That's true, but the problem is whether they're eligible or not is often not know until after the fact and after they've scored all those tds on Saturday.

About what I expected. I think now that DGB has visited Texas, Wyatt will aggressively pursue him until Signing Day. Seeing as Wyatt has only DGB, Daniel Brooks and the 2013 targets to work on this summer, he'll have plenty of time to work on DGB.

*Not much to report from the weekend as things have been very slow and everyone has been focused on WR Dorial Green-Beckham. He and his family arrived in Austin on Friday evening and left yesterday morning. The trip apparently went about as well as it could have and the staff covered nearly everything that they would on an official visit. I imagine the staff will do their best to get him back on campus in the fall. For those of you surprised with the lack of news on this one, don't be. The Beckhams are known to be a low-key family and don't do a lot of interviews. Just know that UT gave him a lot to think about and they played the "family atmosphere" card as much as possible.
*Back to the DB discussion...per OrangeBloods, a conversation with the father of ATH Daniel Brooks of Rockdale revealed that the staff has only spoken to him about playing offense and being an all-purpose type. A lot of us were wondering last week if an offer to DB Colin Blake of San Antonio Brandeis meant that the staff was already moving away from Brooks. If this bit of information is true, it looks like Brooks is not in the DB discussion at all (even though he could end up there in time) and has nothing to do with Blake; the staff could end up taking both players. I think Blake is a Longhorn when/if he's offered and hopefully we see movement on that front soon.
*There's another attrition rumor out there that a certain defensive player could be close to transferring. A name hasn't been given but supposedly he's done his best to irritate the staff by missing classes and practices. The coaches have made him aware of the consequences should he continue to make those bad decisions. Any guesses as to who it could be?! TE Dominique Jones is another guy to keep an eye on when it comes to potential transfers.
For those wondering about OL Andrus Peat, he did make it to Michigan this weekend and he'll be at Notre Dame today. A recent write-up on him has him making to trips to Texas and Auburn in July. Auburn may be a bit of a sleeper in this recruitment because Peat's father played with Auburn OL coach, Jeff Grimes, in the NFL and he's one of a recruiter (see Westerman, Christian).
Good stuff Floss. The family atmosphere card was the appropriate one to play DGB. Wherever Dorial goes, the Beckhams will have to trust the coaches to take care of their son. Coach Wyatt and Coach Beckham have been friends for a long time. Just sayin.' I'm certain that Sally Brown was heavily involved in creating the family atmosphere. I'm glad Texas gave DGB something to think about. It sounds like Texas is a real player now with Missouri, Arkansas, OU and Bama. That's about all we could have asked for after this weekend.
Texas has done well with recruits that play it close to the vest like Jackson Jeffcoat and Johnathan Gray.
The Daniel Brooks offer remains confusing to me. The staff wants Brooks to possibly replace DJ Monroe when DJ hasn't contributed much of anything. Yes, that's not exactly DJ's fault, but it seems strange to offer Brooks in such a tight year. Especially when Dontre Wilson is more talented and versatile. Does Texas intend to take Brooks and Wilson? That's a bit redundant.
Why is Texas even issuing a final warning to this irritating player? Scholarships are so tight right now, that behavior shouldn't be tolerated. Unless said player is in the 2 deep, the staff should send him on his merry way. There's noise that it's a defensive player. The 247 posters think it's Christian Scott, but my guess is Bible. There's too much attrition smoke around Bible for there not to be a fire. Missing classes and practices sounds like a lazy player to me, Bible has certainly been lazy as since signing with Texas.
Good news on Peat visiting Texas soon, but this will be what his 25th unofficial visit? Well probably not that many unofficials, but Andrus Peat is either being extremely thorough or enjoys the out of the recruiting process. The latter would be a concern because it would put Coach Searels in a tough spot. Hopefully, Stacy knows something we don't. He did pass on Armstead to pursue Theus and Peat, so he's confident for some reason.
Texas is going to have make a huge impression on Peat's visit to distinguish themselves. I trust Coach Searels, but I have a gut feeling that Texas is just one of Peat's 13 that he is considering. If Texas stood out to Peat, I think he would have visited the 40 Acres sooner or at least mentioned Texas more often in interviews. Good luck to the staff, Peat is going to be a long chase.
Jeff Grimes continues to be a thorn in Texas' side. Get ready for Coach Searels and Coach Grimes to go head to head on many blue chip OLs in the future. Both Auburn and Texas will be looking to get footholds in Arizona.
I tend to agree on RB Dontre Wilson. I'd almost rather see Brooks' scholly go to DB Justin Thomas. He'll commit on the spot when/if he's offered.
I was being a bit facetious with my question. I'm also under the impression that it's DT Taylor Bible. He's been struggling in the classroom and doesn't seem to have that desire to cut his bad habits and be a better all-around student athlete. I'm with you, Bill. Trim the fat.
I think Searels feels he's in a good spot with Armstead should things not work out with Peat and Theus. It'll just be interesting to see how long the staff waits since both guys will likely drag their recruitments to January.

Floss has Justin Thomas improved his transcript? I think that's the primary concern holding him back. I'd like to see Brooks remain committed to OU, and Texas use his spot a DB or an OT. Why couldn't Brooks' offer go to a player like Kyle Fuller? Dontre Wilson is a much better player than Brooks, and Texas can get him in 2013.
I hope the irritating player is Bible. Bible has gotten plenty of chances. If he's not working his ass off this summer. It's time for him to eat himself out of a scholarship elsewhere.
I'd hate to lose a senior DB in Christian Scott. I'd like to see what Christian can do in Diaz's system.
Finally Texas slow plays an in state recruit in Armstead. He's committed to Baylor, he's not going anywhere. That being said I don't like our chances with Peat or Theus. Peat is frankly all over the place, and Theus will be a tough pull from Florida or Georgia. Coach Searels getting either would be a small miracle in my opinion.

I honestly don't know anything about that. The only thing I've seen on Thomas recently is a rumor about Major Applewhite telling him that last DB spot would be evaluated into the upcoming season. I hope they lock up DB Colin Blake in the next few weeks and then eventually decide to offer Thomas if another recruitment doesn't go well.
