Like I mentioned before in an earlier post. Some nitch professions will be using Macs. I worked in one of those industry's and have first hand knowledge. But the fact is that It's a mirage. When it comes to certain applications I can understand using a Mac. But you can do most of those functions with applications using a Windows based OS on a PC just as well. The PC is customizable, cost effective and when it comes down to the OS you can customize business apps to integrate processes. Your not doing that with a piece of fruit.

I've never had to jack around with a PC. I've built them, upgraded them, you name it.
Anyone who considers computer upkeep as "jacking around" needs a Mac, because they are too stupid to own a PC.
I guess by those standards, I've jacked around with my vehicles by changing my own oil and transmission fluids, doing flushes, fuel filter changes and such instead of getting a Prius and getting down to business.

You might be the exception then, at least until fairly recently.
Nowadays I mostly use PC/Macs/Unix, but I started off basically since the personal computer was introduced (Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, etc)
Until recently, Windows always had a way to corrupt itself at some point or another. BSOD, freezes, whatever you want to call it. Even basic stuff like installing a network printer or updating drivers could end up with the all not uncommon "You need to reinstall windows".
Now, for anybody with memory, MacOS 7, 8 and 9 had relatively the same problems though, at least as far as crashes/freezes are concerned.
i do considerably less jacking around on my macbook pro than what i did with my pc. i even made a thread in the geek forum asking what all things i need to jack around when i got my macbook pro. i felt pretty dumb because, after time, i've learned that no jacking around is needed BUT that is not to say I need jacking around while I do regular ho hum stuff.
Calling people that value their time "dumb", is pretty dumb, tbh
I don't know what is meant by "jacking around" but I've almost always had to tweak windows in some way to get it to run optimally for me. I've never used a MacOS machine for very long so I can't really comment on them but I find it hard to believe they don't require some tweaking as well. If they truly do not, then that is indeed impressive.
That being said, I've never had problems with viruses or big time crashing on my computers outside of hardware failure. I've used computers for 17 years so. I think the virus issue has more to do with the ignorance or stupidity of a user rather than the OS.
Maybe you should research a little about Macs...and you will find out that...
there is no need for "computer upkeep"...as this would take valuable time away for the work you are trying to accomplish...or from the fun you are having on your Mac...while PC users are "upkeeping"...
This is a big thing that surprises many people when they switch over to Macs...they are pleasantly surprised to find out that things just make sense on a Mac and they are user friendly...
It does not mean that it makes anyone stupid...the statement you made is what is stupid...
it is like saying that you'd rather have a car that breaks down on you regularly and leaves you stranded...because this makes you a "competent" car owner...while those idiots who drive around in dependable cars are doing so because they are too stupid to fix the car....
FWIW, I don't spend anytime upkeeping anything on my laptop and it still runs as good as the day I got it. I'm not sure what time I'm wasting.
Fact is, if you know what you're buying, you know what baggage it comes with.
I've had my good share of Windows reinstalls, and my good share of Mac crashes or hardware failures.
Windows 7 and MacOS X have really mitigated a lot of those problems too.
From a usage standpoint, the "superior" system is what works for you, IMO.
I've had a few bad rounds with BSOD and windows re installs but in each case the culprit turned out to be bad memory or a bad HDD.
One thing that was definitely more noticeable in older versions of windows (I'm thinking 95 and 98) was the lag that would develop after time. Your system would generally slow down and a new format/windows install might help you get speed.
Hey chief when you buy a mac do you realize your done with it? aside from maybe a memory upgrade at very expensive prices your stuck with what you purchased. I can take my PC and do what ever the I want with it. If I want to run all OS known to man I can. Its called virtualization. Not only that I can customize the hardware needed. What can you do with that piece of fruit?
