but the ball still goes through the hoop about 50+ times a game.

Get rid of the goalie, shrink the size of the goal and the field, maybe raise the goal up ten feet in the air and then maybe soccer has something worth watching, imo.
    Fail

A 0-0 EPL game can be entertaining

A 65-64 hoops game can be painful to watch

But since you seem to be about numbers, then I guess Marathon >>>>>>> basketball

It's been slow as . Blake doesn't have a religion thread to on so he's just trolling for the of it.

BTW, I find it funny how you say soccer is boring when people used to about the slow, methodical pace the Spurs used to run the last ten years yet here we are, you're a Spurs fan. I bet you found the Spurs entertaining yet other people found them boring and in the end, who gives a .

crofl I still have yet to see someone explain why soccer will one day overtake one of the big three in America.

crofl I think it's rather re ed you want to discuss me instead of soccer in a soccer thread.
crofl i'm not arguing it will overtake the big three one day, it's you that's trying to argue that soccer is boring with your main argument being it isn't popular in the US, but overwhelming popular around the world

not arguing pick up games in the street.

Organized football is what is very costly.
So, is organized compe ion the only source for any given person in any country in the world to enjoy a sport, the only factor that determines if the sport is entertaining? Pick up games, where most people begin in life before joining a team, don't count at all? ...the most common type of game?

k, I've been waiting for someone to explain how or why.

    Go for it.

A 65-64 hoops game can be painful to watch
A 65-64 hoops game in the NBA would be among the lowest total scoring games ever.

.....and yet would still be more entertaining than the highest scoring soccer match, imo.

But since you seem to be about numbers, then I guess Marathon >>>>>>> basketball
    that makes no sense.

    huge fail, imo

I saw a stupid, ignorant statement about how soccer might overtake basketball in the US someday and responded, but yeah, that's pretty much the gist.

    BTW,
    lol

America loves soccer........I just know it.

organized American tackle football is just not an accessible sport for the masses to play, primarily due to the costs, imo.

the American sport of basketball is cheap to play, easy to learn and accessible to the masses.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if basketball some day became the world's most popular sport.
LMAO oh right...it's not accessible for the masses around the world, except for in the US where millions of kids play pick up games growing up. You dumb er why do you keep thinking in terms of compe ive play?

No school that I know of gives scholarships for touch football. Doubtful they would ever sell tickets to watch it if they did, imo.

The rules aren't exactly simple for football either. In soccer and basketball, you pick up the ball and you pretty much know what to do.

    Football, not so much, imo.
LMAO oh right the only reason people play sports and deem them enjoyable is exclusively when they think they'll land a scholarship.

BTW, rugby isn't exactly the simplest game either...

Winning payouts aside, it is absolutely true that playing organized high school tackle football costs more than organized professional tennis.

People don't give a because they really don't have either the desire or the means to fund it, imo.

TBH, I hate the fact that Americans, (most notoriously, Texans) spend tax money on building multi-million dollar high school football stadiums.
That's interesting because for me and my friends in high school, like all public high schools, it was free to play football for the team.

crofl crofl I was responding to that comment originally.

My point about it being popular all over the world but not in the US was more of a simple observation really...

I've given my opinion on it.....what is your opinion as to why soccer is not one of the big 3 or 4 sports in the US when it's the #1 sport in the world?

pretty hard to find a pick up game of full 11 on 11 tackle football.

Where do you go to find such a game?

You can play a good game of tackle football with 6 or 7 on a side.

Tackle football is what is popular to watch.

ESPN will never broadcast flag football league games on Monday nights, you dumber er.

LMAO oh right the only reason people play sports and deem them enjoyable is exclusively when they think they'll land a scholarship.

    nothing new.

this is how it has gone for as long as I can remember on messageboards:

Soccer is boring and sucks, imo
    WHAT?!?!?! Soccer kicks ass!!
Really? How can a 0-0 tie ever kick ass?
It just does. Soccer is the #1 sport in the world for a reason.
Great, what's the reason it's not a top 3 sport in America?
    You're a stupid dumb .
Now my feelings are hurt and I still don't know why soccer kicks so much ass.

You must have had a boring youth. Between the ages of 10 and 14 I did nothing but play pickup football nearly everyday. Many days it was tackle.

When I hit 14 I found basketball which I played pickup games into my mid 20s on a regular basis but I still occasionally played football too although the older we got the more it trended to touch.
