What's wrong with them placing a bid and winning? What's your beef with them.

will be intersting to see, if B-B-B-Billups is really showing up in LA.

The Clippers have matched Golden State's offer sheet for DeAndre Jordan, league source tells Y! Sports.
Adrian Wojnarowski: The Clippers matched Golden State's 4 year, $43M-plus offer sheet that includes a trade kicker, source tells Y! Sports.
is the bidding over? i can't believe the clippers would make this move (well actually i can). billups already expressed his discontent and obviously wants to go to the heat. they should revive the CP3 trade talks and push it through. this move is so dumb, what are the clippers going to do with an aging vet PG? first round exit?
They're getting a proven, veteran point guard at a fraction of his salary and counting on the probability that he will put his big boy pants on, remember he is a professional, and do his job.
i have no doubt that billups will play through this but the clippers don't need billups, they need CP3. this move signals that the trade is essentially dead if the clippers are looking for a replacement. having both cp3 and billups doesn't make sense. they still have mo williams to get rid of too. cp3 would be a move for the future. a CP3/blake/butler/jordan core can easily accomplish the same things as billups/blake/butler/gordon and would provide a better future as well.
Did you see what NO wanted form the Clips? Asking price was way too steep, so the Clips smartly got out of the cp3 trade.
if that deal was successful, the clippers would have cp3/random SG/butler/griffin/jordan as their starting five. amnesty williams, slap on some solid bench players and this team could easily be a legitimate contender. bledsoe and aminu weren't much anyways and probably would be on the first plane out as soon as they hit the FA. the first pick wouldn't matter as much because the clippers would be loaded already (as opposed to their constant state of rebuilding). so it really just comes down to gordon. some reports say that gordon was included, some say that he wasn't. but gordon shouldn't make or break the deal, the clippers would be set with or without him.
Per Marc Gasol's twitter:
I'm proud to say that we have reached a tentative agreement with my team @memgrizz , can't wait to get on the court with all my teammates!
This doesn't take them out of the CP3 sweepstakes in the slightest. Billups is a great insurance option in case Stern doesn't back off of his demand for Gordon. If the bid is less than $8.5 million per season then they also open up more cap room for Paul/Howard next season by signing him and amnestying Williams.
Bid was 3.5M for the one season remaining on Chauncey's contract.
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein
Source with knowledge of deal tells ESPN that Clippers' winning bid in waiver auction for Chauncey Billups was just over $2 million
I had read that is was 3.5M, but Stein is reliable.
Edit: I had read 3.5M on an earlier Stein tweet.
Clippers have more PGs than Minny and still trying to get Paul.
hm, this is true as i just read the talks have restarted. although, i don't know how happy billups will be if cp3 ends up in LA. the clippers would be in the most excellent shape if they can manage the trade without including gordon or the minny pick.
bledsoe will be included in the deal, williams will be amnestied/traded away, and gordon is not a PG. this would be a ridiculous deal if the clippers somehow managed to pull in paul. cp3 with billups backing him up plus griffin and jordan manning the frontcourt? holy crap.
It was just an observation, and I was counting Foye not Gordon.
I think them claiming Billups means they're ready to relent on Bledsoe. Adding Bledsoe and even a second 1st to the Timberwolves 1st, Kaman and Aminu package, should be a no brainer for the Clippers. As long as the end game is keeping Gordon and adding Paul to Griffin, Gordon, Jordan, Butler and Billups, it'll be worth it.
That core would probably instantly vault them to sixth best in the West, with the potential to rise higher. And as long as Paul's knee holds up, a Griffin, Paul, Gordon, Jordan core, would rival any core in the league long term.
I'd agree with all that. Now just need Stern to accept a deal that doesn't include Gordon.
I think he will. It's basic negotiating. Start off asking for the sun, the moon and the stars. Then give back the stars (Gordon) and pretend as if you compromised. When really, the deal you were angling for all along was the sun and the moon (Timberwolves 1st, Kaman, Aminu, Bledsoe and maybe a future Clippers 1st).
This would be a much better package for the Hornets than the one they accepted. Especially if they trade Kaman for more young assets and the league hands them the 1st pick and a second top five pick (not that they wouldn't be in the running anyway).
Silly me... I thought the Spurs were going to do something when the 9th came around.
What about Mareese Speights? I heard today through a tweet he may be available. Im starting to get depressed about not signing anyone above 6-10 with at realistic shot to help our frontline.
Yeah gimme corey brewer and mareese speights and the offseason wont be a total fail
