Why is that? Source?
Looks like Hill may be back in play.
Why is that? Source?
The Pietrus to Toronto trade is off. He failed his physical. The trade freed up extra cash for the Hill deal.
So there is hope again ...
At this point if it's between RJ and Josh Howard, I'd take RJ over him any day. No point in getting rid of RJt his year anymore, unless its at the trade deadline. Just keep him and get a big man through sign and trade, trade, or a diamond in the rough free agent, if he exists.
Just get rid of him. It's addition by subtraction even if no one signs with the Spurs.
Awkward season if he stays.
I remember a thread or post a year ago or so ago suggesting a straight up trade of Blair for Mbah a Moute and almost everyone said it was a terrible idea... still feel the same way?
sadly im starting to feel this way id prefer no rj but undecided if id rather have jho
Parker and Hill and Dice and Bonner and Blair were all equally in the playoffs.
Here's the bottom line: If RJ is still starting/playing big minutes ahead of Cowhigh by the playoffs, it's time to declare the window officially shut.
At least Tony showed up after the first two games.
Don't know if they'll be able to add anybody, but the window is shut as it is right now.
And Jefferson showed up for the first two games. Incidentally when Tony started "showing" up Jefferson started fading. Tony's aggressiveness tends to hurt RJ since he's not a pure point. Also he was aggressive but not necessarily efficient. That combination was part of the problem.
I will not be ignoredbut what's wrong with Shawne Williams and McRoberts?
I know these are highlights, but not many players on the Spurs (role players) have better highlights than these 2. Both are unrestricted, affordable and fill some of the needs the Spurs have:
Must have missed that.
I know nothing about the guy but...
1. 6'7".25 without shoes
2. He shot 40% 3pt last year
3. Has very good lane agility
Knicks only offered him 980,000 but the Nets are reported to be interested in him.
From watching some of the video I saw him get under a the skin of a couple of people. Big plus. He just can't retaliate like he did.
I would think the Spurs would be interested in this guy with limited options but I haven't heard anything.
McRoberts can't shoot the three...
You forgot...
4. Is a complete knucklehead who has multiple drug arrests/convictions.
Something Pop now demands out of all his bigs.
McRoberts didn't take a whole lot (60 in 72 games), but he did hit at 38%.
looking at the "replacement" list I didn't notice the name of Shawne Williams...
That looks weird to me.
He's a sf.
Can shoot from the outside and also from the three point line.
Last year, has also been a more than decent defender.
He's athletic and young like rj (also if not as strong builded as RJ is).
His price is not at as high...and looks to be certainly in our range (2/3 milliois a year).
OK, I know he had a bad reputation, but looks however like a more than decent fit (in case NY doesn't sign him).
McRoberts is reportedly going to Grzzlies or Lakers. (the latter makes even more sense, now that Odom is gone)
Shawne Williams would be another Sjax try. why not, if he signs for small money. (but why should he, when he can stay in NY for the same kind of money).
"A lot of stuff I did three years ago, I won't do right now," Williams said last month. "You get older and grow up. That's life. I had a lot of problems when I first got into the NBA, but I was young. I feel like I haven't gotten into any trouble not to be on the court. I'm finally not getting into trouble, and I'm not on the court. That's mind-boggling."
The power of the spurs culture/personnel/location can do great things to a trouble young man's career. The only reason I would hesitate is having a potential negative influence on Kawhi or Blair. People change as they mature. So who knows the person he is today.
That being said, the Spurs need to make moves. Their moves have to involve risk. It may be and unknown player from euroleague(pargo), an injured player(tmac), a fatty(curry), or a druggy(Shawne). They haven't took any risk yet. I was ok with first three and I am ok with this guy. At the very least Spurs should have conversations with him to factor into the decision.
I just can't turn my back on a guy with...
1. 6'7".25 without shoes
2. 7'3"wingspan
3. 40% 3pt
4. 83% ft
5. Very good lane agility
we need bigs man for the 5 position
not another wing player or undersized big
most of the bigs are gettin signed while we sit on our asses, either they are trying to sit it out and wait when everyone is settled with their rosters and amnesty anyone so we can dipped into that basket of players to pry from....
He's a PF. He played more center than small forward last season.
Add the character red flags to the fact he's never successfully played SF and it'd be a pretty dumb signing for the Spurs. Maybe as a Bonner replacement but there's not a fit as a RJ replacement.
