I guess you are more of a man than actual football players that use helmets...

    or just dumb and lucky.
You have no clue because you never played. Kids can play tackle football without helmets or pads. The hits are not as bad when your a kid being hit by another kid.

so you are saying that Pop Warner kids don't need to wear helmets and pads?

Most of us that know how tackle football works would disagree.
Pop Warner is organized football and in organized football they wear equipment .
Pickup street football you go at it with no equipment. You get banged up, sprained ankles and the wind knocked out from time to time but no one every broke any bones or had serious injuries in my neighborhood games.

Could little kids get by with no pads? Absolutely. But putting on a helmet and pads for the kids is half the fun and reducing liability for the league is the other half.

Those of us who aren't total pussies would disagree, TBH.

It also helped playing in cold weather, Connecticut where there would be enough layers of sweatshirts that went as padding.

    right, there's a liability.

kindergartners can probably get by I guess. If that's when you played tackle football everyday, then I can see how you don't recall getting hurt.

Pop warner goes up to age 14, 160lbs. If you don't think they need a helmet at that age, frankly you're ignorant.

Blake - if you want to try to make me seem like a bigger pussy than you because I have little cartilage left in my right knee and the impact from basketball has had a bad effect on it, then feel free. But given what you've posted in this thread, not sure how successful you'll be.

You really should have just let this die after pretty much everyone acknowledged you were a hairy fishy smelling young boy. Nice bump.

tbh the only reason i don't watch soccer more is simply lack of exposure. i don't think the game is boring at all

it's hard to catch on to a sport when all the best players are from other countries and not even playing here. the MLS is a complete joke compared to the rest of the world. on top of that, they rarely ever broadcast those games anyway. so it's much harder for me to catch on when American players are considerably worse than players around the world

everytime the World Cup is on, i root for America just as much as any of my favorite teams in the NBA, NFL, or MLB

I think you implying that basketball was tougher on you than than the tackle football you played many times is a rather stupid comment to make.

Almost as stupid as you thinking soccer might actually overtake basketball in popularity here in the US.

You really should have just let this die after pretty much everyone acknowledged you were a hairy fishy smelling young boy. Nice bump.
10 year old kids can crack skulls in organized tackle football. If you've played organized tackle football with no helmet at that age or older, then feel free to talk all the tough guy you want.

Of course, that would make you stupid beyond belief, but definitely tough as .

WPS seeing record ticket sales after the WWC. MLS having a huge season with a huge increase. The Gold Cup final etc etc etc.

The evidence points to you being wrong. Obviously not everyone will continue to watch but the fact is more and more people care about soccer each year. Its already bigger than the NHL in this country and pretty soon MLB then the NBA. Probably will never catch the NFL though.

I think you implying that basketball was tougher on you than than the tackle football you played many times is a rather stupid comment to make.
It was definitely tougher on my knee. I played far more basketball then I did football. You somehow think because I played tackle football that never had any adverse affects on my knee that it completely overrides the knee injuries I had while playing basketball and the literal impact of jumping that many times on my knees?

Almost as stupid as you thinking soccer might actually overtake basketball in popularity here in the US.
I know right! Basketball has always been the most popular sport and always will be...Oh...wait....

10 year old kids can crack skulls in organized tackle football. If you've played organized tackle football with no helmet at that age or older, then feel free to talk all the tough guy you want.
YOU brought organized into this. No one else did. You were a pussy who couldn't play tackle with your friends as a kid because you'd have your vagina bruised so easily.

And it doesn't matter than kids can crack their skulls playing football. They can crack their skulls walking down the stairs. Thats not to say that we wouldn't consider anyone walking down the stairs with a helmet a pussy.

But anyway, lets be clear Blake. No one would have made fun of you for playing Pop Warner with pads and a helmet. YOU said this:

It never took long for someone to get hurt bad playing tackle football even in someones yard. It got old quick. We always played touch on the street......and even then we got beat up pretty good.
I mean , if you can't even play touch without getting hurt then there really is no hope for you.

I really don't care that you don't like soccer or that you don't think its ever going to catch on. That's fine. No one is ever going to win an argument of opinions.

On the other hand, saying that you as a kid couldn't handle tackle football and had a hard time with touch is a pretty sure fire way to prove just how weak you are.

I really don't have a clue, probably a mix of not beign an American invented sport, a lack of exposure and lack of an elite football player born in the us. I'm sure that if the US had a Messi or a Cristiano Ronalo the sport would be a lot bigger there.

Worst injury I ever saw first hand was playing basketball. Dude broken either his radius or ulna and the bone broke through the skin. Did see a guy break his collar bone - with full pads - my freshman year of football. But it didn't break through the skin and he just looked like someone had shoot him in the shoulder as he cried out for our coach.

I'd imagine that what Blake looked like everytime he got touched playing football in the street.

I'd say a lot of rugby players are stupid for not wearing protective gear, but rugby rules are not the same as American football.

your ignorance of the difference between the two sports is duly noted.
