    Very interesting barking carnival bit
    http://barkingcarnival.fantake.com/2...the-humidor-3/

I'm all for Ash taking the job full time, or at least close to it. I just worry McCoy wouldn't hang around very long.
Things could get tricky if Ash wins the job outright, but I've felt like he's been the best full-time option UT has had since he enrolled in January. I think he gives the Horns the best opportunity to test OU's DBs this weekend. I expect to see a lot of things we haven't seen before from both Diaz and Harsin.

Here's another out-of-state OL from the 2013 class that UT has reached out to. He is the son of Pittsburgh Steelers' OL coach, Sean Kugler. Some of you may remember that his name was being mentioned at one time for UT's OL coaching vacancy before it was filled by Stacy Searels.

OL, Patrick Kugler, North Allegheny (Wexford, PA) (6-5, 265)

Rumors out there that QB Garrett Gilbert was at an SMU practice yesterday along with his father. Could be a good landing spot for him with June Jones and much less pressure being a small program, but tough for me to imagine anyone lining up to give him a scholarship.

Another name from the 2013 class to add for Texas/OU:

OT, Ishmael Wilson, Dallas Bishop Dunne (6-5, 275)
    http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...-Wilson-120555

This is the first I've heard of the kid, but supposedly he'll be heavily recruited and LSU is after him the hardest right now. Turns out he's originally from Louisiana but moved to Dallas after Hurricane Katrina. He attended a two-day camp in Baton Rouge this summer. The good thing is he plays with current Texas commit, DT Alex Norman, and will likely travel to the Cotton Bowl with him this weekend, but the bad news is LSU is the offer he wants and it's rumored he'll commit right away.

Some interesting quotes from 2013 DT Isaiah Golden of Elysian Fields about his recent visit to Texas A&M. Thankfully they haven't offered him quite yet.

“It was pretty amazing,” he said of his first game day experience in College Station. “All those fans were crazy. The coaches were great too. I talked to Coach (Randy) Jordan and (Terrell) Williams after the game. We just talked about me coming there to play football. At the moment, I was like, ‘I don’t know. I think I’m going wait it out.’ But I think I’ve made my mind up on where I want to go.”

“It’s close to home and it just feels like home too,” he said. “Playing time was another thing because by the time I get there I would be able to compete for a starting position. I’ve talked it over with my mom and my coaches already. They think that’s where I should go too.”

“I’m just waiting on A&M to offer me,” he said. “They haven’t given me a time-frame or anything but I’m supposed to go back up there for the Baylor game. If they offer I would commit.”

“I’ve been hearing from Baylor and Texas a lot,” he said. “I plan on going to see Baylor and maybe Texas. Right now, I think I could picture myself going to Texas but I don’t know. It’s five hours away from home so that’s what I don’t like.”

Makes me think UT will have to take an additional QB in the 2012 class or two QBs in the 2013 class. Depending on what happens the rest of the year, you could be looking at only two scholarship QBs on the roster starting the 2012 season (Ash, Brewer).

Floss, I know those are direct quotes. I read the article too, but I wouldn't put too much stock into a Taylor Hamm interview. He asks extremely leading questions. See the now infamous Davante Bourque interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB2dNRXj8I0

In a perfect world, Texas should take Swoopes and Barrett in the 2013 class, but they likely won't come together in the same class. I like Del Barnes athletic upside a lot, I wouldn't mind Texas taking him in the 2012 class.

I think the most likely scenario is to take 2 QBs in 2012 and Swoopes in 2013.

Just FYI that DB Mykkele Thompson has been working with the QBs this week in practice. He'd be a huge asset in the wildcat.
I love that kid. He's going to be a good one, no matter what position(s) he ends up playing.

Nobody has ever accused Hamm of being objective. Golden is a wide-eyed East Texas boy right now who had his first big college gameday experience when he attended Texas A&M/Oklahoma State. UT needs to get him to a home game and I'm glad that Bo Davis is his position recruiter.

I'm with that approach and taking a second QB in 2012. If Swoopes is UT's guy (and I think he is), then I'd like him to be the only QB in the 2013 class. Both Bryan Harsin and Bruce Chambers going to Swoopes' game during UT's bye week is pretty significant, IMO. It's also important to remember that Chambers coached Swoopes' father in high school. A good "in" to have in that recruitment.

I'll add to this list as well as we get closer to Saturday's game. I'm still waiting to find confirmations on four guys in the 2012 class. 12 of the 18 commitments are accounted for and I can tell you that LB Tim Cole and DT Malcom Brown will not make it in (they have a game on Saturday). That leaves WR Cayleb Jones, OL Kennedy Estelle, OL Camrhon Hughes and DT Paul Boyette, Jr. as the only commitments who have not made their plans known.
