Correction on this...Mack will be visiting Copperas Cove first with Manny Diaz and Stacy Searels also along for the trip. They will head to Killeen to see Hughes after lunch.
One more pic of the UT commitments making their sales pitch to DE Mario Edwards:

A few more new ones. You'll need to zoom out.

Per Gerry Hamilton, Cayleb Jones meant to the Gig 'Em in that picture.
I don't really like the scholarship offer, but if it means:
"Most likely because I have always wanted to go to Texas," he said. "Especially with Kenny there for another year before he goes to the league."
I'm all for it.
Who is the small guy in red in the second pic?
Just a friend that DE Torshiro Davis brought along for the trip.
Welcome to the thread, ColinB.
Oh, Bill.
Thanks! Current UT student and avid reader/lurker of this thread. Appreciate all the great info you guys provide.
Perhaps this will help UT a little with DE Mario Edwards:

Am told Texas in lead for services of DE Mario Edwards, for now. Here's a number: Edwards gives Longhorns a 65-percent chance
Yeah we're not sure how reliable that is coming from the Daily Texan. Hopefully he's right.
Oh and welcome, good to see another current UT student here.
Good point, but I like to stay hopelessly optimistic.
I'm all for Edwards, but there is no way this guy stays at DE. He is HUGE. Does anyone know if some current DTs are on their way out? Bible?
EDIT: Of course, he wouldn't have to change positions I suppose, but I think he could really excel as a DT.
Edwards is emphatic about staying at DE. One of the things he loved about FSU is they told him he could play DE at any weight even if 300lbs+. If he keeps his speed I don't see why he can't stay at DE. Of course I believe he is over 280lbs now before even enrolling so we'll see how much he weights a year into college conditioning.
And I believe Bible and Cotton have one foot out the door among many others. Expect lots of attrition comings soon.

looks like some solid prospects thus far..maybe by the time next season starts theyll have their horns facing the right direction!
**Some good news to start the day...WR Dorial Green-Beckham will NOT be visiting OU this weekend because he has a scheduling conflict with his high school basketball team. That's great news for UT considering this is a big recruiting weekend for the Sooners. It's looking like DGB will wait until January to take his remaining officials to Arkansas and OU as he has nothing scheduled right now. There is even some small talk that he could be done taking visits altogether, but it's nothing to get worked up about right now.
**DE Mario Edwards received an in-home visit from OU's co-defensive coordinator, Bobby Jack Wright, last night. Edwards is still scheduled to visit Norman this weekend but it's possible he doesn't make it.
**Alabama's offensive cordinator, Jim McElwain, has left for the head coaching position at Colorado State.

Football: Ryan’s Edwards divided on FSU decision
Defensive end rethinks options after orally committing in March
08:38 AM CST on Tuesday, December 13, 2011
By Ben Baby / Staff Writer
Ryan defensive end and star recruit Mario Edwards said on Monday he’s split “50-50” on continuing his career at Florida State or another school.
Mario Edwards
Edwards, who orally committed to FSU in March, took a visit to Texas this weekend with Ryan linebacker Alex De La Torre, who has already committed to play for the Longhorns.
Edwards’ father, Mario Edwards Sr., attended FSU and is an assistant coach at Ryan. The younger Edwards said he enjoyed his trip to Austin.
“They had a lot to offer, and I definitely had a good time down there,” Edwards said. “They’re definitely on my radar.”
Edwards gave a nonbinding oral commitment to attend FSU in March. The first day Edwards can sign a letter of intent is Feb.1. The Ryan senior said he plans on making his decision when the time to sign approaches.
Edwards, a consensus top 10 recruit in the nation, said he really didn’t give Texas a chance at the beginning of the decision-making process.
Originally, the 6-foot-4-inch, 285 pound defensive end chose FSU because he felt comfortable at the school and it’s his father’s alma matter. Edwards said he’ll visit Oklahoma this weekend, and that he plans on taking visits to LSU and Southern California.
“I think I really jumped the gun and didn’t get to see what other schools had to offer,” Edwards said.
Edwards was named the 2010 Class 4A Defensive Player of the Year by The Associated Press. This year, he was a finalist for the Landry Award, which is given to the best high school player in the North Texas area. Aledo running back Johnathan Gray eventually won the award.
Edwards and De La Torre are two of six players from Ryan who have orally committed to Football Bowl Subdivision programs.

I saw the DGB is not making any more visits rumor, I'm not buying, but it is good that he visited Texas before the meat of his basketball season. That Kansas State game, despite being a close loss, could be one of the more important recruiting weekends in recent memory. Texas landed Brandon Moore, Donald Hawkins, and put themselves in a good position with DGB because of that weekend.
I think one of the remaining schools gets lost in the shuffle with Dorial's basketball schedule. I know Mizzou was iffy for a visit, it might be difficult for that to happen now. I'm also encouraged that DGB is yet to schedule a visit to Arkansas. They've gone from the co - favorites with OU to fighting for a visit in January.
Remember always that Mack has the in home visit ace up his sleeve. The only person as good as Mack in the living room is in Columbus, Ohio. Mack should be a busy man in January with likely in home visits to DGB, Mario Edwards and Torshiro Davis.
Quotes from LB Alex De La Torre after his official visit to UT:
"It was awesome," De La Torre said. "I mean, I can't express how much I love this university and this college and my fellow teammates and commits. It's just a great place to be and I'm excited to get down there and play."
"Just being around the others guys and hanging around some of the new guys who committed and getting to know each other more," he said. "It was good to get close with those guys."
"The new commits, I didn't know much about them. I may have messaged them once before, but coming on the visit and actually talking to them and meeting their parents and getting to know them this past weekend that's been the highlight of my weekend," De La Torre said. "Getting these guys accustomed to us and just being a part of our family."
"I think the guys who weren't committed, Torshiro Davis and Mario (Edwards), they fit in well," De La Torre said. "They were joking around with us. We all got along great with each other. It was pretty much just getting to know each other and hanging out and having a good time."
"I'm ready for the challenge," he said.
That's where Mack is always at his best. He'll save the in-home visits with DGB and Edwards for the perfect time (some point in January) and I expect him to kill it. Hopefully it all works out and UT has another five-star ending to their class like they did in 2010 with Jeffcoat and Hicks.
Once Muschamp left, Edwards didn't give UT much of a chance. Good to know that he's been a fan of the Longhorn D this year and was able to spend a good amount of time with Diaz this past weekend going over film and schemes. Also doesn't hurt that De La Torre is in his ear.
**Both Bryan Harsin and Bruce Chambers will be headed to see TE Vincent Hobbs play basketball on Friday night and talk more about a potential official visit to Austin.
**A little bit more on QB Jacob Karam:

That Karam news will blow up the internet. I hope it goes down that way. I like Bo Wallace better, but you can only go so far out of your comfort zone.
OL Donald Hawkins has been named a first team NJCAA All-American.
An article on Karam from two weeks ago. Best thing about him is he's available to enroll at his next school in January. Incredibly smart kid.
