Can't make the assumption without all the facts.
He could have been hasty on the trigger and fired on unarmed intruders who may have been easily run off. We don't have all the facts.

Shooting should be the last resort not the first.

Perhaps they didn't run off because they were armed, and phyzik was too surgical with his weapon.

Kidding aside, of course it's something no one wants to have to do, and phyzik admitted that. But when you have family in the house that can't defend themselves and you have intruders that broke an entry...personally, I don't give a or not if they're armed. It's their fault for taking such a stupid risk and you can't feel sympathy for them getting killed over it. If I had a gun and lived in Texas, I would have shot them as well. Imagine if you only take your gun out, point at them in attempt to threaten them off...you don't know who the it is, what they have, and how they will react. Those are all unknowns, and I'm not one to take a risk with unknowns. They very well could react by shooting you; I'd actually assign that outcome a relatively high probability, especially since it's 4 of them.

Having your house broken into while you're home is probably one of the scariest things you can experience because you don't know who it is and their intentions. Even if they're just after petty theft like stealing an xbox, people don't deserve to experience that. ers deserve to get shot.

I am sure that is the mindset for most in here but that is not mine.

is rascal serious? He should have waited to see if the FOUR men trying to get into his house were armed or not?

And he already said that he wasn't convicted of anything, so he did what he had to do.

Good for you. Youd also be the first one dead, with the added benefit of getting to meet your God and discuss the finer points of what form of killing is acceptable in His eyes.

I await the results of that conversation.

I used to think I'd be all hardcore about it too... until I did it.

Dont get me wrong, if it happened again, I wouldnt hesitate to protect my own but its definately something I hope I dont have to do again.

I dont like to ever get into details about it, even among friends... Lets just say they dont all drop dead right away after shooting them.

I'll leave it at that, done with this thread.
It is a pretty scary situation. A few months ago I had 3 people who were trying to break into my place, and I had my .45 and an extra clip of hollow points waiting. They must have heard me, because when I went out to check with the pistol drawn after they failed in kicking in my door they were gone. My heart must have been beating a 1000 times a minute, but I'm not going to die just because some burglar doesn't want a witness to testify and send him to prison for 20 years.

I've always wondered if the fear of retaliation is worth it. I probably wouldn't hesitate in the moment, but I also know I'd probably have to move after the fact because I'd be worried about someone trying to get revenge for their fallen friend/family member.

Yeah, you never point a gun at a person unless you're planning on killing them right there.

    A guy in jail told me his m.o. is this;

He is paid to walk down a block...find a house...walk up and kick the door open and run to the corner...

If no one comes out or no alarm, no response...he calls in his buddies to enter the house...
Gets paid 1g a week for this...

Who would shoot to kill here? Interesting how one would react if this was their house...

I can't believe there are actually people like rascal who don't value their own life in that kind of situation. Go ask Sean Taylor's family about what asshole burglars are capable of.

I'll shoot anyone whether he's just a high school idiot going for xbox games or full blown adult drug addicts once they decided to break into my house.

Criminals are criminals. They will not change, , they almost always get more worse and violent the more they get away with bad things. We cant let these kinds of people run in town with no respect to other people's property and lives.

homeowners are already at a disadvantage when a criminal enters the house since they already have a plan of attack and they have their weapons out right away.

It's already unfair that peaceful citizens have to suffer because a criminal already made their decision to harm them/do them wrong. Do your part and set an example that crime in your neighborhood will not be tolerated.

    Disco.

It is said that the common lexicon of the cowboy in the 19th century would be interpreted as far too polite and ingratiating by today's standards (ie an ass-kisser, Eddie Haskel-type)

Reason: being rude could get you killed. Better to be polite until you choose not to.

I didn't say anything about being ashamed about it.
But it is something you don't want to have to do.

What were the facts of the incident?
Were they armed? God will have a say in the incident if the shooting was uncalled for when he dies. I don't want to be in a position to answer to it.

How was he able to shoot 4 people without getting shot at himself?
Sounds like he fired on unarmed intruders. I would think after he shot the first guy the others would run off.
    god!

You don't have time to assess whether or not they're carrying weapons. If someone breaks into your house it is reasonable to assume they present a deadly threat to you and your family. In a case like that you shoot and as questions later.

at your suggestion that he should have waited to find out whether they were armed or not. ing ludicrous

I'm not saying it's something to be proud of, tbh. I detect jealousy from DMC based on his scoff-like response. He likes to act as an authority on firearms and probably owns a small arsenal, but has no interesting stories to share about it. He's only fired on pumpkins, dirt mounds, and targets...and in a twisted way this wounds him deeply.

usually it takes about a nanosecond for DMC to reply to anything posted about him, but he's as silent as mookie at a Ting family reunion about this one. This post has to be 100% true.
