Here's a new out-of-state name to keep an eye on for 2013, DE Greg Gilmore. He's in San Antonio this week for the Army Combine and he mentioned UT as his dream school and the scholarship offer he's waiting on. However, he mentioned last month that USC was also his dream school and his father happens to live in California.

"I grew up loving Southern Cal," said Gilmore. "I've got their hat and coats and all that. They have a young team and once they get off probation I think they can go in the right direction. My dad lives in California and I'll be out training with him so hopefully while I'm there I can go visit USC."

Interesting. North Carolina is the tenth largest state based on population and it is WIDE OPEN. I believe Coach Searels recruited the area while at UGA. I'd like to Coach Davis and Coach Searels recruit the Tar Heel state. It's a large, southern state without a SEC program. I think Texas could have landed DJ Reader this year if they wanted him.

Additionally, Mack has quite a bit of history in North Carolina.

I wouldn't get too worked up about the UA Game fellas. It's. An. All. Star. Game. It's the McDonalds' All American Game with pads. The game itself won't effect anybody's college decision. It's the tiniest factor in a much larger decision.

I'd remind everyone that the Texas commits practiced well, learned something and had a good time. Again it's an all star game and that's what's for. Yes the Black team got smoked, but if you're 18 years old and African American, who would you rather play for Herm Edwards or Steve Mariucci? Everytime Mooch speaks I feel myself falling into a coma. Did you see Herm Edwards' pre game speech? Even I got amped. The White team was ready to play, while the Black team was not. It's as simple as that.

Hopefully the hard sell turns them off. Texas has the in home left, it's going to have to be one of Mack's best because Edwards is going to be coming off official visits to FSU, and LSU. Bo Davis might as well rent an apartment in Denton. Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of the Texas coaches have made an in home to the Edwards' house, so there's still bullets in that gun.

More news on 2013 DB Marcell Harris from Hook 'Em 24/7...it's pretty obvious that Texas plans on offering and he was probably promised a scholarship offer back in June when he visited Austin for UT's summer camp, but the staff informed him yesterday that his offer will be official on February 2nd (the day after National Signing Day).

Was Akina at Marcell Harris junior high graduation? Serious question. I can't remember Duane being after a recruit this hard this early. I think he looks at Harris and sees another Thorpe Award.

2 biggest factors with Harris IMO: 1) Is Mud Harris a Gator through and through or is he a Spurrier guy? There's a difference. You can ask the same question about Papa Edwards just replace Gator with Seminole and Spurrier with Bowden. 2) Does the Harris family like where the Florida program is headed right now? UF had some very bad loses on their schedule this year, their offensive coordinator was a train wreck and left for Kansas, and they have a rookie head coach.

I like Muschamp, but he has a long way to go as the head man.

One Florida program locking down the state is a pretty new development. Florida players are not nearly as loyal as recruits from Texas. I know a lot of Texas fans want to punt on recruiting Florida, but it's a lot more open than most people think. OU for example has 3 Floridians in their 2012 class. If kids from Florida are willing to go to OU, they're willing to go to Texas.

Harris said today that he plans on coming back for Junior Day next month. He's not expected to commit until at least the beginning of his senior year, but three trips to Austin would be pretty crazy for a potential five-star, out-of-state, Florida legacy.

I hadn't seen this posted yet, but RB Michael Dyer of Auburn has been granted his release and it looks like he could follow Gus Malzahn to Arkansas State. Interesting that things ended up this way since Malzahn's wife mentioned Dyer was tough to handle on more than one occasion in her crazy YouTube video.

I would assume his offer was pulled. You can't go from committed to ruling that school out just like that.
