To add more fuel to the fire, Boise State recruited Karam out of high school.
Saw this on Shaggybevo, early enrollees:
Connor Brewer, QB, Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral
Camrhon Hughes, OT, Killeen Harker Heights
Donald Hawkins, OT, Northwest Mississippi C.C.
Brandon Moore, DT, East Mississippi C.C.
Alex De La Torre, LB, Denton Ryan
Orlando Thomas, CB/ATH, Copperas Cove
To add more fuel to the fire, Boise State recruited Karam out of high school.
OU and Heupel also offered. Tells you something about his skillset.
Having Brewer, Hawkins and Moore in Austin next month is big.
DE Caleb Bluiett and LB Tim Cole will be playing in an Austin all-star game soon:

OrangeBloods reporting that things are in motion for DT Taylor Bible to transfer out of UT. I'm sure more will follow once the Holiday Bowl is complete. DT De'Aires Cotton is also expected to leave with a medical issue.

Bible is officially gone as of this afternoon.
Add a third transfer on the day...WR Darius White is also no longer with UT.
WR Dorial Green-Beckham has been in New York this week with other big-name prospects promoting the 2012 US Army All-American Bowl. He is a candidate for their "Player of the Year" and I assume he'll get it. Here are some more quotes from him to give you an idea of what kind of person he is:
"Since my brother has gone through cancer, I have been a better person for him and for everybody in our whole community," he said. "It was tough to think that my little brother has Leukemia, so I've been doing things for him, doing things for my family and doing things for the people that have followed me since back when I was in middle school."
"Being in the Beckham family made me a better person and a better role model for younger kids," Green-Beckham said.
"Hearing about it was tough for me to go through the first couple weeks, and the first couple months, actually," Green-Beckham said. "It's been real tough to go through the whole Leukemia process, but a whole lot has been accomplished since then."
"Things are going real well for him," Green-Beckham said. "He's playing basketball with me this year. He didn't get to play the first couple games, but he's trying to work his way back into shape so he can play in games later in the season."
"I got to meet Johnathan Gray, the No. 1 running back, and a couple other players there (in Austin)," Green-Beckham said "It was a real fun deal to meet those players, be in that facility and see what a Texas football game is really like."
"Their program is really good, and you can't look at it as, 'They lost, so I'm not going to go there,'" he said. "A lot of things can happen, and you never know, they could win a national championship next year. You can't judge a team by one game."
"It really doesn't matter if I [take the remaining official visits] or not," Green-Beckham said. "I've been to those schools before; I know what they are like. I could still take some if I really need to."
"I've been down there (Fayetteville) several times and that atmosphere is really nice," Green-Beckham said. "There are a lot of Arkansas fans in Springfield. My principal likes Arkansas, and my track coach likes Arkansas, but they don't try to sway me. They just want me to do what is best for me."
"Staying close affects [the decision] a little bit, but it's going to be whatever best works out for me. If I have to stay close to home, then I'll stay close to home. But if there is something else out there for me, I'm going to have to do what is best for the family."
"Everything is even between all those schools right now," he said. "I just have to wait to get that feel. I haven't gotten that feel yet but I know it is catching on. Whenever it does, I'll just decide."
"I've just been trying to do the right thing for the right people and make everybody proud of me," he said.
Just a reminder that Mack Brown is in Mississippi today to do in-home visits with OL Donald Hawkins and DT Brandon Moore. Here are some quotes from Hawkins' visit:
“Man, today has been great,” Hawkins said shortly after 2 p.m. “Coach Brown just left my house. My mom and him broke everything down. He broke down everything for her. He told my mom that the football family at Texas would take care of me with me being far away from home and that if there was a family emergency, the NCAA will now allow for the emergency trip to be paid for.”
“He (Coach Brown) told my mom how much they thought of me as a player and the expectations they had for me as a player, and in the classroom,” he said. “My mom was happy with everything she was told.”
"It was good that Coach Brown came to meet my mom,” he said. “My decision is final. Other schools still try to call, but I keep telling them I’m going to Texas.”
“Right now, I think I have to do a few things to get ready to report. Some paperwork and stuff like that. January 15 is when I report. Man, it’s all just a blessing,” he said with excitement.
“Dorial (Green-Beckham) and I spent a lot of time together on our visit to Texas,” he said. “He’s a real good dude and a great prospect. I could tell he really liked Texas, but I told him to enjoy the process and make the best decision for him. The last day of our visit, he told me he really liked Texas. I could see him coming to Texas, but he needs to make the decision that is best for him.”
Some quick recruiting info per Hook 'Em 24/7...
**Mack Brown was scheduled to be at Denton Ryan HS this week and do an in-home visit with LB Alex De La Torre, but that visit has been pushed back to January. The staff most likely wants to attack De La Torre and DE Mario Edwards at, or around, the same time so they've decided to save both visits until closer to National Signing Day.
**Speaking of Edwards, Florida State is expected to be back in Denton this week for an in-home visit and the official visit to OU this weekend is still up in the air.
**Darrell Wyatt will be making another trip to Springfield, MO to do another in-home with WR Dorial Green-Beckham once he returns from NYC. Wyatt was also there last week. His visit to OU this weekend is also uncertain and he's yet to schedule anything for Arkansas (although January 20th is likely). Some think this recruitment is down to Arkie and UT.
Big news out of College Station. Defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter is expected to take the Fresno State job. There are rumors that Kevin Sumlin doesn't plan to retain any of Sherman's staff, so this isn't surprising.

Good bye Terrell Williams, the Aggies' best recruiter. Next headline Javonte Magee to Baylor.
DE Denico Autry has committed to Mississippi State:

Per Hook 'Em 24/7, the UT coaches will do an in-home visit with WR Thomas Johnson tomorrow evening. Not sure what staff members it will at this time but my guess is Darrell Wyatt and Bruce Chambers.
Duane Akina has applied for the head coaching vacancy at Hawaii. Being a native of Honolulu, this is apparently his dream job. There are a lot of names in the hat currently (one of which is Norm Chow) so it's nothing take seriously right now. I've seen some talk that Hawaii may want someone with head coaching experience and preferably an offensive mind. That would obviously rule Akina out but he does have the Hawaii connection going for him.
That aint good
Meh. How do we know that Coach Akina hasn't applied for that job multiple times in the past? He most likely has. He's always wanted to be a head coach and he is from Hawaii. He's applied for that job before.
Applying and interviewing are two different things. I wouldn't worry, at least at this point.
Some recruiting notes on DGB and Edwards. Make sure to read the comments section on OU if you have time:

Now that Darius White is gone, the DGB saga could get a little extra interesting
Pretty hard to see them taking Akina over Chow tbh.
DLT, the man behind the man? Sounds like DLT has very quietly been one the primary defensive recruiters in the 2012 class. From HornsNation:
With so many recruits (and fellow Texas commitments) in Austin on official visits, this past weekend served as the perfect opportunity for De La Torre to continue his duties as one of Texas’ biggest advocates to Mario Edwards, the nation’s top prospect and a Florida State commit, who was also visiting.
Being high school teammates, none of the visiting prospects knew Edwards as well as De La Torre, and he thought Texas made a great impression.
“I think it was an eye-opener for Mario because he’s only been to one game and has only been to the field house and the stadium,” De La Torre said. “Just getting him around the other guys, we fit in well. The other guys got close with him. I am pretty sure he enjoyed the visit. It was definitely a change for him. He is pretty excited about it.”
De La Torre (6-1, 220) understood the importance of getting Edwards on campus given the appeal that Texas, and its facilities, might have on a recruit. The rest of the Longhorns commitments let it be known that they’d be thrilled to have him on board the nation’s top rated class, as it currently sits according to ESPNU.
“When we were talking to him and trying to pitch our recruitment as players, it is a lot bigger deal with a top-rated guy like him,” De La Torre said. “He can be a game-changer so we pitched our whole defense and that we were the top class right now. We just want to let him know that he can come and be welcomed. It is his decision.”
Aside from pitching Texas to Edwards, De La Torre also went down to relax and finalize his plans to enroll early.
“Just being around the coaches and the new commits and the current commits, and not focusing on football but the aspect of life was great,” De La Torre said. “We got to know each other a lot better and that was the highlight of the whole trip. It was an amazing trip.”
The Longhorns picked up commitments from Adrian Colbert (Mineral Wells, Texas/Mineral Wells) and Kevin Vaccaro (Brownwood, Texas/Brownwood) over the weekend, and commitments from Kendall Sanders (Athens, Texas/Athens) and Marcus Johnson (League City, Texas/Clear Springs) recently as well. De La Torre said they fit in without any problem.
“We came in as strangers and left as best friends,” De La Torre said. “They are really awesome guys. I have been talking with Adrian for quite a while. But it was my first time meeting the other guys. So it was good just to hang out and rag on each other a bit.”
