TCU did in fact lose. It will be very interesting to watch if Daje Johnson is offered on Monday. I think Texas is slipping with Daniel Brooks. Offer Johnson as a utility back and don't look back.
Some big visit news...per Hook 'Em 24/7, ATH Daje Johnson of Pflugerville Hendrickson received a phone call from Bryan Harsin this morning and he was invited to campus on Monday afternoon after school. Johnson agreed and he's scheduled to sit down with the coaches around 5 p.m. Sounds like the staff is moving pretty fast on this one and it says a lot that Johnson agreed to come in so quickly. He's been waiting to hear more from Texas since the season started. Just three questions I have:
1.) Does he get an offer on Monday?
2.) How long does it take him to switch (or will he)? Good thing he's at the TCU game right now and hopefully they end up losing.
3.) What position is the staff recruiting him for? They could be using ATH Daniel Brooks' offer here or they may see him as a DB.

I'd like to know what happened with the Brooks recruitment. UT just didn't push very hard after they offered in April.
Correction on 2013 OL/DL Jake Raulerson...he was actually in Gainesville tonight to see Florida/Alabama. It was orginally reported that he would be in Fort Worth for TCU/SMU. Sounds like he will be in Dallas next weekend for the RRR.
Agholor was also at the Florida game tonight. Jake and Nelson couldn't have been impressed by a 28 point loss, and the Swamp emptying out before the 4th quarter.
I just wish TAMU was the home team today against Arkansas. Another Aggie 2nd half collapse would have turned off the Metroplex recruits.
Great news on Raulerson making the RRR. I anticipate that Texas will play well.
Is it just me or are Jeffcoat and Okafor not really performing, well, great? I'd hate calling them busts (too early for that, at least for Jackson) but both were 5 star highly recruited players and they haven't really shown anything special. I was personally hoping one of them would end up being the next Orakpo, but I guess those expectations were too high.
Current Rivals 5 stars on the team:
Garrett Gilbert - Will probably transfer; bust
Tray Allen - Bust, mostly due to injuries. Has played ok this year though.
Alex Okafor -
Mason Walters - No complaints here
Jordan Hicks - Showing a lot of promise, I hope his injury wasn't serious
Jackson Jeffcoat -
Malcolm Brown - Looks to be the part
was just thinking what a great recruiting weekend for texas. look at results:
- a&m blows 18 point lead, their targets for 2013 didn't need to be there to see they have no heart and poor coaching and this is their up year.
- florida gets destroyed with raulerson and agholor there. i also thought marcell harris was supposed to be at that game from 2013 class but did not see him confirmed recently. all huge prospects for texas.
- nebraska absolutely crushed right before peat visits for official. now they play ohio state next who sucks this year for snoozer for a game in what earlier looked like national stage game. you have to think NU leads for peat regardless of some sites claiming they are not in his top 3.
- tcu loses to smu destroying any credibility they have gained.
- and last few weeks with florida state (edwards) and georgia (theus) both with two losses already and waivering on commitments.
if we beat the sooners, or even keep it very compe ive, watch out. edwards and raulerson being there is huge.

We are headed to Dallas this Saturday for the Texas/Oklahoma game at the Texas State Fair!

I'm fairly certain that Agholor was visiting unofficially. Has an official visit to Notre Dame planned. I don't think a date has been set yet.
My understanding is that Florida's big selling point to Agholor was proximity and how he'd be utilized in Charlie Weis' offense. Well Weis' offense was badly exposed last night by Alabama, and Florida's season is now very much in question after losing Brantley to an ACL injury. Gotta love that Florida is trending downward, and Texas is trending upward. Who would have thought we'd be back in the top 10 this soon?
Yeah, I asked that question before I really thought about it. Unfortunately, that wasn't his official visit to Florida but what went down last night against Alabama can't hurt Texas' chances. He's supposed to take his first official to Notre Dame this upcoming weekend for the Air Force game because his high school has a bye week.
Floss what's you're feeling on the OOS targets? My gut tells me a few will make official visits during game weekends, but I feel like more will visit during banquet weekend. My understanding is that the committed players are expected to be in Austin for the banquet. It would be great to FINALLY get Peat around the 2012 class.
Good piece on DB Bryson Echols where FSN followed him and the DeSoto team around on gameday a few weeks ago.

I'm also a little suprised by the lack of pressure, but next weekend will be interesting since Landry Jones isn't a scrambler at all.
This weekend was pretty money when looking at it from a recruiting perspective. Hopefully the staff will offer ATH Daje Johnson tomorrow afternoon. Should be a lot of recruiting news this week with Texas/OU coming up.

They will all be considered guests of UT since they are the home team this year. I think these guys may be allowed on the field before the game, but other than that there isn't much contact with the coaching staff (if at all).
Texas visitors but there are a lot of restrictions (which I don't know about) because it is a neutral field.
I think the idea is to get a lot of these guys in on banquet weekend and around the other commitments. It's a great thing that UT seems to be headed in a positive direction, but there's such a long way to go and things will continue to change. Here's a breakdown based off of my opinions since I'm bored at work...
WR, Dorial Green Beckham, Hillcrest (Springfield, MO)
Finalists: Mizzou, Oklahoma, Texas
Sleeper: Arkansas
Official to Texas?: Definitely
Comments: I still think this is a Big XII battle when all is said and done but the kind of passing performance that QB Tyler Wilson had on Saturday against Texas A&M could keep Arkansas in the mix. Fayetteville is actually closer to his hometown of Springfield than any other campus in consideration. I'm not as confident in Mizzou and OU as I was a while back and I think Green-Beckham represents the Longhorns' best shot at landing an out-of-state prospect. DGB's father, John Beckham, has a lot of respect for Mack Brown and the family was blown away on their unofficial visit to Austin. It will help that Harsin's offense continues to be productive, fun and creative along with the fact that almost every freshman has seen playing time.
OL, Andrus Peat, Corona del Sol (Tempe, AZ)
Finalists: Florida State, Nebraska, Texas
Sleeper: Notre Dame and/or Auburn
Official to Texas?: Definitely
Comments: I honestly think this kid is UT bound if it weren't for his older brother at Nebraska. The family connection will be tough to overcome but it can be argued that schools such as Florida State and Texas offer him more as that cornerstone LT prospect. He is another guy that will take notice of all the freshmen playing early at UT. His parents are excited to get to Austin and meet the staff since they were unable to accompany Peat on his unofficial in July and this is where the war will need to be won. Although the Peat family says they're comfortable with whatever decision Andrus makes, one has to think it would be a favorable situation for them to have both of their boys at Nebraska. I take solace in the fact that this is where Mack Brown shines and Connor Brewer is still doing a of a recruiting job for the Horns. We'll have to wait and see how he reacts to his official visits and the first one is going down this upcoming weekend when he visits Lincoln for Nebraska/Ohio State.
OL, John Theus, Bolles (Jacksonville, FL)
Finalists: Florida, Georgia, Texas
Sleeper: Notre Dame
Official to Texas?: Highly possible
Comments: It's pretty obvious that Theus isn't comfortable with his commitment to Georgia since he's already scheduled his first official visit to South Bend for Notre Dame/USC on October 22nd. He and his family want to have that contingency plan in place when/if Mark Richt gets fired. Even if Theus does end up decommitting from UGA, I'm not convinced he looks at Texas before Florida but I'm leaning on the Stacy Searels factor. Searels still speaks with Theus on a weekly basis and he's one of the few coaches John will pick up the phone for. There's a trust factor there from when Searels recruited Theus' older brother, Nathan, for Georgia last year and that could be enough to get him to Austin. Sky's the limit from that point on.
DB, Landon Collins, Dutchtown (Geismar, LA)
Finalists: Alabama, LSU
Sleeper: Texas
Official to Texas?: Questionable
Comments: I probably shouldn't even label Texas as a "sleeper" in this recruitment because Collins has yet to visit Austin, but I will since he maintains that he's going to take an official visit. He continues to commend UT for their DB play, tradition and their communication school, but I don't see him venturing outside of the SEC. How often do studs from Louisiana not end up at LSU? Rarely. It also doesn't help that Alabama is a very strong second option for him.
ATH, Nelson Agholor, Berkeley Prep (Tampa, FL)
Finalists: Florida, Florida State, Texas, USC
Sleeper: N/A
Official to Texas?: Questionable
Comments: I was pretty confident about this recruitment after Agholor visited Austin over the summer and gushed about it for weeks. However, it feels like he's leaning towards playing WR more and more and I don't think he's confident that UT will oblige despite assuring him that he'll have his pick of position. The good news is we're already in October and he hasn't scratched UT from his list, but he'll need to get back to campus for the Horns to have a shot. I've always felt that he'd end up staying in Florida even though he's talked up Texas and USC the past few months.
I'll add that it could help that three of the five (Agholor, Collins and Peat) are playing in the 2012 Under Armour All-American Game in January along with all of those Texas commitments. Theus chose San Antonio for his all-star game and Green-Beckham has yet to make a decision.
I forgot DE Torshiro Davis. I guess that shows how much I think about him. I think he takes the same route as Collins and stays in the SEC. Bo Davis will do his thing if Torshiro makes it to campus for an official visit, but those LSU and Alabama defenses are looking damn good and UT may just be too far behind to play catch up. The Horns will do themselves a huge favor with a lot of recruits by having a good showing against OU this weekend.
Injury update going into the OU game...
**OL Dominic Espinosa has a sprained ankle but should be available this weekend.
**LB Jordan Hicks is day-to-day with a strained hamstring but should be good to go.
**S Christian Scott sustained a wrist injury and is out indefinitely.

Outstanding Floss. I like our chances with Peat, and I'm beginning to feel better about landing DGB.
Just a gut feeling, but I smell negative recruiting coming from Florida on Agholor. He's gone from gushing about Texas to believing that we only want him as a DB. Negative recruiting happens, it's a fact of life, but I still don't like it in any form.
The "offensive genius" Charlie Weis was exposed against Alabama, and I hope Agholor took notice. I strongly believe that Harsin would utilize Agholor better than Weis. I think Weis will prove to be a bad hire for Florida.
