espn3 loads but not really working for me yet.
Espn3 is a bit laggy for me at first but once the video loads it runs pretty smooth. Is your touchpad overclocked?
Just tried espn3 again it's choppy as now.
it was working fine earlier.
Yeah I'm using Uberkernal at 1.5 so it should play fine. Ah well, w/e. I'll with it tomorrow.
Oh - spend the 7 bucks to buy Kalemsoft media player if you want to watch movies or divx files on your TP. It ing rocks.
I haven't spent any money on the other dozen or so apps I've gotten, not sure why I'll spend seven bucks on that, lol.
Dead platform any way.

HP: TouchPad will receive OTA udpate for added 'functionality'
HP has been saying this almost since they killed the hardware. What do you bet some of the 'added functionality' are these patches we've all already installed?
Speaking of HP, they just sent out an email saying it would be 'several weeks' before any more machines might be available from them. What a cluster .
ESPN3 is working for me now ... tho I did just install the 1.8 GHz F4 kernel. Works so well I might go for the 1.9 GHz F16 kernel.
Details on F16: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1230912
You have to add another feed *and follow the instructions precisely*, when it says to reboot after adding that third one, do it.
EDIT: Well, only one core is going at 1.8, so instead I'm going to find the 1.7 Warthog kernal which is supposed to keep both in the loop.
damn the kindle app sucks. i mean for adding pirated books. oh well i guess the touchpad will remain for porn and web surfing only. no reading
can't you just get pdfs of books off usenet?
So, unless I don't have an internet connection, I think that I will not use QuickOffice HD. I prefer the (comparitively) plethora of options that google docs offers. Either that, or I might use MS Office online (havent tried it yet).
So HP just charged me so maybe I'll be getting the 32gb TP after all.
HP TouchPad to make a comeback: HP announced that they would be firing up assembly lines for one last run of the ill-fated HP TouchPad. The $100 price tag will stick and units will become available just in time for the holidays.
Agreed. Just read it PDF style. No need to get all fancy.
why are they doing this when the cost to build one is like $300?!
The only way that I can see HP making money (or making up some money) is from someone like me (which is admittedly not going to be a large portion of firesale buyers)... I have been thinking (on and off) about purchasing a new AIO printer. I want to have one that is wireless, so that I dont have to remember to go and turn on the old desktop that I have my printer hooked up to every time I want to print from my laptop (or now my touchpad). I didn't really have a preference on brand before (though my current brothers printer is still running like a champ), I really only wanted a decent wireless printer for under $100 (would like a seperate photo paper loading tray, but is not necessary). Now I am taking a harder look at HP printers.
Probably because they have parts in stock and have to just put them together. Better build and sell a few more, than to throw all those parts away.
Sooo, is the touchpad really worth it's original $400 price?
I would put it around $300 (and by looking at ebay, it seems that the market thinks so as well).
The original price was $499/$599, later dropped to $399/$499 when they didn't sell.
Thing is if HP had done all the mods that are out in the homebrew community (running @1.5 GHz, getting rid of the logging and all the other crap, etc) up-front people would have had a much better initial impression. The 3.0 release running 1.2 GHz and with logging (etc) enabled is laggy as . 3.0.2 is a little better, but all the patches and the 1.5 GHz kernal make it look much more compe ive. $299 (16GB) / $379 (32) would have gotten a lot more people looking at it IF they'd gone to the trouble of patching it up first.
