thanks to BFLT for bringing up this name and I'll add a little more to it. Stacy Searels was in Greensboro, NC last week to evaluate a new name in OL/DL DJ Reader. One built-in advantage that Texas has in this recruitment is Reader has an aunt that lives about ten minutes from UT's campus and he's been to Austin numerous times. He's always been enamored with UT and currently has the Longhorns atop his list of favorites despite not yet receiving an offer and having serious interest (and other offers) from SEC schools. Reader's coach claims that he can be had by Texas should they decide to go after him. A decision on an offer wil likely be made by the staff in the next few weeks. FYI...I've also seen him listed at 6'4"/315, so there's a debate on big he actually is. Searels also had the opportunity to stop in Charlotte, NC to check on OL DJ Humphries. This one isn't happening; he's SEC bound and has been for some time. Florida, LSU and Tennessee are some of his favorites.

*You'll notice on the attendance list that yet another name has surfaced for the OL. Braden Meador of Montgomery will be in attendance this weekend after receiving an invite to J5 from Stacy Searels. Now, I'm not mentioning his name because I think he'll be a part of the 2012 class eventually; I can say with confidence that he probably won't be. What's interesting about him is what Searels told his coach while in Montgomery. Turns out the coaching staff plans on offering at least one more OL for this class. That's more than likely a good indication of where things are with OL Michael Starts as the original plan was to offer eight OL and take the first four to commit. If the staff begins feeling bad about their chances with OL Andrus Peat as well, we could see a second additional offer go out. This weekend will be a great opportunity for OL Greg Brantley of Carthage and OL Seaver Myers of Friendswood to show what their made of as one of their numbers will likely be called somewhere down the line.

I've heard that Estelle doesn't respond well to high pressure tactics. Brewer, Gray and Jones befriending Estelle is the right approach. Agreed, patience is the word on Estelle.

Agreed on the staff's approach of swinging for the fences on the OOS DB recruits. In the past, the DB class would already be full and there wouldn't be room for a Smith, Agholor, Collins, Blake or Thomas.

I think one can make an argument that Blake fits the Texas secondary better than Landon Collins. The 'Cosm's Tipsy Gypsie believes Akina is transitioning the Texas defensive backfield back to the 4 cornerbacks approach. Collins is a playmaker, but he's more Evil Roy Williams than the Earl Thomas safety / corner / nickel back hybrid.

While Blake is already excelling at corner at the high school level. Blake has man coverage skills.

Don't get me wrong, I love Landon Collins, but there's some speculation that he's an eight in the box type safety / OLB.

Agreed, Swoopes is likely the priority at quarterback for 2013. Stewart is damn good, but the MLB draft and the Aggie parents are obstacles.

If things are going sour with Michael Starts and Texas, and it would seem that they are, offer DJ Reader.

Myers and Brantley can and should be slow played. Armstead is maybe a take at the June camps if he shows up, impresses and is soft to Baylor. Agreed, Myers or Brantley likely end up at Texas at some point.

Coach Searels knows his craft. He'll make the right calls on the 2012 OT class. I hope Texas holds off on an additional OL offer until Reader has a chance to visit.

    BFLT-

1.) I haven't read anything solid on OL John Theus other than what you wrote. I did see an article that mentioned he could possibly commit before his senior season should the vibe be right with a certain school such as Georgia or Florida, but the consensus seems to be he'll take all five of his official visits and Texas will likely be one of those mainly due to the Stacy Searels' connection.

2.) DT Javonte Magee is just waiting on that LSU offer. He recently stated that he, OL Ralphael Green and S Leo Thomas are a "package deal," but I'll believe that when I see it if the home state team comes calling. He reminds me a lot of RB Aaron Green last year in that he just doesn't have a genuine yearning to be at UT. We could see the staff go after him hard should a guy like DT Taylor Bible fall victim to attrition, but I'm not counting on him being a part of this class.

3.) OL Kent Perkins is a huge UT fan, so no worries there. He currently plans on attending Baylor and Oklahoma State summer camps on his high school campus this summer but he's not sure about other plans. No reason was given as to why in his last interview.

Good stuff TFloss. I'm not keen on universities holding camps at high school campuses. It's good for the universities, but not ideal for the kids. What if 2013 recruit commits at Tech's camp in scenic Rockwall without ever visiting the campus in Lubbock? It's a little disingenuous to me.

The bigger concern I have with the "remote camps" is what if Oregon or Alabama starts holding camps in Houston or DFW? That scenario could cause some problems for Texas.

I hope Texas' plan from Day 1 was to hold one ship for Theus or Peat until after the official visit period. Theus' possible intention of making all 5 of his official visits could be good news for Texas. Theus has gone from Georgia lock to taking his time. There's time for Texas and Coach Searels to get seriously in the mix for Theus.

Magee is a Louisiana native correct? Waiting on a LSU offer isn't surprising. One has to wonder why LSU offered Jerald Hawkins and not Javonte Magee. Same type of player, but Magee is much more talented.

Auburn probably has a better chance at him than they do with any of the guys Bill mentioned in regards to mutual recruiting targets. Auburn picked up a commitment from Joshua Holsey, who is a friend of Geno's. You can bet he'll be leaning on him early and often to commit to AU

Geno also attended Big Cat weekend, which has proven to be a great success for Auburn recruiting

As for Andrus Peat, we all probably need to wait and see who will emerge as leaders out of this 13 schools he's whittled his list down to

With his pedigree, I'm sure he'll be very thorough in checking out every ins ution he's interested in. I would guess we won't know with him until close/on national signing day, or at least until the big post-season camps

I won't touch Big Cat weekend, but I will say that The Bad Girls Club are big fans. I figured Holsey and Geno Smith are friends and the AJC article confirms it.

    C'mon dude

Don't get so caught up in the world of message boards and talk radio... And shoddy blogs such as SBB.

What, pray tell, has come of that particular allegation/situation?

    Yeah, nothing.

What SBB doesn't mention is that the event was associated with Tuskegee University students, not Auburn or Auburn students. Tuskegee U is right down the road and a lot of their students party or rent out clubs in Auburn because, well, Tuskegee is a hole (not the campus, though)

Good to know you're a purveyor of TMZ type flamethrower journalism

I was making a joke symple. This isn't the forum for Auburn accusations.

*One important thing that I forgot to mention this morning is things are officially on with five-star DE Noah Spence of Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately the spring evaluation period ends today, so the UT staff won't have the opportunity to make a visit to Spence's high school. However, Oscar Giles called Spence's coach last week to inform him that UT was interested and Spence's father promptly returned Giles' call. Mr. Spence used the words "surprised", "honored" and "thrilled" at the fact UT was interested because he's been following recruiting for a couple of years now and knows that Texas doesn't usually venture outside of state borders (especially to call on a recruit in Pennsylvania). He also mentioned the great tradition of UT sending defensive lineman to the NFL. Noah also had the chance to call Giles last week and he was told that the staff would like to get him down to Austin for a face-to-face with Mack Brown. That's the plan as of right now, but nothing has been solidified. The trip would have to occur some time this summer or on an official visit in the fall. I'm telling you right now this is a guy that can be had if Texas puts in the work. His father is a no nonsense, parole officer that wants the best for his son. I can't imagine that he'd let him go to Ohio State or even Penn State where there's so much uncertainty at the top. Spence plans on announcing his decision at the 2012 US Army All-American Game and hopefully Texas will have a hat on the table.

*I also wanted to elaborate on 2013 QB Tyrone Swoopes. He's rumored to be a big fan of TCU right now as he already has an offer from the Horned Frogs, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. However, he grew up a fan of UT and Vince Young so I don't see him choosing a Big East school once the heavy hitters come calling. Color me surprised if he chooses to freeze his ass off while playing against teams like Pitt and UConn over natonal exposure in games like the Red River Shootout. Texas doesn't lose big-time recruits to TCU if they want them badly enough, so I don't expect that trend to change with Swoopes if Texas pursues him like they did RB Johnathan Gray.

Good news on Noah Spence. Texas sort of dropped the ball by failing to visit Spence at his high school during the spring evaluation period. It's a lot to ask of the Spences to fly down to Austin on their own dime when Texas has an ample recruiting budget didn't make it up to Harrisburg. A summer visit is a must for Spence. I hope Bo and Oscar stay on Spence and set up a visit.

Spence makes things very interesting for the possibly last DE spot. If Torshiro Davis is ready to jump ship on June 5th, Texas obviously can't turn him down. Spence would have to be a luxury pick up in the DGB mold. If Spence wants to come to Texas, you make a spot. Texas has done will with no nonsense fathers as evidenced by Malcolm Brown's recruitment. Brown's father is a veteran.

Texas should play up the Vince Young angle with Swoopes. I don't think Swoopes is the next VY, but Tyrone might think he is. Agreed, if Texas makes Swoopes a priority, we should get him. I'm glad to hear that TCU and not OU is the favorite right now.

    Bill-

Should Texas offer a guy like Jamal Palmer or Danielle Hunter in the future (or even this weekend), I don't think that has any bearing on what's going on with Davis or Spence. I think both of those guys are recruited until the end and viewed as cherries to put on top of this class.
