the overall rating aka the rating that was posted in the original post includes everything, so while parker may have a 90+ in categories like speed and quickness he probably has an average shot, rebounding, assists, and defense rating which brings his overall rating down...same with dirk, his shot and offense in general may have a high 90s rating but his pathetic rebounding and defense brings hiss overall rating down

Also, I like that 2k12 isn't overrating Dirk based on him winning a ring, he had a very average NBA finals. LeBron didn't play up to his standards in the finals, but still had a better overall playoff run than Dirk, that's obvious. It's also obvious he's far and away the best player in the league. For anyone to question his high rating is pure hating.

Dirk is a below average defender and that explains the 85, but seriously they guy is a cheeseball. his shot inside, close, medium, and 3-pt are all over 90. He will hardly miss a shot.

Which tells you how bad the 2k formula is. The fact you could be 99 in all shooting stats and still have below a 90 rating tells you that. They also don't emphasize the size advantage, moving without the ball, shooting in traffic, and creating your own shot. All of those things put into a small category of many more categories. Running fast and jumping high give you better overall offensive rating? Aka Amare Stoudemire's stats being higher.

its a video game man. they overrate the players that the customers want like your example amare. he should be a 84 or 85 at best and seriously D12 being an 93 & kobe a 94. doesnt matter i remember the most unstoppable player in 2k11(other than Jordan) was Yao & he was rated 83. you could score over anyone, block anyone, & grab every rebound.
