He showed some impressive moves for being so HUGE.
Probably so. I just don't see him leaving Austin without an offer. Not Texas' style to bring a kid in on an official and not offer. Harsin making a trip up to Mesquite to see Hobbs in person tells you a lot about UT's interest level.

2013 QB Tyrone Swoopes will be a five-star on Rivals.

I'm not a coach(though I can play one on the internet) but I think
in the Barrett vs Swoopes offer debate, you swing for the fences and
take a chance with the upside of a talent like Swoopes.
I can't wait for the Junior days to see how the coaches decide to play
this one out.
BTW, love this board...been lurking for a while.

Somewhere near Houston, Gerry Hamilton weeps.

Heard case is transferring and mike Davis looking to split to Colorado. Davis went from flat out stud to little pussy real fast.
I think this is what shyne is referring to. White was rooming with Davis before he left and it just wasn't good for him. Hopefully he gets it together because the incoming WRs will pass him quickly (especially if UT lands DGB).

Per Hook 'Em 24/7, a second big-time 2013 prospect has confirmed for the first Junior Day on February 12th. ATH Ricky Seals-Jones (I say "ATH" because nobody is sure what position he'll play) has said Oscar Giles extended an invitation recently and he plans on being in Austin soon.
I've seen you lurking, sir. Post more.
I tend to lean towards your line of thinking even though I struggle with who I'd take if it were up to me. I read a report recently that caught my eye. Even though Barrett is clearly the more polished prospect right now, Swoopes may have both the higher ceiling and the higher floor. Since he's only 16 or 17 years old, you're obviously looking more at what he can become rather than where he currently sits. 6'5"/225 lb. guys that are faster than most everyone on the field on any given day just don't come around often. I think the biggest knock on him is his accuracy since Whitewright doesn't throw a whole lot, but his arm strength doesn't appear to be an issue. Tough decisions to come and the next few weeks should be pretty badass closing 2012 and beginning 2013. Lots of good momentum coming off of the Holiday Bowl.
For those of you that have participated in this thread long enough, you know that DB Landon Collins has been a pure longshot for a while. Anyway, this one is officially over for UT now because he will be making his college decision at the 2012 Under Armour All-American Game next Thursday. That's always been his plan because that day is his birthday.
I saw that Barrett measured 6 foot and 7/8ths of an inch and 209 pounds. I'm not saying that's small, but it's smaller than expected.
If Barrett and Swoopes are both projects at the end of the day, give me Swoopes because of his upside.
That said, Texas needs to protect itself,if the coaches take Swoopes as a project, and that's exactly what he is, they have to take a polished QB recruit also. Cody Thomas is a guy that has been mentioned as drawing some interest from Texas.
It's pretty simple to me. If RSJ is a difference maker at TE or DE, you keep him on offense because there's more of a need there. Texas hasn't had a TE with RSJ's athleticism and size since J Mike.
Mike Davis has a lot of football left, but the head case label is starting to follow him around. I hope he gets it straightened out.
Yeah, that would be the only hesitation with taking Swoopes. Of course,
if our current stable of QB's was actually stable then there is a little more comfort in making him our QB target for 2013.
I knew Davis wasn't going to stay long. I really don't blame him, he never had a good QB who could get him the ball.
Exactly. Mack and the previous staff members have left little margin for error at the QB position. I've said before that it's almost impossible for a team like Texas to be in such a bad spot. Too many poor decisions.
The guy literally did everything for Sealy this year on the offensive side of the ball; pass, run, catch. He would create lots of match-up problems.
Trick plays with RSJ Harsin, do it, do it, do it.
What about Derrick G. is he going to play basketball instead of football?
Problem with Griffin right now is grades, apparently. Not much movement with him so far.

OU doesn't impress Edwards
Among the first Under Armour All-Americans through the registration room on Saturday, defensive end Mario Edwards offered a newsy update on his recruiting.
Edwards, No. 1 in the ESPNU150 out of Billy Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, said he soured on Oklahoma after a mid-December visit.
"Talking to some of the (current OU) players, no one had a lot of positive things to say about OU," Edwards said. "It was more, like, negative."
Additionally, Edwards said, he wasn't thrilled with the "vibe" of Norman.
"It was a real small town with really no social life there," he said. "After football season, you want to be somewhere you can socialize and all that stuff."
Before the visit to OU, he made a trip to Texas. It went surprisingly well, said Edwards, whose high school teammate, linebacker Alex De La Torre, is among the Longhorns' top-rated class of pledges.
"I thought (Austin) would be an old, country place," he said. "I went there and had a real nice time."
Edwards, committed to Florida State since March, plans a visit to Tallahassee on Jan. 14, he said, and a trip to LSU on Jan. 20.
He spoke highly of both schools. Of the Seminoles, Edwards said, in particular the Tigers and defensive line coach Brick Haley.
"He's been showing me the different packages," Edwards said, "how I can fit and come in and be an impact player."
Edwards said he plans to unveil his final decision on signing day.
Brewer tweeted a preview of the Under Armour uniforms:

A father of an OU player was absolutely destroying OU on Twitter after the Insight Bowl. Even tagged DGB on the tweets which I thought was hilarious.
@CoachJayNorvell love how other players can have 5 drops & get a 2nd chance (re: jaz/txtech) and D can't get any breaks. PONIES u.

My son went to OU loving football. After OU---not quite the same. Seems like hard work = NOTHING. Thanks @CoachJayNorvell

@CoachJayNorvell Funny, after 4 years, you can't even say o to a players mom at the banquet. You're a joke. Great gameplan vs Iowa.
