I'm not sure if a freshman Brewer would be better than a Sop re Ash. But I really don't care as long as we win.

not going to disagree. but i would be shocked if brewer would be a step down if he enrolls early and works hard over next year.

normally i would hold out hope for ash, but usually even a true freshman shows at least some flashes his first year. i haven't seen even glimpses to give me reason to hold out hope.

Brewer needs to redshirt. Problem is he can't if McCoy transfers. Hopefully the starting job opening back up keeps Case in Austin for another year so Brewer and Overstreet can redshirt. The positive aspect of all this is that Ash and McCoy can't get any worse and will only improve with another offseason.

That's what sucks so much about the current situation. Can you really make a conclusion about Ash after only five games as a starter considering he's a true freshman who didn't get proper reps in the offseason because of the Gilbert experiment? Normally you wouldn't have a knee-jerk reaction like that but I agree that Ash just isn't helping himself at all. Harsin is going to have to determine at some point if he can pass this season off as growing pains or if Ash simply doesn't have "it." You go with Brewer and you risk being right back where you're currently at. Like I said above, when is the proper time to bite the bullet and pick someone? There has to be a stopgap somewhere and a JUCO QB doesn't look like a realistic option.

Update on DT Brandon Moore...he had a visit to Florida scheduled for this weekend but he's cancelled those plans. Not sure if it's because it's Thanksgiving weekend or if he's all but ready to announce his commitment to Texas. All reports indicate that the Horns still have a huge lead and Bo Davis is a big reason why.

Here's his recruiting profile from 2009 when he signed with Bama:

    http://rivals.yahoo.com/alabama/foot...on-Moore-79237

I don't think Bo Davis would bring him in if he couldn't see significant playing time and help with depth at DT. I've read that if he was rated amongst the 2012 class that he'd be Top 100 and maybe even Top 50. I don't know much about him other than that except that he's just a massive prospect (in a good way).

neither one has shown any sort of improvement over this season, what makes you think the offseason will help much? (honest question) Case isn't going to grow an arm, but Ash might get a little better.

WR Dorial Green-Beckham has had a change of plans and will be officially visiting Norman this weekend for OU/Iowa State. He was supposed to be at Auburn for the Iron Bowl but no word if he's rescheduled.
This one could change once more. There's a possibility that DGB has a basketball game Saturday night so he wouldn't be making the trip to Norman. This next game is OU's "Senior Night" so it would be great for UT to have him avoid that atmosphere. It's also looking like Auburn is going to be dropped from his list.

I'm just saying they can't get worse only better. Starting Brewer only puts Texas back at Square 1.

Even better news...Moore has apparently said he will not be taking any additional official visits. Looking good for UT.

DMX got lucky. Here are some quotes from Mr. Beckham after DGB's official to UT:

"We had been there this past summer. We came for a visit previously so it was lot of repeat of what we had seen earlier. But it's a great place, Austin is a great town," coach Beckham said. "Everybody was very hospitable. He had a really good time."

"Obviously, they're short of bodies at wide receiver. I couldn't really tell you the number or depth chart, but I know they were saying that going into spring practice, they're going to be short on scholarship wide receivers," coach Beckham said. "They're going to bring in several wide receivers this year and Dorial would have an opportunity to come in and compete for playing time right away."

"It's not really something he talks about much. Of course, everybody wants to come in and play as soon as he can, and I'm sure he does too, but we're not studying depth charts and seeing who is coming in where or what wide receivers are going to which schools to find easiest road as far as compe ion," coach Beckham said.

"The first impressions that you get from Johnathan Gray is that he's kind of a fun guy to be around, he's easy to be around. Dorial is the same way. It takes about an hour and then you'll be like best friends," coach Beckham said. "I know they had a good time and Dorial had a good time with other recruits there. That's just kind of fits his personality."

"I would say that's the biggest hurdle for Texas, the distance factor. Texas has everything to offer for Dorial as far as education, opportunities, opportunities after graduation and the football program itself. They have everything to offer any recruit. There are several schools that have that as well. The biggest negative for Dorial is that there is a distance," coach Beckham said. "It's obviously not a deal breaker or he wouldn't have made an official visit, but it's probably the biggest negative in viewing Texas. But there's a non-stop flight from Branson, Missouri, about 30 minutes south of here. The biggest thing as a parent is not so much distance, it's about having relatively easy access and there is that."

I believe there actually two options out of Branson, MO. You can take Branson Air Express or Frontier non-stop to Austin.

Good find. I think UT has a really good shot. Searels has done a great job and Hawkins knows he'll start right away. It sucks that he won't be in Austin for spring ball if he does commit.

Moore and brown will be nice on the d line next year.
It's encouraging that Moore qualified out of high school (Hawkins didn't), but the rules violations at Alabama are something Mack and Co. will have to get over. Let's hope for a commitment announcement soon.

Coach Beckham has mentioned the direct flight from Branson to Austin several times. If the Beckhams feel comfortable making that flight multiple times a year, maybe distance becomes less of a concern.

Don't forget Whaley. He is disruptive as . The DT rotation should be pretty damn salty next year with the possible addition of Brandon Moore.

I feel pretty good about Hawkins, and I'm certainly not the only one. Show him an enrollment and academic plan, and I think we're good there. Enjoy a legitmate RT for the next 2 years.

Edit: Sanders has been offered at WR
Hook 'Em 24/7 confirmed last week's rumors that Sanders had been offered at WR. He was also on campus today speaking with the staff and they're confident he'll eventually switch to UT. It's looking like WR Marcus Johnson won't enter the picture for the time being, so don't be surprised if he switches to Texas A&M soon.
