ur a fight expert right...in case you dont know it...DLH was expect to come in on fight night in the high 150's....shockingly he didnt. You also know that even though 147 maybe the "limit" most fighters come in way higher then that on fight night...so even at 147, pacquaio is usually the smaller fighter.

Speaking of "comprehend", yes, i said TEST his abilities. Pac moved up and fought a bigger opponent. He OBVIOUSLY past his test and moved up to try DLH...he obviously found out he can hang in Welterweight and moved on to fight the top dogs (cotto, clottey etc.)

You really expect him to jump weight classes to fight the top dogs without seeing if he can hang with the ones with lesser talents. Once again..GET REAL BRO. Stop looking back at all his fights AS A WHOLE and try to change how history looked at it at THAT time.

Why does it matter what weight he was expected to come in as? The fact is he didn't. He was a weight drained zombie I'm just going to stop now since pac s can't handle criticism of their hero.
This has been beaten to death go post on pacland so you can circle jerk with other pac s

    http://www.mannypacquiao.ph/

BTW Are you watching the fights tonight? Probably not since Pacquiao isn't fighting.

Boxing hasn't gone to man. Are you sure you're a fan? I mean unless you're a casual and only watch Pacquiao fight or Mayweather fight how the can you say it's gone to ?
Compared to what it usta be it seriously has. Basketball will always be my first love. It's done a lot for my life. Second is boxing. It keeps me in shape and I love the fight game. I grew up in the era of the 70s and 80s when you knew who was the champion in a weight class instead of this alphabet soup we have going on today. I saw the best fighters fight one another more than once instead of this crap we have going on today. Compared to that era, it's gone to . We had a few good fights last year, in the 70s and 80s, we would have had at least ten to twelve bouts battling for fight of the year. We'll never see that again. Duran and Leonard fighting twice in six months. The Four Aces: Hearns, Leonard, Hagler and Duran all fighting one another more than once.

The best jab in boxing Larry Holmes being lost because he was sandwiched between the retirement of Ali and a rising KO king in Tyson. A true champion, Ali, fighting Frazier and Norton thrice, Foreman, Liston twice and probably the hardest hitter in the heavyweight division back then, Ernie Shavers.

Yeah boxing have some up-and-comers but as for right now, it will never get back to what it once was. And if it does, it's gonna take a whole lot of cleaning to do so. Who in the fight game right now can shut done the country like Ali, Tyson and Leonard right now? Maybe Manny. Maybe Floyd because people wanna see him lose. Not many.

Like you said 135 and down there are a ton of great fighters some of these cats will start moving up and have an impact in the higher weight classes
Take 140. There's no reason why Maidana, Alexander, Bradley and Khan haven't fought multiple times by now. Khan has fought Maidana (great fight). Alexander and Bradley mixed it up in what was a pretty boring bout. It usta be about being the best in the class and being a champion, now that the belts have come into play, it's about sanctioning fees, promoters and paydays. They need to go back to the original eight divisions and that will eliminate all this bull .

    Cool life story, bro.
I can pull a quote from each decade saying boxing is dead, You can say it's not as popular as it was but don't give me that it's gone to . It's less popular in the States but boxing is growing and thriving in Europe right now. This year alone we've had 7 fight of the year canidates and it's still only June. Hopkins/Pascal 2, Maidana/Morales, Oritz/Berto, Arce/Vazquez jr, Juanma/Salido, Rios/Acosta, and Hernan Marquez/Luis Concepcion. And saying boxing is compared to the 80's is the same as saying Basketball is compared to how it was in the 80's. Has basketball gone to as well? 2000-2010 wasn't a good era in boxing? Gatti Ward triliogy, De la hoy, Mosley, Trinidad all in their prime. Barerra/Morales trilogy, Israel Vasques, Rafa Marquez quadriliogy . Castillo/Corrales, Hopkins, Floyd, Manny i can go on and on, im sure im missing a lot of other fighters. We can go back another decade and find great fighters as well. Chavez, Roy Jones Jr in his prime, etc.. etc. And what country are we talking about being shut down because tyson never shut down the country. . Pacquaio can shut down the Philipines, and basically any mexican fighter will shut down Mexico. And like i told you in my last post i agree about all the abc belts and the Heavyweight division being terrible.

Take 140. There's no reason why Maidana, Alexander, Bradley and Khan haven't fought multiple times by now. Khan has fought Maidana (great fight). I agree Greedy promoters def. hurt the sport. Especially when the 2 main ones are beefing *cough* Arum/Golden Boy

And to be fair Bradley and Khan was going down until Bradley ed out cuz he was waiting for "pacquiao"

Its obvious that IronMaxipad is one of those Floyd fans who feel like they lose credibility if they admit they are Floyd fans so they claim them selves as "non biased" fight fans who isnt a fan of both guys. Obvious is Obvious.

Unless people are planning to move to Europe and live there, it's pretty irrelevant. Where do we live?

Not a fight of the year candidate .... story of the year probably. Was a pretty boring fight. Arce/Vazquez was beautiful to watch and any fight with the Terminator Maidana in it is usually lovely. The rest were pretty good.

And saying boxing is compared to the 80's is the same as saying Basketball is compared to how it was in the 80's. Has basketball gone to as well? 2000-2010 wasn't a good era in boxing?
twenty years later, basketball has a serious buzz to it especially with the Lakers and C's doing well and everyone hating the Heat. You have to really look at see where boxing has its buzz. Even people who didn't care about boxing had to stop and watch a Tyson fight. We don't have that anymore. And if it doesn't change, MMA will quickly take it's place which is sad.

Gatti Ward triliogy, De la hoy, Mosley, Trinidad all in their prime. Barerra/Morales trilogy, Israel Vasques, Rafa Marquez quadriliogy . Castillo/Corrales, Hopkins, Floyd, Manny
most of these are ten years removed and we can't get anything like this today on a regular basis. Blame Arum and GBP. It's sad that you can't say Don King is the crook of boxing anymore.

And what country are we talking about being shut down because tyson never shut down the country.
when ever Tyson got in the ring, there was a buzz around this country. We knew someone was gonna get ed up and it wasn't gonna be pretty especially during the Rooney era. Sure Manny can shut down the Philippines and Mexico has a serious hotbed especially with Junior Chavez and Saul Alvarez doing damage, but when was the last time the U.S. got a hard from an American Prospect? And the one we do have seems like he don't wanna fight unless he's catered to (Floyd).

And to be fair Bradley and Khan was going down until Bradley ed out cuz he was waiting for "pacquiao"
Like I said .... not about who's the best. About that payday. Manny's the cash cow along with Floyd.

I used to love boxing and still follow the big ones but there are almost no big ones anymore. I went to MMA because UFC puts on the best fights people wanna see year in and year out.. I didn't go in a huge MMA fan but when they kept giving me more and more big fights i fell in love with the sport.. Floyd being allowed to duck Manny for this damn long is exactly what's wrong with the sport.. It's sickening..

    Great response
Just because Americans aren't dominating don't mean boxing is , unless your a fanboy for US born fighters or some . A real boxing fan can appreciate a fighter regardless of where they are from.

Not a fight of the year candidate .... story of the year probably. Was a pretty boring fight. Arce/Vazquez was beautiful to watch and any fight with the Terminator Maidana in it is usually lovely. The rest were pretty good.
Ok? that's still 6 FOTY canidates in 6 months.. I thought boxing doesn't have any foty anymore

Edit: looking back son i overlooked some other foty canidates: Yordan vs Chris john, Kennedy vs diaz, Herrera vs Provodnikov
There's 3 more son! thats 9 foty canidates and 6 months left of boxing!

AND that's not counting KO wins and big upsets that have all taken place in 2011! Montiel getting KTFO by Donaire for example

It truly has gone to !

twenty years later, basketball has a serious buzz to it especially with the Lakers and C's doing well and everyone hating the Heat. .
Until the NBA has another TRUE CHAMPION like Bill Russell it will never be the same!

most of these are ten years removed and we can't get anything like this today on a regular basis. Blame Arum and GBP. It's sad that you can't say Don King is the crook of boxing anymore.
10 years removed wat? soo all these fights happened in 2000? please dude you're reaching. Not to mention i left out a lot of other fights.

You have to really look at see where boxing has its buzz. Even people who didn't care about boxing had to stop and watch a Tyson fight. We don't have that anymore. And if it doesn't change, MMA will quickly take it's place which is sad

Manny and floyd dont do the same today? People don't stop to watch them? What about Oscar before them? How many ing casuals come in with their stupid opinions when either of these 2 fight? And isn't Floyd vs Oscar the highest Grossing fight of ALL TIME?

Like I said .... not about who's the best. About that payday. Manny's the cash cow along with Floyd.
Yeah Manny and Floyd are the Cash Cows but they're not the best?
The Super 6 tourney wasn't about who is the best?
The Bantum Weight tourney wasn't to determine who was the best?
Of course there are fighters that only care about the payday but can't that be said for any sport?

Tbh i'm suprised i'm having this convo with a "boxing" fan Usually it's them MMA stans that only watch Pac fight and if it sucks omg boxing is dead. Yet they don't watch any of the good not named Pac or Floyd.

And here's something that may shock some of you. Neither Floyd or Pacquiao have ever won Ring Magazine Fight of the year! never.

    2000 - Erik Morales W 12 Marco Antonio Barrera I
    2001 - Micky Ward W 10 Emanuel Augustus
    2002 - Micky Ward W 10 Arturo Gatti I
    2003 - Arturo Gatti W 10 Micky Ward III
2004 - Marco Antonio Barrera W 12 Erik Morales III
2005 - Diego Corrales TKO 10 José Luis Castillo I
2006 - Somsak Sithchatchawal KO 10 Mahyar Monshipour
2007 - Israel Vázquez KO 6 Rafael Márquez II
    2008 - Israel Vázquez W 12 Rafael Márquez III
2009 - Juan Manuel Marquez KO 9 Juan Diaz
2010 - Giovanni Segura KO 8 Ivan Calderon

Would you look at that. Maybe there are great fights that don't involve Pac or Mayweather.

Well that went completely over your head didn't it dumbass?

    That wasn't the point

Casuals only watch boxing when either Pac or Floyd fight and if the fight sucks then they about it saying boxing sucks.
Recent example Pac vs Mosley. But them s don't watch any other of the countless great fights that happen year round. Just look at the 9-10 foty canidates that have happened this year alone. How many of you have seen any of these fights? Don't come ing talking about there's no good fights anymore. And then they try taking shots at boxing and . off you aren't a boxing fan to begin with.

Edit: tbh why am i even summarizing this since it clearly states that in the post before.

The sport is far from perfect. I just want it to be what it once was......... I have four champions in every division. Even boxing knows that's ed up. Yeah, the casual fan is away and the hardcore will always remain as long as there's a Nito Donaire or a Saul Alvarez coming up. Too bad all the great American athletes are going to football and basketball.

Every sport has flaws bruh. And like i said before i agreed with you about all the belts and divisions. But tbh, If you're still really hung up on that just look at the ring rankings and you'll know who the best in the division is. At this point the belts are just used as promotional tools anyway. And yes it a shame that there isn't more American fighters but again that doesn't really affect me. A great fighter is a great fighter regardless of their nationality.
Guess we're going to have to agree to disagree on boxing being " ." Even with it's flaws it's still far from being and they are making more money now then ever before. I couldn't care less what some MMA fans or casuals say tbh, the fights are there. I dare someone to watch at least 6 of those 9 foty candidates that i posted and tell me boxing is .

The fact that you gots are so hung up on one fight just proves that you aren't boxing fans. I never said anything about not ducking all i said is that it is as much a fault of the fighters as it is their promoters. Fact is Pac ed up the fight up the first time, and floyd ed up the negotiations the second time.

Pac is fighting JMM at Welterweight, (we've already seen what JMM looks like at ww, he's slow as .) and not a single one of you gots complained about that fight, not one. I make a thread about Floyd vs Ortiz and with in seconds the s come flying in with their bull . Stop being hypocrites. That is the only reason i even brought up Pac fighting 40 year olds to show you gots how much of a hypocrite you truly are.

    Here's the thread: http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179992

    Not a single reply?

    Second page:
^ This is why you can't have discussion with pac s. I never said floyd didn't duck fighters from the ing beginning of this thread i said both of them Manny included are cherry pickers.
    are you guys even reading?
