You're right Floss. I got my Shreveport high schools crossed up. I remember reading during Rasco's recruitment that Evangel Christian had a stud 2013 OT. Josh Thomas is the only 2013 OOS OL that I've seen mentioned as a possible Texas target.
Yeah, I think he will be. Just not sure which one if you plan on bringing in James, Perkins, Robinson and Raulerson to the first Junior Day.
The prospect from Shreveport Woodlawn I think you're referencing is DT Christopher Robinson who showed pretty well at J12. There an OT named Josh Thomas from Shreveport Evangel Christian that the staff will be looking at as well.

Burrowed from the Shag:
Gerry just posted another update. In it, he says that he is continuing to hear how impressive Texas was for DGB and his family. He stated that it has as much to do with the support staff and "wow" factor of Texas as it does anything on the field. He still believes that we are behind Mizzou and OU, but definitely in the running and not just another listed school.
Later on in the post he responded to another poster's question with:
For now, knowing Texas made up ground and is in the game, as of last night, is what the best news is.
Great news...
I’d add that Texas is on an OOS recruit visit roll. Let it ride when Andrus Peat visits in July.
It’s one thing for a recruit to go into media mode and say some positive things to homer recruiting sites right after the visit. It’s quite another thing to continue to gush about the visit in private, days afterward as in the case of Harris, Agholor and now DGB. Whatever the new regime is doing during this high profile unofficial visits, it’s working. I can’t wait to see what the staff can do with the official visits.
Here's a status update on ATH Kendall Sanders after his Facebook post that go so much attention. Tips from Recruitocosm had the opportunity to speak with him yesterday.

An update on some of the 2013 defensive targets:

Floss do you see anything coming from this Sanders' Facebook post? Will this be the catalyst that gets Sanders a Texas offer? Honestly, I'm kind of over Kendall Sanders' recruitment. Sanders is a fan favorite, but I think Colin Blake is close enough that Texas could go with Blake over Sanders and not look back.
I wonder if Sanders making the issue such a public display is a turnoff for Texas' staff. Either this is an innocent post meant to get his true friends and Facebook stalkers off his back or this was his way of trying to get Texas' interest.
Whatever gets him to drop Okie Lite is fine with me.
Possible DB clarity from Bobby Burton:

Who is higher on the UT board - Geno Smith or Landon Collins?
Any chance the staff is slow playing Collins, b/c they are confident in landing Smith and/or Agholor?
Agholor has been told he can play either offense or defense (or both), so I assume the staff will hold a spot for him as long as necessary.
Looks like Colin Blake is the back up plan to Smith and/or Collins.
Is Kendall Sanders, despite his commitment to Okie State, still in play?
* Smith vs Collins isn't a true question. Smith is a corner, Collins a safety. Texas may take a corner and a safety in this class, so they are not ranked against one another on "the board".
* No chance. They are not slow-playing Collins. Agholor has paid his own way to campus and even though Collins is a five-hour drive away, he hasn't made it in yet. Smith is a long, long shot for Texas, period.
* They wouldn't necessarily hold a spot "as long as necessary". They may hold it for a long time, but at some point if they decide they also want a couple of other guys, then it may go that route.
* Not necessarily on Blake. Not sure he's the first one in play.
* Sanders and Texas are in play but only remotely. Sanders wanted to play receiver and that offer has gone out to Daniel Brooks and they're waiting on DGB, too. At defensive back, I think if he really communicated with the coaches that he would play corner, I think he'd probably get an offer. But he and the coaches have to get on the same page on that and there's no guarantee of that happening, or even that it should happen if he truly prefers offense.
My thoughts on Kendall Sanders and Texas, DB recruiting:
I honestly think Sanders to Texas is on life support. I know Sanders is a fan favorite, especially on the ‘Cosm, but it’s very plausible that Texas has moved on. This happens almost every year, it’s a reality of the 85 Scholarships Era.
Texas is still in contact with Blake. Akina called him last week and told him an offer might be coming soon. There’s some noise that Blake’s offer has been sent to Mack for approval.
I stress that this is a fluid situation, where the staff changes their mind often. The lack of attrition has thrown a monkey wrench into the staff’s 2012 plan. The coaches have told recruits that they might evaluate DBs going into the season. This tells me two things. 1) Texas is waiting for attrition that will almost certainly come when the depth chart is set by the Rice game. 2) They are waiting out Agholor, and the other OOS prospects. Burton said that Geno Smith is a long, long shot shot for Texas period. If Burton knows that the coaches definitely know that. Geno Smith might be off the board, but the other OOS targets are still in play.
If there’s one universal truth in Texas’ 2012 recruiting, it’s Texas needs one more DB and he needs to be tall. Colin Blake is both, and Akina is consistently communicating with him. Y’all take your assumptions from there.
BREAKING NEWS: Perry was spotted sporting a UT Trapper Keeper in class today!
Mack might want to swoop in and get this kid to sign an early commit letter...

Landon Collins notes from the Twitter:

Earlier in the summer, Collins talked about possibly visiting Austin, but does not have a trip planned at this point.

#Horns may be backing off of LA prospect Landon Collins, who says he isn't being recruited very hard by Texas right now.

Floss do you think Texas will give Plano Prestonwood OL/DE Christian Morgan a serious look next year? I know Darius James, A'Shawn Robinson, Jake Raulerson, Kent Perkins and Ja'Braylin Thomas are the top 5 are at OL right now, but Morgan has excellent film on both sides of the ball. I think at the very least Morgan could help Texas at DE. Morgan has numerous Longhorns in the family and has been quoted as saying that he would commit to Texas if offered. Morgan is listed 6'4'' 244 per Rivals.
Film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrQ-at_l_B0
Granted, it's against private school compe ion, but Morgan is dominant in that film.
Full disclosure, I have some ties to Prestonwood Baptist Church.

The blessed Andrus Peat news if finally here:
JB_UTSN Jordan Bishop
Andrus Peat news: Peat is setting up his visit to Texas July 21st-23rd. Still looking to visit Auburn and Nebraska after Texas #HookEmHorns
Two to three day visit and hopefully Brewer accompanies him. Can't beat that.
I've seen his name mentioned here and there as a TE prospect, but that's about it. Probably a bit early to know on Morgan.
@ Isitjustme?
It's definitely just you trying to derail a good thread. You've made your point that you think this is all ridiculous. Please take it elsewhere as your efforts are uncalled for. Thanks.
DT Quincy Russell is a guy that has not yet made it to campus for summer school. He didn't finish high school until the second week of June and is currently having some NCAA Clearinghouse issues. It may take a few more weeks for him to be approved, but there aren't supposed to be any lingering problems with his transcript.
Interesting Monday morning update...according to TigerBait (the LSU Rivals affiliate), 2013 OT Josh Thomas of Shreveport Evangel Christian has already received a scholarship offer from Mack Brown and Stacy Searels. I don't know how his trip to Austin managed to get by all of the local reporters and pay sites, but he apparently attended J5 or J12 recently and met with the coaches at the conclusion of the camp. Now, usually when a kid claims he has a Texas offer and we know he hasn't been on campus, it's easy to dismiss this kind of report. However, the difference in this situation is Thomas mentioning that he had a face-to-face meeting with the UT staff and was offered on the spot. This one is worth keeping an eye on as Thomas will be recruited nationally. He's headed to Baton Rouge soon for an LSU summer camp where he is expected to pick up an offer from the Tigers.

I think Brewer himself confirmed that he is coming. Should be a huge visit.
I don't see how Brewer doesn't make the trip with Peat unless he absolutely can't. He's been trying to get the kid on campus for five months now. Looks like Quandre Diggs, Miles Onyegbule and Cayleb Jones have also joined this recruiting effort.
I like to dabble a bit in recruiting news myself....
but these gentlemen are certainly masters of their craft.
I wonder if Morgan gets a look at DE. DE seems like the position Morgan is most likely to be offered at by Texas. DE or TE, Morgan will be an interesting player to watch. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the young man.
Very interesting Quincy Russell note. I hope you're right Floss, that the Clearinghouse straightens this out in a few weeks. Texas hasn't had the best history with the NCAA Clearinghouse. I didn't expect Russell to play this season, but I would like him in school and working out. Hopefully, Russell is able to enroll in the fall and have a productive redshirt season.
