I once had a cop pull me over for an expired inspection sticker; he waved his ticket book at me and said "We can do this one of 2 ways----I can give you a ticket or you can join me for a cup of coffee". So I giggled a little and made some flirty eye contact and said "Gimme the ticket". He acted pretty surprised as if he was used to women choosing the coffee date. Anyway, he just gave me a warning and I never suffered great fear or anxiety.

Dude, I do these first two things all the time.
My cop friend replied on my FB link:
"Well first of all he was wrong for doing it. They tell us NOT to ask girls on dates during enforcement or after enforcement stops. They actually discourage us from picking up chicks on the job period. Second her address was already on the t...icket, so he did not have to access the database to find her address. Third, the only way he might not have gotten in trouble is if she tracked him down, meaning if she called or went to his station looking for him. That's a little more tolorated. A chick is NOT worth your career.. If he was good looking I bet she would have went for it."
I dont really understand the "third" part of his comment though.

Maybe that the cop might have still gotten in trouble for doing it on duty even if she had been receptive to his advances?
Police officers are privileged with a lot of private information about the people they ticket, such as their home address or phone number. That information is confidential and should not be used by the officer in any manner other than what their job dictates. This cop taking that information, and using it for his own private motives of tracking her down and asking her out is not only creepy and stalkerish, but it's also a breach of confidentiality.
Now if the girl had tracked him down, she's not obligated under any confidentiality agreement. She would just be seeking him out under her own free will, and I think that would be considered okay. What's not okay is the officer forcing her, by law, to provide her home information, and then him using that information for his own stalkery purposes.
How delusional and stupid the cop was. It's scarey that he has a gun and some power. I guess it's better he gets fired this way instead of for shooting some skateboarders.

Yeah, it was a leap. But he's obviously not a genius and seems to make some pretty bad decisions. So, I sort of saw him trying to stop some kids from skating but then pulling out his gun when they disobeyed.
But yeah...kind of a stretch...

I'll take your word for it. It explains why he didn't ask her out on the spot. He probably got home and started drinking and having dirty thoughts and thought he'd give it a try.
