I called again and a rep told me they are waiting for a formal communication from HP after which they will drop their listed price online and give credit as per policy.

I stopped into a BB tonight and the guy said that there are likely still some at the warehouse and the best bet is to come back on tuesday morning first thing and check it out. My hp.com order finally says processing, so I think I will be able to get one...... Kmart's website has them at full price if you want to pick it up and work on pricematch. I would say your chances are pretty good considering sears has them for 149/99 (sold out). You could buy it, try the price match and if after a couple of days it doesn't work, then return it.
also, with JIT inventory, walmart is likely to get some more overnight tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if they all got 3-4 tonight from distribution.
BTW, just checked and my card has also been charged... I should be getting one.
What time do you think Wal-Mart might get some? Should I make an early early morning trip to Wallyworld?
It was from the order I was able to get through on hp.com last night, though there was some doubt considering they didn't charge my card, and I was in "order being verified" status for 26 hours. Now the status changed, and my card was charged...... So I feel pretty good about my chances now.
As far as wallyworld, that was a guess, an educated one, but a guess nonetheless. If my guess pans out, then they should be stocking right now... I would call (or better go there) right now and hope the ineptness of the night shift doesn't mess with your chances.

Hmm - the people here are lazy as so maybe I'll give them a bit of time. Pretty damn sure no one in Santa Fe will be up there at 3am looking for Touchpads.

Generally the card is charged only when the unit boxed and ready to ship in SAP, so you should be good to go.
